  1. Ah, so it IS you that drives in front of me @ 12mph every morning..... Seriously though, you must have one light right foot, or sit on the motorway all day @ 60mph, I get aroung 31-32 from my TDi, which admittedly is only town driven for most of the time, but I do like to use the torque... Mike
  2. Hmm.. Anyone confirm the diameter of speakers in the Mk2?? I have 2 pairs of Sony XS-A1726 Custom fit speakers, removed from my picasso (the originals were pathetic, and went back in at the end of the lease) Would like to utilise them in my Gal, as they could do with a bit of an upgrade, and they totally transformed the system in my Picasso... So has anyone done the upgrade, and what did you use? Mike
  3. Glow plugs and all that - what a load of crap, the TDi should start without them instantly at anything above freezing.... Does sound like a simple air leak in the fuel line - probably caused by Fraud when messing about with the filter.. Make sure any O rings are in their correct places and check all clips/unions.. Mike
  4. This will be one of the internal one way clutches "rolling over" How many miles your Gal done, I'm guessing 50-70k? Mike
  5. Prob means that your aircon has had a blue ultraviolet dye added, so in the event of a leak, get a UV lamp and you (should) be able to see where it's coming from.. Mike
  6. It's a Jatco box on the 2.3 and the .8 as well as the Tdi, 4 or 5 speed. Mike
  7. Hmm... I wasn't but... Am considering a new(er) one, so mine could be available.. 2002 Tdi 115 Zetec 5 speed Auto Full MOT Full recon box just fitted with Warranty 12 months warranty remaining (comprehensive incl wear and tear items) Trip computer and Cruise control Xenon lamp kit Just on 60k, with full service printout Had cambelt done 6 months ago Seven 3 point seatbelts Importantly - EVERYTHING works, incl A/C, aux heater ABS etc, etc But I fear it will be slightly abouve your budget.. Looking around
  8. Jesus, what a nightmare of a job! btw, is the red block with what looksl like heatsink fins close to the evaporator the resistor pack for the blower? Mike
  9. VR6, is that the finis for the modified pack, ie the faster speed 2? As mine is rubbish on 2 but too noisy on 3.. Also, how can I telll if mine already has the mod? (hope not) it's a 2002 facelift... Finally, how much are the packs? Mike
  10. The noise you can hear is the coolant circulation pump, which is there to keep coolant flowing around the block, head and turbo after you switch off - to prevent hotspots and overheateing. Mike
  11. Righty.. All the relevant bits (switches, sensors etc) WILL definately be there, now the next bit depends on whether yours is a mk1 or mk2.. On the mk 1 the loom should also be tucked up behind the dash.. On the mk2 you will need a speciall extended loom, either home made, or from a guy I got mine from in Germany -
  12. Just an aside.. I WISH they fitted the 2.5 Tdi to the Gal, brother bought a 180bhp one last week, and it was seriously rapido! Just fitted the Speedbuster to it today, and WHOA... UNBELIEVABLE, it physically throws your head back in the first 4 gears... Gonna get it dyno'd and timed sometime next week... Good job it's a quattro, that much torque would be a joke in a FWD only car.... Mike
  13. Lingsim, I've fitted a speedbuster box to mine - do a search on here, a few threads about the subject will turn up.. Mike
  14. Fan(s) WILL run if your aircon is on - regardless of engine temp... Mike
  15. Isn't this known as "V6 syndrome" ??? lol Mike
  16. Aircon not on by any chance is it?? Unless the a/c is set to off/econ, the fans will run all the time to ensure a suffiecient airflow over the aircon heat exchanger.. Mike
  17. Someone mention my name?? Have a look at this thread here. Mike
  18. The heated screen won't affect GPS or laser... However, heat reflecting screens, as fitted in my previous car, a Picasso WILL affect it - had murder getting a signal on the GPS, ended up getting a reradiating antenna, which solved the problem. Mike
  19. I find mine to be really noisy, ie engine noise when accelerating - not too bad when cruising... Must get a Ghia next time!! As an aside, has anyone fitted any sort of noise insulation and what sort of results have you had? Mike
  20. Utter bollox m8! Mike
  21. The glowplug has a strange connector, whereby both the pos and neg terminals are linked bty a ceramic isolator, so if the 8mm nut securing the connector works loose, the plug will lose both pos AND neg, rather than the normal scenario where a glowplug would be grounded via the body. IMHO this could lead to intermittent faults of open circuit, and after 5 of these the heater would not try and fore up again until the fault is cleared... So although the plug may be fine, a loose connection could still cause mayhem... I was (sort of) lucky - when tested my glowplug was actually open corcuit... Mike
  22. Checkout the price of the maf for a punto GT RRP
  23. THIS GUY ON EBAY seems ok, has a load of different MAF's from about
  24. cheers GSMGuy, the only problem is, i dont have VAG-COM :D http://www.disa.com.au/Pictures/baby%20crying%20cartoon.gif matt Matt, whereabouts are you? I'm sure either myself (if you are close) or another member with VAG-COM would be pleased to help you once you've fitted all the bits... Mike
