  1. Some relays don't always appear with the number up the right way so 109 could look like 601. Look carefully at the relays, all the diesels will have a 109 it's the power supply relay
  2. If door LED is flashing Check relay 109 in third layer of fuse box.
  3. As far as I know the earth strap is by the starter, but try using a jump lead from the battery earth to a clean metal part of the engine, if it starts OK your earth strap needs cleaning or replacing.
  4. Don't use the image button, you need to attach the photo file stored on your computer. So click on choose files at the bottom of the reply text box, this will add the file to the text box, then when you post the pic and any text will be displayed.
  5. The OEM independent heating option will have a second battery under the seat, this means you can run your diesel fired heater (Eberspächer) without starting engine using the control panel by front interior mirror
  6. Did you remove the gauze pictured below with glow plug, they can burn away and cause combustion problems You may need a new gauze if holed or burnt.
  7. Yes left (anticlockwise) to slacken same on both sides
  8. Cant help with a video but access is pretty good on this model once the said parts are removed, have changed several belt kits on the galaxy no problem. You will also need to remove the under tray and o/s wheel to access the crank pulley and lower cover.
  9. Not sure if that fuse covers window switch lighting and face vent illumination, if it does then it's likely to be the wiring in the drivers door gaiter. Do you have any other issues with central locking and electric windows, heated mirrors/mirror adjustment.
  10. Well done SparkyAlan lots of interesting and useful info there, just shows how easy it is to be misguided. Brake light switches have a dual function not only controlling brake lights but is linked with the engine ECU and also disengages the drive in auto models and can cause the glow plug lamp to flash :)
  11. Hi and welcome to the forum. Ford recommend headlight masking which in my opinion is a bit fiddly, I use super beam benders which are stick on lenses and can be used on right and left hand drive. They can be used several times if they are removed and stored carefully. http://www.saxon-brands.com/viewprod-Super_Beam_Benders.php
  12. Then there's most likely a leak on your system which they should have tested before filling with gas. My advice is use a specialist mobile aircon service, I have a number for the north kent area or look in yellow pages.
  13. Short start stops dont do these heaters any good but if it continues to smoke after a few minutes of running at full speed then you will at least have to replace glow plug. Lot of info in the FAQ's about this.
  14. Problems with steering gear and pumps are not that common, it's more often than not a seized alternator clutch pulley and possibly auxiliary belt tensioner as already mentioned. This is assuming you have a MK2 2000 onwards as some earlier models have a solid pulley
  15. Hi Andy Try here http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/ I have used them before good service.
  16. Low fluid level can also cause unusual noises, if it is low then you probably have a leak which would need investigating.
  17. The temp sensor is on the housing that the large hose is connected to from cylinder head, looks slightly hidden in the photo, the one on the end of the cylinder head is the oil pressure switch.
  18. The sliding pins in the caliper bracket can also seize, when one pin seizes it also causes the pads to wear unevenly.
  19. Firstly if your using internet explorer as your browser dont, it doesn't work properly with this forum you need to use firefox or chrome. If your changing belt because it's overdue and there's no issues with engine and your pretty competent then you wont need locking tools, what you need to do is mark the pulleys carefully with an adjacent stationary object so when belts replaced and tensioned it's in exactly the same position (all marks in alighnment) Tips. Do not rotate pulleys with belt removed Replace cam tensioner and idler pulley Tension new belt correctly Double check timing is correct before starting.
  20. Check subframe mounting bolts for tightness
  21. As well as the info given you may need to scan with VCDS you may have a pressure switch control relay clutch or wiring fault.
  22. You need to look up under the top edge of the black surround remove the two screws then pull the surround from it's lower clips, then you will see the four screws that hold the cluster.
  23. Are you sure about this 2.4? haven't seen no references for a 2.4, what year is this car. My MK2 book say fuse 5 for reversing lights, but I know they can be wrong
  24. Check wiring inside rubber gaiter going to drivers door firstly, it's common for wiring to break and chaff/short together causing all sorts of problems, you may also need to check the other doors.
  25. If I was you I would get some suitable crimps from somewhere like Maplins or auto electrical retailer, solder on the new ones, you will need a small blow lamp to do this as you wont get enough heat quickly enough with a soldering iron.
