  1. Thanks Sepulchrave - I'll do that. I haven't stripped it down as yet - I have looked at new alternators and they are in the
  2. Another symptom - Whilst the engine is running the dash light flicker almost as if a relay is chattering. Is this a possibility? If so which one is likely?
  3. Well I checked the plugas as Andde suggested- no change and now the light is on permamently - and although the battery is failry well charged you can see it is not charging properly. I put a meter on it and I am getting around 12v. Any suggestions as to what would be the best way forward? Remove it and try to get a new rectifier or brush set? It's done 130K miles so it's well run in!!!! Any ideas please BJ
  4. Hi Frank - I recently replaced one of mine. I bought it from a Ford Dealer in Salisbury they do mail order over the web. The part number I have is 1041664 ( I don't know if they are handed left or right) cost 19.13 before VAT - and they charged 5 for postage. www.edwardsford.co.uk tel 01980 67 60 60 Cheers BJ
  5. Changing the cables on the MK1 & Mk2 is identical - a pain in the arse but not too taxing. Probably a bit difficult for mumof4 cos she's a girlie (Only joking!!) You need to get underneath and remove the exhaust shield and you also have to take out to the two front seats - TIS, and ELSAWIn both say you need to remove the battery box etc - but I didn't when doing mine. It's tricky but perfectly do able. Good luck mum!!
  6. I want to get a Sat Nav and like the look of the Tom Tom One - Any advice please - Is this a good one is there a better one at around
  7. Well firstly it's broken Secondly you need to do a little more investigation. Do any of the motors work in the windows or is it just the drivers door? If the motros are OK then the wiring is suspect - make sure you have continuity. Also if you have the control box under the passenger seat - then check that. Wipers - Has to be wires into the tail lid. :P
  8. Err... not me, not anymore. I must be getting old... :D If the thing actually worked in my car, I would have been very happy with it. It seems to be OK for people with the diesel Galaxys, so if you have one of these I can highly recommend buying/borrowing one. If you have a 2.3 petrol, don't bother... :D Well Sparky Paul - now you have a Pela for sale or hire!! you could make on this deal! :D
  9. Currently still BT and CSMA
  10. I received my renewal today Fully comp Me & Mrs driving Full business use - both drivers Max NCD Excess
  11. Hi Andy No I haven't touched it - but I'll check. Cheers mate BJ

The seated part! :D
  13. Bloody scuffer!!
  14. Hi Chaps I noticed on my MK1 that the Alternator light flashes on every so often - there doesn't seem to be any obvious reason as to why but it does do it. I had a quick look at the aux belts - these were replaced about 10K miles ago and all looks OK. Any ideas?
  15. I have the same - MK2 Holey Headrests 3 point middle seat belt etc etc etc but the smaller discs as well. Still it seems to stop alright so far!!!
  16. Nothing too difficult here at all. Just remember that you need to undo the bleed nipples before pushing back the calliper pistons on the fronts - and the same at the back except they have to be wound in using a brake wind tool. (break wind???? Pardon!!!) :D Ensure you get the correct pads with the correct length of sensor wire - there are more than one type. Other than that not too difficult at all! Good luck :D
  17. I bet you his Italian address is a front - I am sure you will find the Western Union transfer will end up in Nigeria. I had a very similar deal once when I advertised a car for sale - It was all done via an agent in London (actually in Nigeria) They got so excited they called me on my mobile - and that's when it became obvious they were Nigerians (i already knew this as my Brother was then a Policeman working in NCIS and passed me to his colleagues on the Nigerian desk (Yes the MEt had a desk just for these 419'ers) Anyway good luck with the game - Make the bastards suffer!! You might like to look at this http://www.nigeriapolice.org/419.htm
  18. There are two differing figures for oil & gas depending on whether you have Dual Air con - The dual system requires the higher figures. If you have roof vents in the passenger cabin - IE 3 in the first row and 2 in the back then you have the dual Air con - if not then you have the standard and the lower figures should be used. The other problems I can't ehlp with but there is a ton of info on this site - Air Con is the most talked about subject!!
  19. Quinten Get the guy to call you on your mobile - Calls from Nigeria are really expensive and you can string him along for quite a while!!
  20. My MK1 did that about 2 years ago - and I thought bugger paying for a new cat so I went and got some exhaust bits from the back of the local exhaust centre - cut the necessary bits off and two clamps later all is well. It's passed two MOT's so far. Can't help with the fitting bit.
  21. OK Knives back in Knife drawer - (not in back!!) This is not sarcasm - it's friendly banter!, maybe slightly ironic or just a touch acidic but not intended to wound or hurt. Thats what the knives are for ;)
  22. I think also you need to inform ther Insurers as they don't like any mods like this and it could affect you in the event of an accident claim. Tedious but worth checking.
  23. Mine has never appeared - CC works fine and I have never had any faults nor light. ;)
  24. Really? you do surprise me!!! ;)
