1.9tdi Engine Revved Off The Scale!
Mirez replied to nkp1962's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Turbo's failed and the oil seals have gone - you now have oil in the intake system hence why its revving up. Replace the turbo then strip and clean the intercooler and pipework. -
Dvd Player Not Reading All Discs
Mirez replied to JDHogg's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Largely, playback problems are caused by a dirty lazer head/lense and a DVD disk requires much more accuracy then a normal cd player so if you are having some luck with the cleaning disk then it would indicate that is the problem. Are you using the CD cleaner dry or are you putting something on the brush first? To properly clean it you'll need to apply a cleaner to the brushes, ideally a light solvent solution such as IPA. If this fails then there is no reason why you couldn't remove it and clean it manually, just be carefull not to apply excess pressure to the lense and use a very soft cotton bud or lint free cloth. -
Seat Belts From Mk1 To Mk2 - Are They The Same?
Mirez replied to frogeye's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
VW Part numbers are made up of 3 blocks, the first is the platform, the second is the subsection and the third is the part number. Therefore if the part number and subsection havn't changed its almost certain that it will be the same part, the platform is largely irelevant in this case. -
Broken Locking Wheel Nut
Mirez replied to rickenma's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its a "McGuard" style locking nut you have, and its probably the key thats on the way out as they seem to be the weaker metal - look into the key and see what condition its in - a replacement should be easy enough to obtain if you have the keycode (if factory fitted ford should be able to provide the type and a fair few places have a master set for the Ford specific ones) Failing that you can try the garage favourite and hammer an old socket over the nut, you'll need to use a fair bit of force and make sure its on good before you try and undo it. On a final note, Halfords/ Lazer do a removal tool for locking wheel nuts but they don't seem to work that well on McGuard nuts. -
Blimey, Glad I didn't bid now as it would have been against you! They wern't able to tell me if it was a 3K or 5K unit so I didn't bother bidding but I did watch it close nad was amazed that no one bid - Congratulations!

In what way are they failing? Bending? Shearing? CV? Splines? Both O/S and N/S shafts are the same, patten parts are certainly not the way to go with the shafts - OEM only!

The multimedia unit (bit between the seats) needs to see an 'on' signal from the headunit. In real terms this is just a 12V feed to tell the media unit that the ignition is on and that it's ok to be on (and not flatten the battery). If the headunits been fiddled with then thats the first place to look, chances are the wiring has a ford to ISO adaptor on it for the kenwood unit. Most headunit's have a 12v out called "antenna out" - a fallback for other makes where some have electric antennas that go up when the radio turns on, in more modern headsunits its sometimes referred to as "Amp on" - See if the kenwood unit has this output and then see if there is an unused wire at the first part of the adaptor. From memory its a blue wire on the end of the power connector - check first, but I suspect you'll need to put the antenna out wire or a 12V ignition feed to that wire in order to put the system back on.

I just pulled down the cover, cos its next to the steering wheel, and they're all in there :D I'm not sure you've found relay 30 then as its in bank/layer 2 and not visible without dismantling stuff! Try here: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...amp;#entry68423

SPAL are indeed an aftermarket company, they do a lot of electrical things though including central locking, electric window kits and parking sensors. At a guess I would say it might be the parking sensors that you have as I can't see why either central locking or electric windows would need just one switch.
-
I was under the impression relay 30 is on the second bank, so you'll have to remove some trim to get to it - have you done this or just wriggled all the ones you can see?

FYI when I took the cloth off one of mine (the X reg one) to replace a ripped panel the holes for the armrests are there. It should be a case of just getting the armrests and fitting them but I think the issue it more that there isn't the space for them in 7 seat configuration.

Thats bad news but as I said before - really limit the miles you do with it, unburnt fuel passing onto the cat with kill it very quickly.
-
Happy birthday mate, have a good un
-
IF its dumping fuel down the exhaust you'll trash a new cat very quickly so be carefull!

If only I had that much tolerance in my day-to-day life! I certainly take your point about the role of support forums though, there are many that truely do believe they owe nothing to the forum and that it should bend over backwards for them. I can't help to wonder that if they take that attitude with a forum its no wonder they get such "interesting" service from a main dealer. I always try and be polite and tollerable with any company I deal with and, in general, I get the service I expect as a result.

First time in 4 years I am without a galaxy. As you know we bought a replacement recently which came with warranty (Good job too!) - The A/C packed up on the way home so I rang the dealer the next day and booked it in for last Friday. Its a bit of a trek as I live in Wiltshire and the Dealership is in Cornwall so we had last week off and took a small holiday down there at the same time. Anyway left the car friday and got it back Saturday with a new condenser and drier assembly, A/C extremely poor but asked to try it over the weekend and see if it recovered (Humm). Basically it didn't so went in again last Friday for a new compressor. Got a call on the Saturday to say the system was full of swarf from the old compressor and they were going to change the expansion chamber before running it up as a precaution. All good except that chamber won't be in until Tuesday. So I've been given a C-Max for the week and I have to say I love it - luckily for the Gal its Stephs car and she prefers it over the max so it'll be staying. So I've had a reasonably eventful week in the world of cars. I'm still happy though despite the inconvenience and the fact I've driven the new fiesta, the new KA and the C-Max in under a week I'm going to have virtually a completely new A/C system fitted by the end of it. And finally I've got out of quite a bit of DIY this weekdn as the max couldn't fit the plasterboard or floorboards in. Excellent!

For me, I'll continue to help everyone that I can - thats my nature and I believe the internet should be free for all. But then tigers was very civil to me so I've got no problem at all - I've been an admin (7 years now gulp) of fordmondeo.org (36,000 active members btw) for long enough to take forum posts with a pinch of salt - emotions and expressions never work properly when you are reading something so I don't take anything personally.
-
I probably could cobble something together, I have a Mondeo V6 Engine in the workshop a set of galaxy alloys, two Audi S4 headlights, these mirrors, a pug 106 interior a few more bits and bobs and finally an old caravan chassis. Not sure what that would look like though! :) Is MumOf4 still looking for a new car? :D:lol:

As title, Mk2 electric wing mirrors - both sides, Seem to go for around

If its the same as the mondeo (which I think they are) then she's enterered it incorrectly 3 times and its in semi lockout mode. You need to leave the ignition on (pos 2, engine hasn't got to be running) and radio on for 30 minutes, it'll then allow another attempt but if thats incorrect you'll be locked out for another 30 mins.

had a look at ETKA and it doesn't show indepth breakdown's just whole cluster's so its playing with voltmeter and resisters by looks of it. Thanks for that but I have ETKA, that seems more like fords Microcat (the parts catalogues) - Ford do TIS which has all the wiring diagrams complete which is what I'm hopefull of for SEAT. ;)
-
Anyone got Seats equivelent of TIS? Such a thing exist? I need the wiring diagram for the instrument cluster of an 02 alhambra top spec.

Few Bits, Any Interest Before The Bay?
Mirez replied to Mirez's topic in Cars and auto related items.
Ok Grill is now sold. The rack is from a 99 Ghia, its been sat in my shed for a couple of years now so the gaitors will probably need changing - the pipe ends have been bunged though and it was working perfectly on removal. I'm quite happy for someone to just have it as its cluttering my shed up! Warrington is near liverpool isn't it? You're looking at about 4 hours I think but BA13 is the postcode if you want to check. -
Hi Its a galaxy 1.9 tdi zetec automatic, t reg 1999. Many thanks Chris Possible cooling fan issue, it could well be that when the main fan is engaged (hot and loaded) with the second fan on (aircon) there is an internal short. From what I have read the fan's do fail from time to time.
