Noise When Turning Steering Wheel
jkspoff replied to John George's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Good old Ford dealer does it again ! Took it in today and asked them to take a look at the Galaxy, only took it there as it was the only garage that could book it in last minute. Went through the process of dropping it off and arranging a lift home etc etc, explained the problem and then left it with them. By 3pm heard nothing, so rang them to ask them if it was diagnosed yet, they said 'nothing wrong with it mate, come and pick it up' !!! even though it sounds like a tractor when turning the wheel, so I asked them when the intended to inform me it was ready, they ignored the comment. Apparently they checked the car without even removing the wheels. They then had the ordasity to ask for a diagnostic fee of -

Noise When Turning Steering Wheel
jkspoff replied to John George's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I am going to show my ignorance now, here goes: I have a noise when steering too, mostly when stationary/idling, it started yesterday and can be heard as a rumble/knocking when turning the wheel, if it is the same problem as above, how can it be to do with the alternator pulley ? I would have thought it was more like a CV joint or drive shaft something ? Any ideas before I take it to the dreaded garage tomorrow ? -

My New 18" Wheels & Lowering Springs
jkspoff replied to Deanoecosse's topic in Customising your Ford Galaxy
The vibration over 80mph (on a test track of course!) is yet to be rectified. I have a feeling its a CV joint or drive shafts, as just tonight when steering there is a rumbling/knocking noise coming from the front end, will pop it into garage tomorrow for them to have a look at. The wheels and tyres were an ebay bargain, 19" alloys and Avon reinforced tyres new, all for -

Had my tracking checked today and it was a long way out, had new wheels and tyres fitted, 19" alloys with Avon 235 35 19 tyres, they need spigot rings fitting though to stop vibration at high speed, anyone any idea what size I need ? Audi-Ford size ? -
Good work Glen, I thought for a moment the forum was gone forever, whatever would we have done without our shared technical expertise and experience and banter !

I have just upgraded my wheels from 18 to 19 inch, same style RS6, with 235 35 19 Avon tyres. All I need to do now is not curb them !

There are some very cheap mk2 Galaxies on ebay at the moment, if you are prepared spend a few grand, they are decent spec too, just make sure all the usual things work first before bidding and buy a warranty for a few hundred quid ! -

The 'captains chair' are front seats only that rotate, not the standard rear seats, these are standard fit, but yes you are right in thinking the integrated child seat has to be a whole new seat. Here is just what you are after: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SHARAN-GALAXY-ALHAMB...14#ht_799wt_941
