  1. Well I used to own a Ford Galaxy that had over heating issues, but it wasn't Y587, it was Y58 SU...... I had to get rid of it as the overheating issues just couldn't be solved, even after a new radiator, new pipes, new water pump, new header tank and cap etc etc, I think in the end it must have been a cracked head, maybe a hairline fracture, as the water level in the header tank was always in need of filling, but there was no obvious leak anywhere. I eventually traded it in, the garage knew the problem and said they would fix it before selling it on. The Galaxy was remapped professionally for a while, but then started overheating, so I had the remap put back to the original Ford factory settings, but it still overheated, so it was sold with the original Ford spec mapping. I was sad to see it go, infact I even tried to find where it had gone after I bought a car (Laguna!) which was awful, I owned it for 3 weeks and sold it to buy an ST220 Mondeo, which was fab but couldn't afford to run it, so sold it, and bought a Galaxy from auction which I still have now and its superb. Soooo to cut a long story short I don't think we're talking about the same Galaxy that I traded a couple of years ago !
  2. Have it lowered to -50mm Gmax springs, lowers the Galaxy for easier access and improves the handling at the same time ! The boot is easier to access too for heavy items.
  3. Thanks for the link, they look excellent, I wonder who fits them professionally, as I don't fancy trying it myself. Are they called car retrimmers or something ?
  4. Got my entire rear section fitted with 3 years guarantee from Charlie Browns for
  5. Just put two Continental Contact 2's on the front of my Galaxy, they are non standard sizes for my wheels, 235-40-18's and they stick to the road like glue compared to anything I've had before. Bit pricey though.
  6. Go to local Ford 'rapid fit' centre, as they use genuine Ford parts and will match any other quote.
  7. True ! Shame it doesn't fit the Galaxy mk2 slot, only with an adapter, but then there's the large gap under it and renders the multichanger useless, however I can't remember the last time I used my mulitchanger, come to think of it, I bet there are some discs in there from years ago.......must go look now.........
  8. http://www.parrot.com/parrot-rki8400/ I want one, but need an iphone first !
  9. These are very hard and rare to come by, more so for the mk2 that I've got. Been looking for a set for a couple of years now but still not find any decent ones. I think the only option is to get the existing seats professionally retrimmed.
  10. I prefer to use one of these (link below), I don't even get my hands dirty and don't need to remove the undertray or sump plug, as a tube slots down the dip stick hole and sucks it all out, right down to the sump, then you can suck out the oil remaining in the oil filter housing too. http://www.gelplane.co.uk/pelapumps/6000use.asp
  11. Its not Y58... is it ??
  12. I have the basic breakdown package with the AA (roadside) this has cost me just
  13. Excellent, glad to hear it performed well for you, its always a bit of a gamble taking a slightly older car abroad, but if you maintain it well, it doesn't really matter about the mileage. I hope to take mine to southern Portugal next summer for a few weeks. Did you take out additional breakdown cover for Europe ?
  14. Buy a Parrot MKi9200, I had one fitted and its superb. Controls any iPod and charges it. Wireless bluetooth hands free car kit through cars speakers. Remote control can be placed anywhere in the car etc etc http://www.parrot.com/uk/products/hands-fr.../parrot-mki9200
  15. Looks a mess, thought mine were bad ! Buy some sill protectors from VW and patch up yours the best you can with rust proofing, then cover them over with the plastic side panels. Buying mine from VW soon when I have some spare cash. (
  16. If you change the battery will it loose the memory for the immobiliser ? You can always put the key in the drivers side and turn it clockwise once, which turns off the immobiliser/alarm and then turn it fully to open the door, this is incase of battery failure.
  17. The unit is double DIN, the Galaxy aperture on standard radio fittings is DIN 1.5 size, so yes it would need a new faceplate fitting. I would also like to fit one, so if you find out how and what bits you needed then please let me know.
  18. These surveys are unfortunately wholly inaccurate and provided only by 0.02% of owners !
  19. Amazingly enough, never ask a main dealer for their opinion on the Galaxy as they are totally clueless (the ones I've dealt with anyway - the white bear is a clue !). Phone Ford UK technical help instead or post on here as you've done !
  20. Car supermarkets..............I learnt my lesson a few years back, never ever again will I buy a secondhand car from one of these wholesale dumps, its no wonder most of them are in receivership, now that people have seen the light they don't go back for another go, unless its to buy brand new in which case there are some good savings ! Cut out the middle man and buy one from an auction.
  21. You shouldn't really have had to pay a penny as the car is within 30 days of purchase, however as you mention, a new alternator will be a good thing to have for such a low price.
  22. Thats is a good price, can you leave the car with them ? Is it a 1 day turnaround ?
  23. Replace your pollen filter, its a 30 minute job and will cost you between 10 and
