How Long Does A Clutch Last ?
Bigjeeze replied to chevron169's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I have two diesels - a Mk1 and a Mk2 The Mk1 has 129K miles - original clutch (1997 vintage) The Mk2 has 90k miles orignal clutch (2001/2 vintage) So your guess is as good as mine!! -
1... Not what it seems like to us on here! :( :o 2... Grease? Seriously - you need to ascertain if the blades or the spindles are at fault. Why not try a little (iI mean littel) bit of washing up liquid on the screen with plenty of water - if that fixes it then it could be blades - If not then the chances are it's the spindles. For now if you don't have the facilities then try carefully puting some WD40 or similar down the spindle shafts. Be careful not to get it on the glass. That might free them off somewhat. If they are sticking you will need to do something about it as if you leave it could end up with a burned out wiper motor and that ain't cheap!

Hi Give us some more information. How old is the car? Is it both tyres with equal wear? Have you had the car a long time or is it new to you? Are there any other symptoms?

That depends on the relationship - My guy is very helpful and will do that kind of thing for me. If you r car is under the warranty period I would rather let them do it (te Fleet garage is qualified for warranty purposes. -

I agree - except to say that just because he staes his terms doesn't mean they are fair or legal (as it happens they seem to be in this case but) just stating them doesn't mean it's law -

If these prices include parts then you could save money by supplying the parts yourself. I used BT Fleet and supplied the parts - the labour charge was just 2.4 hours - @ -

I think you would do well to follows Gregor's advice and put in a small de humidifier - that will be quicker and probably more effective. You can buy them from most DIY stores. :) -

ITWonk why have you asked the question if you have already made up your mind? You asked the forum replied and you ignore it!! :D There's no point in trying to sell the the 307 here it's crap - it's a lot less reliable than the Galaxy - if you read reviews on the Galaxy they do have a few complaints but nothing like the 307. :D As for the "empty" 6th or 7th seat - so what if it's empty for a while - it'll save gas!! :D Company cars tend to be more reliable and less troublesome as they usually have good servicing and the high mileages tend to keep problems away - it's "urban" vehicles - ie those that do short trips that have the most problems. :D If you like the 307 and can sell yourself on it - Buy it! You just can't convince us! :P

http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...03&hl=glowplugs Take a look at these posts - and it might be a good idea to take this to your mechanic
-
I think also that Glow plugs could be at fault. When the engine starts if all the cylinders aren't firing properly then you would have poor pulling power - The fact that it works fine once warm would suggest Glow plugs are not working. As for the metering pump ticking - they all do - it's not a fault.

I think it only fair to agree with mumof4 - women do tend to read the instructions - because they know that is correct - and that a smart man will have written them!!! :D
-
All we have to hope is that now she has her freedom we won't see mumof5 appearing on hear anytime soon! :P
