  1. I don't know about the side steps, but heres a bull bar ! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-GALAXY-BULL-BAR...0117111001r2772
  2. I think it would be worth keeping the car and getting a few quotes independent of the insurance company, its not that severe, source the parts from breakers and the whole job might not turn out that expensive afterall. I believe once you have a car you like and it works reliably most of the time then get it fixed when necessary, it'll be cheaper in the long run than buying a new one.
  3. Per month ? No. Although I have a mate who pays
  4. Yep, sounds like a reasonable price, I haggled with my local main Ford dealer and got him down to
  5. The modding could be a good thing to check, although not sure how, as I had my previous Galaxy re-mapped, and although it was like sh#t off a shovel, the mpg was effected.
  6. Whats the mileage ? It might seem obvious but check your tyres pressures first of all. Make sure it has the correct oil in it 505.01 spec. Drive at a steady constant speed below the level of the turbo cutting in. The cold weather will heavily effect fuel economy (booster heater/electrics etc). You usually won't get any better than 35mpg around town (use 6th gear when possible). Also check: Could be another duff MAF ? Sticking Turbo Vanes Vacuum hoses Air filter Clean out turbo CAT might need replacing Just a few suggestions.
  7. I'll keep my eye out for it, as I'm in West Yorkshire but do venture up to the cold North quite often !
  8. Glad you like the new springs, are they the -50mm ones ? I find that the Galaxy is so much better at handling and feels more stable at speed than before. You do obviously expect the ride to be slightly harder, but not very noticeable on normal maintained roads. The looks are obviously better, but above all else the overall driveability is far better, Ford should have offered these as an approved option.
  9. Let me know how you get on, as I would like to do the same, don't forget though the Ford radio size is not double DIN, its 1 and 3/4 DIN size.
  10. I had a warranty direct warranty for many years on my previous Galaxy, they did come down by about
  11. Here's a link to one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-GALAXY-00-06-EL...2|39:1|240:1318
  12. I had the centre pipe, rear box and connectors etc all fitted with a 3 year guarantee for
  13. What a shame I didn't ask to keep the old springs when I upgraded mine recently, you could have had them for free.
  14. Its the wires between the boot and the car loom that have worn and split, when opening and shutting the boot, they will need soldering or connecting back together, it'll be obvious when you pull back the plastic cover.
  15. Its not just Ford, as vehicle manufacturers release new cars they are plagued with teething problems, a mate of mine has had his Audi Q7 (brand new) off the road for 3 months out of 8, due to major faults.
  16. Your car is under warranty still, unless you've been excessively towing, I would say they should pay out in full to fix it.
  17. I have an 04 plate 1.9tdi 130bhp Galaxy too, and the clutch pedal is easy to use. Not sure of a quick fix, other than a clutch replacement, which could be costly. Maybe the clutch cable has stretched over time, or something around the pedal needs lubricating.
  18. You always have the option of discussing your case at a magistrates court instead of the fixed penalty and fine.
  19. HO HO HO, he's been ! 5am this morning, yawn........

Yep, wish it was mine !
  21. You bet me too it bigjeeze, must have been typing the reply at exactly the same time !
  22. Possibly the MAF (Mass Airflow Filter), do a search on the topic, its a regular problem, but very cheap and easy to DIY fix.

    My Galaxy

Took this photo the other day of my Galaxy, it was a rare 'clean' moment for it, so captured it quick !
  24. I have sent you a PM. If anyone wants me to recommend a local garage that specialises in fitting these I can. It is in West Yorkshire, they also come guaranteed.
  25. Sorry to hear about your problems with your beloved Galaxy, its just awful when these things happen. I would be tempted to allow the insurance company to take it away, and buy another one with the proceeds, here is a link to one I found that look ok on AutoTrader. http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...icleRegLetter=T Or this one, but be quick ! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUPERB-1999-FORD-GAL...id=p3913.c0.m22 or try the motor auctions, I got mine from one: http://www.british-car-auctions.co.uk/
