Tatty Inside Door Handles
marinabrid replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
heres a pic of the paint pot and some of it on the door, i have since matted it down to match better with a bit of t cut. i think the blue is a common galaxy trim colour, i used a night blue and a gloss black to match it. -
hi all you probly all know the mk1 problem of the door handles inside becomeing very tatty and wearing away, you cant buy them except as part of a new door card at an obsene price, i found a very good alternative. most diy shops sell plasticote enamel paint in small glass jars, i found a color called night blue and a gloss black, i mixed them and got a color very similar to the blue trim inside, a bit like navy blue, after a bit of mixing to find the right shade i painted it on, it covers very well and covers the worn patches . its a gloss finsih though and the trim is matt, i used a bit of t cut to matt it down. its a very good substitute and restores the trim to a much better condition. i suppose you could paint the whole surround in any colour you fancy. i just stuck with trying to blend it in. around

marinabrid replied to me myself and I's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
the plug is beru gh001 thats the stock number you can get from gsf branches. if you not getting any heat at all then i dont think thats your prob, if the aux heater is working or not you should get some warm air after a while. could be your thermostat or maybe the control is faulty ? -

well it came via ebay from germany in 4 days. good start., clean all panels with alcohol wipes then heat up the wood effect part with hairdryier and peel off the backing strip. then apply, reheat which allows you to repositon. all parts are an amazing exact fit. you get trims for the air vents, speakers, ashtray, glovebox, light switches, theres bits for the door pull handles and around the window switches, there arealso blanks. i stuck 2 over a dash hole where the phone had been, the flash has made it look a bit red but its a nice meduim walnut . colours you can have are light or dark mahog, red blue, carbon etc well the good wife thinks its fab, i suppose thats all that matters. each to there own i suppose. some will like it and some will hate it. its a very good high quality product that is delivered quick. dont know if its worth the

well, she has chosen the light mahogany kt, she states that if its german then it will be good. now i know why i stopped thinking how a womans mind works many moons ago. i will indeed fit it and upload the results for all to see. if she wants plastic instead of real wood then she can buy her own batteries as well. the germans have replied already and say that the kit is on za vay already.

Rear Brake Callipers And Handbrake Lever
marinabrid replied to Ginettamad's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
i had this trouble kept reoccuring, so now i spray the levers with wd40 every month and seems to keep them free -
think you have removed wrong plug, the one you need to try is on a hose coming from the middle area of the cylinder head, very near the head you will see a sensor in the hose with a multiplug on usually 4 wires and a yellow ring around it i think. you may need to remove top engine cover to access it. thats the sensor that tells the ecu the temp

seems to affect other models as well, we have a 98 110 afn and a 97 ahu and both have suffered the same problem, on both the starters are fine in fact the older one has a new starter on and still does it now and again, they whip the engine over at high speed, i think its just a quirk i think and nowt to bother about.
-
we too had the long single bleep after a few seconds cranking, then it fires up and behaves. belive me ive looked and tested and vag comed it till i be blue in the face but no faults ever show. i think it is a quirk of this engine . as long as the battery is in good condition it should fire up evevntually.
-
seems a few folk have had this, ours seemed to go thruough a stage like this then it starts normally. we check everything, a mechnik suggested coating the fuel filter pipes and pump ends with a grease to prevent any air getting in. but now and again it still does it. i think its one of them things you live with and is a quirk of this car. we also have a 90hp and that does it now and again as well.

hi all 110 tdi 98, had a cambelt change 3 years ago with pulleys as well. car has done around 9000 miles since. it just goes to school and tesco and an odd trip out. does belt need changing at the specified mileage or lenght of time in years, in 5 years it will probly have done 10,000 miles on the belt, do belts wear out with time or mileage or both ? or could say a belt that does low low milage last for 10 years ? does the starting of the engine also shorten the life ? thanks
-
could be the sensor that feeds the gauge and the ecu, seems quite a common item that fails and causes many different symtons. there is one with a yellow ring or a green ring around it to identify it. you can get them form most car shops or factors at a much lower price than the dealers. it just pushes into the housing and is held with a circlip type fitting that prises out , if you look at the front of the engine in the middle area there is a fat hose that comes out of the head, the sensor is in there, quite easy to see, pull off the block connector and thats it, i didnt even drain the water , you can do a very quick hand movement and get the new one in and only lose a pint or two of water. also check the expansion tank and the sensor in there for low water

Galaxy Wont Start
marinabrid replied to woodman05's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
seems a fair few have had this me included. i asked last year but no one really had any ideas. seems just like a quirk of some tdi engines. a fitter pal of mine said to try covering the fuel filter and end of fuel lines on the pump with grease to stop any air leaks. this we did and weve still had the odd time its refused to start , always though after the cars been running and then switched off and tried to restart in a few mins. but then as you say after a rest of 10 -20mins they start fine. i tried all the usual things to cure, but it seems to have a mind of its own. if its running ok i suggest just leave it be. you can start more problems by tinkering about.
