mpg on the diesel Nitro is realistically between 23 and 28 at best. I wanted to like it but just can't, one of the other things I noticed is just how small the windows are in it. When you sit in the drivers seat and put the seat right down your still looking out of the top part of the windscreen, I'm 6'3, so nothing unusual.

They are right hand drives over here. I don't take any notice of a few Top Gear or Channel 5 journalists etc as they have absolutely no idea what makes a good car, just what makes entertaining TV. However most of the 14 other reviews I read on-line are against it, so there was only one thing left to do: I went to test drive one this morning at my JCT600 Dodge local garage and in my opinion it looks the business on the outside but as soon as you get inside and drive it, the feeling I had for it changed. Its very noisy, poor handling (worse than most 4x4's) harsh ride, poor quality feel, rattly, only 5 seats, massive exterior but tiny interior, but somehow I still quite liked the element of driving a 'Tonka toy', it made me feel 10 years old again ! But no I won't be buying one, even though the salesman offered me an 08 one for

Air Con Leak Seal In A Can
jkspoff replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
These cans of gas/sealant do sometimes work, my wifes Renault Scenic had a leaking air con pipe somewhere deep amongst the engine bay, I used a can of this a year ago and its been fine since without any further top ups. Its sometimes worth a try before throwing hundreds and maybe thousands of pounds at the A/C system, for the sake of 30 quid ! -
My thoughts now too, having read a few reviews on it. http://fwd.five.tv/cars/off-road/dodge-nitro

The Dodge Nitro's are fetching low low prices, seen an 08 one today for 12k fully specced, I bet they don't drive as well as they look though, but it is actually quite tempting.......must resist........as I think they'll turn out to be pants ! Anyone any experience of them ?

I lost the immobiliser chip out of my galaxy key whilst on holiday in Scotland (a long story, involving kids taking key apart !) a few years ago, the Galaxy was AA relayed to a Ford main dealer and a VW main dealer next door, neither of which could do anything to start it or bypass the immobiliser, I had to eventually get a spare key from home couriered up the next day, so it is either impossible or a complete change of the system. A good test of the security system !

Whos Problem Is It Really?
jkspoff replied to arryp0tter's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
We need to consider ourselves lucky, a mate of mine who bought himself (through the business) a Range Rover Sport, it is now on his second engine and gearbox ! and out of 12 months ownership its been off the road for 4 months !! -
I know its mostly under wraps and its is only a people carrier, but it doesn't exactly set my heart racing ! Why can't someone come up with a decent modern looking unique people carrier ?

Galaxy Fire After Clutch Disintegrated
jkspoff replied to kez1964's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Normally the engine fires on Ford Galaxys are caused by the wiring loom/fuse box located in the engine bay, as you mentioned above, this is a known issue, but not on the more recent models like your own. Try a Google search of Galaxy engine fires and it throws up lots of examples. -
I am selling my set of RS6 style 18" alloys which will fit the Galaxy/Alhambra and Sharan, 5stud, 42 offset, fitted with 225 40 ZR18 tyres, 2 are in perfect condition 1 has minor curbing and 1 has minor curbing repair. See pictures. All have good amount of tread and although I would prefer them collecting, I am happy to post but it will cost an extra

Had both mine replaced with a years warranty at my local fast fit centre for 50 quid, no hassle and didn't even get my hands dirty, that said, I should really have done them myself as this is a DIY forum !

I my opinion you have nothing to loose by letting them have a go, as your A/C is currently not working anyway. Let them do it and you might be pleasantly surprised.....

Yes, single opening rear quarter light.

OK, here goes maybe a daft question, I was thinking of getting my gas changed, how do you know if you have dual or single A/C ?? Mine has the roof mounted blowers in the rear, does that mean its dual ?

That looks wicked, wish I had the new Galaxy mk3 and I'd get one, do they do one for the mk2 facia ?

Excellent, makes funny reading, a good moral to the story too about a certain car retailer !

OIL TYPE USED - TDI ONLY
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Always worth checking when you book the car in for a Ford service that they use the correct oil, get them to itemise it on the invoice. (Ford oil with FINIS 1343522, 505.01 spec). -

Fan And Air Con Problems

Look here ! http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...ic=2227&hl= -
Get as much of it fixed and paid for by the dealer, then buy a warranty, the car has obvoulsy been neglected over the years, as soon as you have these things repaired I am sure it will give you many years of happy motoring, in hindsight it may have been worth checking it over more thoroughly first, but I'm sure it'll be ok. Whats the mileage ?

Yep totally agree with bigwheel, go for minimum spec Ghia with the extras, second hand values aren't a lot more with full spec. The sivel seats are good for family picnics, but can be a bit fiddly for the drivers side, with haveing to manoevre it around the steering wheel, but as mentioned above the flexibility is superb.
