  3. Hi and welcome to the forum Relay 109 is the power relay for the diesels, this can be the cause of non starting or intermitant starting, maybe contacts are sticking when ignition is turned off. IIRC the relay is about
  4. Hi there While your clearing the scuttle tray out would be a good idea to change the pollen filter. Also as your car is ageing remove the screws from the rear end of the front wheel arch liner, the scuttle drains into this area, dig all the mud and dirt away wash out with hose then check for rust and holes where water could find it's way through inside.
  5. Here's one. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-USB-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-VAG-COM-/330399696070?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4ced5b44c6
  6. Hi and welcome to the forum The glow plug light doubles as an engine management light, so it's telling you there's a fault on a sensor only problem is it don't tell you which one. The brake light switch is a common culprit for this. The only way to be sure is to run Vagcom this will pinpoint the fault. The Vagcom lead is a good investment it can save you
  7. The N75 is located behind a heatshield on the bulkhead immediately behind the EGR valve http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=5463
  8. You probably have broken/chaffed/shorting wiring primarily in the drivers door gaiter although other doors may also be affected.
  9. Here it is. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=1539&hl=pollen+filter
  10. Problems occurring with the booster heater manifest themselves usually in the cold weather (below +5 degs on MK1's and below +10 deg's on MK 2's) is it that cold where you are? Anyway to try and pinpoint whether the heater is trying to fire up you could temporarily remove fuse 12 from the fuse box this will disable it and see if it occurs again The reason I mentioned steam is maybe the rear heater matrix or pipework is leaking causing the steam. Are you losing or constantly topping up coolant level.
  11. Have you tried disconnecting the battery then hold both leads together for a second then reconnect, obviously you will need your code handy for your radio.
  12. Hi colin The link you added on one of your threads shows the pipe, the other end of the pipe is attached to the compressor the part number for the pipe was on a label attached to the old pipe and the number will only be good for VW The condenser drier is a common place for leaks but as I said the pipes are vulnerable to corrosion, there are a few pipes that are hidden behind the wheel arch and behind the engine and radiator grill. And I do receive messages + your friend request thanks Cheers Chris
  13. Hi Have recently changed that pipe on mine, I got the pipe from VW agent the part number is 7M3 820 722M cost
  14. Mk1 http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?s=&showtopic=11296&view=findpost&p=92295 Mk 2 http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=5150&view=findpost&p=35344
  15. Hi and welcome to the forum Just to clarify are we talking about exhaust smoke/fumes or steam from the removeable panel by the luggage area
  16. Check the small rubber air pipes around the engine, if one is split or become detached you may have a blocked cat/exhaust
  17. Good idea Dave but make sure the garage you use will still guarantee the job as they haven't supplied the parts
  18. Hi George have you checked the vacuum supply to the servo? you may have a collapsed pipe
  19. Yes you will get the pressure switch fault code when gas runs low, when you sort leak and have regassed the display will return to normal but the fault code will need clearing next time you hook up Vagcom.
  20. Have you checked your fuses 30 to 34 iirc if these are OK check power supply at the clock as it maybe at fault
  21. Is this both sides or only one side? Possible causes are; Brake pedal not returning fully Seized caliper sliders/and or pads seized in carrier Seized hand brake cables or wrongly adjusted Overfilled fluid reservoir
  22. Hi there The glow plug light doubles as the engine management light on the diesels, quite often this is a faulty brake light switch so check and see if the brake lights are working correctly, will also have left a fault code which will pin point the fault. Tip. Get yourself a Vagcom lead (
  23. Relay 30 will not stop engine turning over but will stop engine firing it is the power relay for engine ECU (ignition & injectors) Check your starter connections (live & earth) also check solenoid for power when key is turned.
  24. When you start the car check to see if the glow plug light came on momentarily also look at the door led when cranking
