Rattle From Drivers Door Or Dash Area?
jkspoff replied to tpurch's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
Try the bit of trim in the A pillar on the dash and the bit of trim between the door and dashboard that covers up the edge of the dash, these were areas where I found mine rattled, put some cardboard bits in and it stopped. -
Its a mk3 as its a 2007 TDCi.

Hi, and welcome, I'm on my second Galaxy as the first one had major issues that I threw so much money at it was getting daft, so I tried 3 other cars in 6 months ! and eventually got another Galaxy as I missed it so much. Is yours the newest mk3 one ?

Sounds like a sensible option in this uncertain economic climate, however you will definately miss the Gal, I did when I changed and then came back. Can I be cheeky and ask what deal you got on the Cee'd ?

Overheating Issue 115tdi
jkspoff replied to rayc's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sadly, I had a 2001 115PD Ghia, (not the same one I assume!) and I eventually sold it, as like you I threw money at it but never solved the exact issues that your having. -
Just check the specifications against the Ghia spec, if it has it then its a Ghia ?? Radiotwo: the RAC link works for free when you put in the vehicle reg and click next, it then gives you the vehicle spec only before the

As per the RAC one, its totally free for this info.

Go to http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehicle-checks/car-data-check/ type in your registration number in the box and follow the instructions, for free it'll tell you the make and model and year etc before you have to pay anything.

Hi, I hope the forum will bring answers to all your problems. Use the 'search' feature at the top the screen as a lot of these issues are known and have been discussed in length before. Good luck.

Parrott Mki 9200 Car Kit
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
I know I contradicted myself, but once I got the radio out to move where they had put the iPod cable (they stated it couldn't be put in the top bin) I realised that it had been poorly wired up, the microphone wire was just hanging under the dash and the trim was left hanging off with wires poking out under the centre console, didn't notice any of this when I first posted ! All sorted now, should have gone back to complain really, but couldn't be bothered, the old saying: 'if you want a job doing well, do it yourself' ! -

Just one point to add, don't get Halfords to fit it though ! -

jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
The 9200 is also voice recognition, and it actually works ! It involves no training and picks up straight away all the voice activated commands meaning hands free operation. The menus speak so when dialling up the relevant command it speaks the menu so you don't need to take your eyes off the road. Clever system with upgradeable firmware as and when its released from Parrot. -

Rear Wiper's Erratic Behaviour
jkspoff replied to Caff's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its a common fault with the low quality wires between door and boot joints, the next thing that might stop working are the electric windows in the rear, its the same problem, split wires due to wear and tear. -
Parrott Mki 9200 Car Kit
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Thanks for your help, I took the central bins out today easily and fed the cable up through the dash (slicing my hand at the same time !) and out through the hole into the middle bin, lot better for iPods etc for connecting to Parrot car kit. Also sorted out the wiring that Halfords numpty hadn't put in properly. I would highly recommend the Parrot MKI9200 car kit for phones and iPod etc. -

Thats the central storage bin on the top of the dashboard ? Did you have to drill a hole through and is there quite a bit of space for cables ? Thanks -
Parrott Mki 9200 Car Kit
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Does anyone know: if I remove the base of the middle storage bin on the dashboard if it goes down behind the heater controls etc, if not if I drilled a hole in it whats underneath it ? As I am thinking about bringing the wires to the ipod up into the centre storage bin ? -
Parrott Mki 9200 Car Kit
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Yes the offside has a rear electric quarter opening window, but not the nearside, I think its something to do with rear curtain airbag on the last of the Mk2's. The switch is just off camera. -
Parrott Mki 9200 Car Kit
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
I have had the kit fitted today, all I can say is wow, its superb, connects to my ipod and Nokia automatically and allows me to view the same display as the ipod on the parrot screen, meaning that I can remotely navigate the ipod from the steering wheel controller that comes with the kit, so the ipod can be put out of view. The audio clarity from the telephone is superb, very clear through the cars speakers. The kit was installed for me by Halfords (all included in price) and I can highly recommend it, very neat and tidy, with the cable for the ipod going anywhere you want it, hidden away behind the trim. The Parrot screen can be easily removed for security too. Its a great all in one kit. Here are a couple of poor (in the dark on mobile phone) photos ! http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits -
Having one of these fitted, I was wondering if anyone else had got one, or something similar. The great thing about this kit is that you can connect any MP3 player including iPod etc and its a bluetooth voice recognition hands free kit too. all through the cars speakers. Take a look at the link for more info, I will post some pictures when its fitted. http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-free-car-kits

Is it a new part or a 'recon part' ? -

You are perfectly right, I know that fast fit centres are rips off and charge OTT prices, but I just don't trust myself to mess with the brakes when I'm carting my family around. I wish I had the know how, and I would save loadsa money !

The quick fitters do a lifetime warranty on pads as long as you own the car, plus they'll beat the price of any other local fitter, I am not a great fan of them and they might well be dearer than DIY but well worth it in the long run.
