  6. well i drove mine round for a few miles when mine sheared,NOT IDEAL but if you can keep the revs down AND NO HARD accelerating and ease the gears etc then it can be driven as i say NOT IDEAL,the damage that can occur is manifold/exhaust/maybe cat????and possible shaking the engine to bits??thats what i was told anyway.good luck, have you not got a kindly friend/neighbor who could help you out with the journey?
  7. it seems wiper spindles seizing is a common fault, there is a thread on here somewhere on how to take apart and re grease etc.
  8. if you read up in the guidelines for trainee members a lot of your questions will be answered. this is found in the trainee member help. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=11992
  9. yes i think that could be your problem the booster helps warm the engine etc, more so the cabin read up on here type in booster heaters, the thread is about as long as 'war and peace' but extremely informative, hth
  10. no problem, keep replying on this thread and the restrictions will soon be lifted :D
  11. likewise cromedome cars can be replaced/mended hope the little fella got another drink?.
  12. davvy, the most likely problem you are encountering is because you are a newbe you havnt made enough posts to allow you to see everything, make a few more(iirc its 5)then the restrictions should be lifted.hth.
  13. ian is your booster heater working correctly?.
  14. are the brushes something that you yourself could not replace?all you need is a donner set of brushes and a soldering iron and solder,im sure you can rob some from your drill.
  15. to MM and johny b goode hope you both have a good day,  hope you got your telegram from the queen johnny?

  18. maybe theres a code number on yours somewhere, you could try asking ford for the faulty batch codes to see if yours is included but i dont rate your chances of them giving out the info.
  19. to all members and there family's i hope you all have a very merry   christmas.
  20. any news about claiming dla?maz last time we chatted you were looking into it?
  21. from when i had my accident, iirc in litigation they expect you to keep your costs down to a minimum, but keep all receipts,buses/taxis/friends running you around etc etc this can all be claimed back from the 3rd partys insurance, and argue with them over the value of your car, dunno if they will tell you to dispose of the car yourself? (they did with mine)you might be able to get some more cash by selling the parts.
  22. mmmmmm WHY CAN HE NOT MAKE THE CHEQUE OUT FOR THE WHOLE AMOUNT YOU BOTH HAVE AGREED ON?????????????might be worth getting him to sign a bit of paper agreeing that this is just an interim payment of the whole amount that is owed to you,and dont be fobbed off by him saying times are tough, remember you had to find your hard earned to pay for the repairs to start with!!!!! but again this is only my opinion,if your happy with the situation then good luck and well done.
  23. well alan,as it stood before you were given any info on here about what you could do,you at first thought you were going to be out of pocket for the whole amount,so calling his bluff(rightly or wrongly)you might get an increase in the amount he has offered you, this might be worth having a chat with consumer direct to see what they could advise,or you could think that 500 quid is better then a poke in the eye and put it down to experience?only you m8 can make that decision.
  24. you havnt got a break in the wire have you?ive had new ones recently fitted and the light went out straight away.
  25. i think you are doing the right thing maz by following the good advice that has been expressed on here, iirc if your car does get written off you can be offered the car back at a price or it is given back to you less the value of the car(that they think)its worth then you can get it repaired a lot cheaper,i think it then needs to be checked out that the repairs are satisfactory.bear in mind the it was a frontal collision how is your back/neck etc and your childrens dont forget whiplash can come on a few days after, have you all been checked over?,dont worry over your no claims if its proven it wasnt your fault it wont(?)affect you or shouldnt. remember she has to prove your at fault which is going to be dificult if you have the witnesses  ,she is just trying to blame you for her mistake and not accepting liability, which iirc states in the insurance books 'never say its your fault' .
