Sounds like the cables need adjusting. The Ford procedure requires a special tool to lock the gearlever in a certain position and adjustment is carried out at the gearstick end under the centre console. looks rather tricky.

:o Definitely not recommended! :o

You could try disconnecting battery to reset the PCM (nb radio code will be lost). Pre ignition might be due to carbon build up as you suggest but its only done 48k, check the plugs are the correct type, the heatrange may be wrong. Alternatively you could use super unleaded.

Malfunctioning Cd Multi-changer

ABS systems are always fail safe. Without ABS working, normal braking is maintained. But as far as I know, if a vehicle is fitted with ABS then it must be working to pass the MOT. Yes early base models didn't have ABS as standard, but the tester will see the ABS lamp. taken from MOT website http://www.motcentrefinder.co.uk/nav/info_...nts.html#brakes Brakes Parking brake lever mechanism Must be in good condition. Must be fully operational. Hand operated brake control valves Service brake control Anti-lock braking system Mechanical brake components Hydraulic, air and vacuum systems Brake performance Must be in good condition Must be fully operational and will be tested for efficiency

There are several fuse layouts depending on the year of manufacture. In my 96 Seat Alhambra manual it says that F24 is located above the relays. On 95 to late 97 models, F24 (Green 30A) is the main supply fuse which supplies the K175 wiper relay. See later post for layout diagram. The following 2 pics are not of interest to Karimata but I'll leave them for reference. On 98 to mid 2000 models, the layout and numbering is as in the pics below.

Wise man. ;) Have you checked your brake lights and cruise control are working correctly (in case its a brake switch problem which are quite common). Also you could try disconnecting one sensor at its multiplug and see if it makes a difference to the speed at which it faults. You need to fix it for your MOT of course ;)

Advice On How To Reset Airbag Test Warning

Disconnect the battery for 2 or 3 minutes and reconnect. Note radio code will need to be reset after this. -
Intermittent Windscreen Wiper Action
seatkid replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
He's talking about front wipers isn't he? Do the wipers self park ok when switched off from normal speed settings? Possibly faulty Intermittent wiper relay K11 -
No it should activate above approx 3 mph, but there might be a time delay of two or three seconds before the ABS/Traction control faults (by which time your doing 15 mph) Try driving at 6 or 7 mph constantly to test this theory. The only "inputs" are the wheel rotation sensors and brake pedal switch, ABS/TC works out speed, acceleration etc from them and looks at the % difference in speed/accelleration of the wheels to determine slip. Diagnostics will show what is wrong but I would check the multiplugs and wiring near the sensors first.

Reconnecting Gearbox Mount To Base Battery Holder
seatkid replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yeah! and don't do it again!...you scared us half to death..(thinking he didnt go under the car did he? ;) ). and did you find that battery cap? ;) What is about caps, bolts, nuts etc. that always leap into the most inaccesible parts of the engine bay? -
On a Mk 1 with ignition off, press and hold trip button, turn ignition on and after 4 or 5 secs the service indicator clears. Never seen a dealer reset this indicator properly, I believe intervals are programmable via VAGCOM. Might be different with yours, try a search.

Sounds like no signal from one of the 4 wheel sensors. Check the wiring to the sensors. You can see this wiring easily in the front wheel arches (there's also a connector there - check that)

There are 2 fuses F5 (10A Red) and F24 (30A Green).

Hmmm let me see...;) Pin 1 Brown Ground Pin 2 Black +12V from K175 Wiper relay Pin 3 White power to Wiper motor Pin 4 Violet power to Wiper motor Pin 5 Green +12v in when Slow or one touch selected Pin 6 Red +12v in when Fast selected If you have a meter you should be able to see if the module is getting the right inputs (1=0V,2=+12V ,5 or 6=+12v depending on speed) You should be able to get the module seperately.. Are you sure the mechanism is not jamming/overloading the module as I think it may have overload protection? This TIS may be of interest too

Engine Warning Light
seatkid replied to Richmond's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
see here for reasons why the light comes on. (then search for MI lamp) -
I find that hard to believe. Got these two FAQs off http://www.motcentrefinder.co.uk/nav/faq/quick_faq.html The back door on my peugeot doesnt open, will my car fail its MOT Test? No, the rear doors only have to latch securely in the closed position. Are child proof locks part of the mot's requirements as mine do not operate properly and are causing my doors not to open? No, the rear doors only have to latch securely in the closed position. So back doors dropping should be no problem..

Engine Warning Light
seatkid replied to Richmond's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
;) hehe nice one Ivor.. Remember reading somewhere that misfires can trigger this (emission monitoring software in the ECU) Weedy rear washer = leaking under carpet pipe!!! Maybe a damp ECU if its one that under the seats. It probably froze and came apart like mine did a few years back. Serves you right for going on exotic holidays (just jealous). -
I'm told the problem is caused by people using the door as support when they climb in or out.
-
I wonder how they clean that, do they pull it apart and wash it out? And with what?

Malfunctioning Cd Multi-changer
seatkid replied to Ivor_E_Tower's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Haven't got a CD changer but... If you've got more than one CD loaded in the magazine, have you tried selecting another CD so that the internal mechanism shuffles about. Does it still play? Or is a cd jammed? Maybe there is an emergency manual ejection hole like computer CD players have. -
Whats a PCV?

Tell the dealer and if he's not prepared to do anything report them to Ford. Report them to Fords anyway for gross negligence.
