  1. Very revealing that thanks, and it's so true - The Gal does drive extremely well. It's probably the reason we are so tolerant about it's common failures.
  2. I used to repeat myself But I'm alright now  But I'm alright now
  3. Might be an idea to get someone to follow you for a while on roads that are reasonably quiet. That could give you a little space to find the speed it happens at without someone else slipping into the gat between you. Bugger innit?
  4. Seems like a lorra lorra people can't add up  The quote looks like it's just short of
  5. If the tensioner is continually going back and forth you probably need a new alternator pully too
  6. The wiring doesn't need to go between the pipe and caliper, it was probably just assembled that way at the factory before the brake pipes were fitted. It's a good way to establish if the pads are those fitted from new as a sort of mileage check? My front pads lasted for 33k miles from new - I'm well pleased at that for an auto
  7. Put the AC on for a while - look for a steady leak on to where a front passengers right foot would be. look up behind the glove box to see if condensation drips from the evaporator. If so the outlet pipe is either disconnected or blocked. I do not know where that pipe is though
  8. Erm - he seems to be in cobham, Surrey?... near-on the most expensive place on the planet methinks
  9. At the very least get a second opinion from an auto gearbox specialist. Main dealers do not repair gearboxes - they only replace them. Having said that a repair would still cost a load of labour - but a specialist would be cheaper than the dealer
  10. That sounds like such a fib Maz ^_^
  11. Good - a little known tip... don't wash the car while the discs are very hot as cold water striking a hot disc could be causing it to warp a tad.
  12. Wherever it goes will be the wrong direction - unless you install sat nav to correct it's way of thinking :D
  13. Just keep ya fingers crossed mick - yer billy's brother right? :D
  14. Hmm... does the rear washer work?
  15. I cracked open a Stella once... took me ages to get rid of her afterwards
  16. I had not sptted the flat's on the "shoulder" - well done Neil. Maybe possible to tap out a larger thread to hold it - or perhaps if they are removed and cleaned up you might get a better crack if the bolt moves in the nut sort of thing
  17. If your handy with a file you could enlarge the gap that the bolt tightens so that it closes further?
  18. The lugs behind the shoulder suggest it's a tensioner device that shifts corresponding teeth of a component that is pivoted and locked up elsewhere - in this case your power steering pump. Some alternator belts are also tensioned in this way. Given that the belt is tight and you don't refer to any power steering issues I would say don't do anything untill it breaks. Now whats that rusty old spring doing there?
  19. As has pointed out - the PD engine is VERY oil specific. Pity you don't have a PD to try it in for a few thousand miles then Steveoo
  20. I'd say stop the wife from driving it for now - and maybe check ya wheel bolts before moving it again... just in case like. It does sound like warped discs - but the Galaxy wheel bolts hold the disc in place.
  21. First point to note - I have never used my gal to tow anything. Second point to note... The autobox is running at near its maximum load ability with a car full of adults. This of course COULD be a problem if you also propose to tow a caravan.
  22. Kinnel - I'm sure we all thought of that - but were too polite to insult you with that sort of basic advice :)
  23. Read this thread - your answers should be there somewhere http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...ost&p=95499
  24. dunno what the worlds coming to... dirty dancing with a vectra :angry2:
