  2. Hi and welcome to the forum If your car is starting when push it to bump start it, then it sounds like your battery is low or knackered or as suggested starter,the engine has to turn over at a minimum of 300RPM if it dont it wont

  5. The electric run pump was seized when it 1st overheated but now works fine!!! Yeah when I left cap off rad was warm but it lost water If I squeeze the bottom hose while the car is running then eventually the rad will get hot and the fans kick in really clutching at straws here don't fancy changing head but also don't really want to spend money on new rad unless I'm sure it is that :) thanks daz I think you've confirmed it, by leaving the cap off your allowing the air to escape instead of passing around the system, personally I would have no hesitation in taking the head off, get yourself one of those test kits to confirm.

Hi Daz Going back to your earlier thread you said you left the cap off accidently and it didn't overheat then, did the radiator feel hot at that time, also you said you had been topping it up regularly this is not right if it's not leaking somewhere eg, hoses or heater matrix's or the metal pipes under the car then it's being blown out the exhaust or through the rad cap, also is your electric run on pump working? it can cause premature gasket failure if it's not. Summary By what you have said I think you have had early stages of head gasket failure for some time, and now it's started to get worse.
  7. The Ford engine models don't appear to have the thermo switch in the radiator but does have a fan control relay, probably what you can see under fuse box, fuse 18 also controls on some models. Have you connected 12 volt straight to the fan(s) to make sure they are working?
  8. Are you saying you haven't got the fuse box by the battery?
  9. Fuses covering fans are 14,34,main fuse box and 104,& 105 in auxiliary box nex to battery
  10. Undo the large multiplug on the right hand end of the cylinder head under air charge pipe. Personally I wouldn't worry just start engine an let it idle for a few minutes while you check for leaks

Hi Daz Remove the small hose from the top of the water bottle, remove cap, extend hose into filler start engine and observe end of pipe, (make sure coolant is up to the maximum mark) small quantities of coolant and any air bubbles should be ejected into the bottle. If there is nothing the restriction (small metered hole) inside the hose is probably blocked,large quantities of air being ejected is most certainly head gasket or other head problems.
  12. Hi and welcome to the forum A faulty relay 30 will not stop the engine turning over, it cuts power to ignition and injectors. You need to be looking at starter inhibiter switch as you have an auto, check on starter that your getting 12 volt to the starter solenoid when turning key to start position other things to look at are wiring connections to starter, faulty ignition switch or even faulty starter.
  13. Sound like a split or collapsed vacuum hose to the brake servo. Look for the large black plastic hose that connects to the servo behind brake master cylinder, then follow the pipe back to the inlet manifold.

  15. It's always a gamble buying a secondhand car, if you don't have a friend who's a bit more knowing who can look and listen with you then you take a chance. Cars that seem like a bargain very rarely are and end being someones cast off and costing a fortune to put right. Automatic versions in particular should be given a good road test to ensure it's working correctly.
  16. Bad circulation and air in system, coolant not in contact with fan sensor can cause fans not to kick in, check out the things Amarok has said especially the stat. Flashing dash lights could be shorting wiring in the tailgate wiring gaiter, check all back end electrics are working normally IE, lights, rear wiper heated screen. If there's also problems with central locking, electric windows, and mirrors check drivers door wiring gaiter. Both these locations suffer broken/chaffing wiring and play havoc with the electrics on these cars.
  17. Hi and welcome to the forum Unlikely anything by relays would give you a misfire you should be looking at plugs, plug leads, coils packs, and engine wiring harness You really need to determine which cylinder(s) are misfireing then swop over the coil packs or substitute for a known good one
  18. If it's gone sluggish immediately after belt change I would be inclined to think the timing is out.
  19. Have you checked out the drive shafts and CV joints, also have a look at the front wishbone and anti rollbar rubbers.
  20. Will that fit in a mark 1 galaxy? The MK 1 has the D3WZ heater this plug is the same plug for the earlier MK 2 with the D5WZ heater so the Beru plug 0100,226,340 GH001 will fit either.
  21. You will need to remove the fuel filter to get your hand down the back of engine, they are colour coded make sure you get the same the number for the grey one is F1459209
  22. Haven't got the torch key myself but if it's starting the engine it must have the chip in the mould of the fob, the battery doesen't affect the starting only the central locking, I have the plastic emergency key and that starts the engine but you cant see the chip.
  23. Seized drive shaft joint (CV JOINT) maybe.
  24. If a front tyre has worn on one shoulder it will tend to steer itself in that direction, usually more noticeable when it's the n/s because of the road camber
  25. Duh See most of the points have already been covered, one other point was do you have roof bars? not sure if they could cause a leak into the roof lining? do you think the sloshing noise could be coming from the roof lining.
