  1. Yes I think so. <_< You still haven't given us the numbers - the MOT station is obliged to give you the details of the emission test results.....if they didnt give you the printout on the day, then it's pointless asking now - they would only be lying if they said they had them...
  2. Really? Like what was the result? (numbers please) Sounds reasonable - has it been serviced recently (by a dealer?) Please elaborate. What did the garage that did the MOT suggest the solution was? (i.e. How much did they want to fix it? :o ) Do I sound cynical or what?
  3. Check the right fuses!! for Mk1 galaxies built after 09/98 the relevant fuses are F33 (30A) F28 (10A) for Mk1 galaxies built 1998 up to 09/98 the relevant fuses are F29 (5A) F8 (30A) F28 (10A) F28 is the one that is common to your failures..
  4. I don't belieeevve it! (a la Victor Meldrew). I tell you the thing that will kill off the Shalaxy will be the customer service or rather total lack of it...... Similar attitude to my aircon problems - 2 months out of warranty - "naff off sir!"
  5. The relief valves unloading noise on full lock is usually not very noisy. If the noise is a loud graunching or trumpeting type noise as you turn the wheel towards full lock - this is due to a design fault caused by fluid oscillation in the piping to the steering pump. I have this occurr occassionally, as usual the dealers couldn't find the problem under warranty  , but there is a Ford TIS on the subject and revised pipes are availbale to overcome the probem. I just live with it.
  6. B) Hey Ivor - ignore the digs:mellow: We know u  ya Galaxy Keep up the good work.... ^_^ Did u know that springs can be fitted the wrong way round? Thats what the two yellow paint blobs are for.....(or four if youve just had a ford dealer refit them  )
  7. Overfilling is not the problem here and is not a danger for your engine - the problem with overfilling (but by a lot more than you have) is possible damage to the catalytic converter. NO! If your light flickers you should take it seriously. It may be a faulty switch but it also could be a real oil pressure fault. Oil pressure relief valves have been known to stick open and pump housings can leak in various ways. There may be a blockage in the oil intake pipe... Low oil pressure will invariably lead to total engine failure! :D I would change the switch straight away and not drive anywhere until I have satisfied myself the problem is fixed!
  8. Theres been 2 posters recently who reported that theirs were fitted with 7.5A (brown) fuses. No wonder they blew at the first sign of winter... Personally I wouldnt be surprised if the dealers put in whatever they pick up out of their mixed bag of fuses! :D  :D :D Putting in a larger fuse could in theory lead to a fire, unless the manufacturer has confirmed that its OK. (in writing and so taken on the liability)
  9. Partly correct... The colour denotes the rated life of the bulb - IIRC orange is 5000 hr rated as opposed to blue 1000 hr. Orange ones are slightly dimmer because they are underun. If you want to pay four times as much as at a Delphi distributor (or six times as much other places)
  10. Hehe! :( Your mudflaps are doing the job they're designed for sir, scraping the mud off the road... :D BTW Ivor, did'nt realise you attached your front flaps to the front bumper! As the ford dealers usually say, give them a few hundred miles and they should bed in sir, hasta la vista!.... :D
  11. Yet another reason to stick with my Mk I
  12. Seen a wiring diagram on another ford model (can't remember which) that has an "Octane" plug, evidently used to set the fuel octane for the PCM. With it being a VW engine maybe its programmable via VAGCOM.
  13. I don't think switching off the climate control will cut off the outside air positively (in the way recirc does) - having said that, I don't know if recirc is switched off when you turn off the system. I have got into the habit of turning off my cc for the first 3 or 4 miles, the engine warms up a lot quicker, and I don't get cold/damp air faffing about. The heated seats do the biz. I think my cc must have failed its exams, I don't think its that intelligent, its certainly stubborn to obey my commands - turn up the fan a bit - doh! not that much - doh! more than that - cr*p! Whys it decided to blow like mad all of a sudden? (Ford dealer - there's nothing wrong sir  :o ) I reckon the reason most people on the forum are so happy is the amount of R134A they inhale from their leaking evaporators!!! Biggest gripe with the ventilation is you can't get cool(er) air from the face vents with the heating on.
  14. My daughter is being taught at the moment to pull the handbrake up with the button in, "because it wears the handbrake if you keep the button out" - wot a load of bo***cks. No wonder she has a problem in engaging the handbrake properly, (she cant decide how hard to pull and when to release the button :o ). The ratchet is there for a reason.......USE IT! :P
  15. No, it doesnt matter which way round the bulb goes. Yes its on permanently (with the ignition on or lights on) and yes it dims (slightly) when you turn on the headlights. I suppose it would be too bright if it didn't dim. Did you know if you wear polarised sunglasses :o , the digital clock becomes invisible from the drivers position (it turns black)?
  16. Warning :o Rant approaching... Personally I decided a few years ago that mudflaps are not a desirable thing to have on a car. Certainly on golfs, vauxhalls etc they have a tendency to scrape and catch the ground on humps etc. My big gripe is they always seem to lead to corrosion in the area they're mounted (Recently confirmed on my Golf), they collect mud and s**t between them and the bodywork which is not so easy to clean out and they also act as great air brakes. I think they're ugly, if they were attractive to a designer, I believe they would be designed in from the start like the sills on a BMW 3 series. :P
  17. Step 3: Use screwdriver or long nose pliers (depends on bulb fitted) to twist bulb anti clockwise quarter turn to release. The bulb is a 1.2W 12V PCB mount bulb - if you pay more than 90p you're being ripped off - the bases come in a variety of colours blue/black/orange - any will do. Farnell part no is 141-355 Installation is the reverse of removal <_<
  18. step 2: you can remove the connector by squeezing the tabs and pulling
  19. step 1 Prise out clock <_<
  20. Bizzarefish can't count <_< its fuse 33 and it should be 10A(Red) 2 fuses for wipers (MkII) before 05/2001 F24 (30A Green), F20 (15A Blue) after 05/2001 F24 (30A Green), F33 (10A Red) A brown fuse is only 7.5A and probably why its blown
  21. Nik Nak: - MkII Heated Windscreen Check the correct fuses F73 (50A) and F32 (5A)
  22. When the display clears, release the trip button and turn the ignition off straight away.
  23. Can't you read? This is a Ford Galaxy forum.
  24. Wait a moment, I didn't make it clear there are two relays too. The wiper (main) relay K175 and the intermittent (delay) wiper relay K11. It sounds as if you havent checked K175 yet, location as below (I finally found fuse relay layout diagram for 95 - late 97 models)
