Well start another if you're fed up with this one and stop moaning

SK, fighting back the temptation to dish out some smart ass remark, you have my condolenses mate, it must have really pissed you off. I have to say, youre very brave to tell all on here, especially after you have dished it out so well in the past. Good luck with the repairs, hope it works out OK. Regards - JB P.S. If your better half had refuelled it last time she was out, you wouldn't have had to - thus proving it WAS her fault really.

Not on a diesel it won't, especially a turbo diesel  Regards - JB

And whats the consequence of breaking "The Rule", how on earth do you go backwards ? or do you mark the lever -10 :D What gear do you engage for 45? Sounds a bit tricky to me, I'll stick with my auto thanks. My Auto drops into 5th at 35mph, no drama, no problem, seems quite happy. Regards - JB

I suspect that due to this particular Gal's history, a control unit would be a good idea. Regards - JB

You could get the one off your motor rebuilt, shouldn't cost the eart, usually new brushes with rectifier and control unit as options. Regards - JB

Not quite sure thats the sort of help / advice / sympathy required at this point my boy. It's perhaps a good thing that this is internet based and not down at the local. ;)

Come on, the suspense is killing us.

Yep, go for it, give em hell and take up your rightful place aiming your gal. Regards - JB

About To Buy A 2.8 V6 Lpg Convert - Q's ?
johnb80 replied to a topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Firstly I personally wouldn't be happy with an LPG converted car, been there, done that, wouldn't go back again (never had any problems with my LPG'd Range Rover but just don't like the safety aspect.) There are a few people on here runninG LPG's galaxies and they all seem quite happy so if it floats your boat - go for it. What to look out for:- Make sure everything is working, all electrics etc. Get an inspection for the LPG done, without it you won't get insurance (unless you don't tell them, in which case you're then not insured). LPG engines will last longer due to less oil contamination etc It's greener than petrol MOT's without a CAT are possible Check for the dreaded timing chain rattle on cold start Make sure the engine under cover is fitted When driving the changeover from petrol to gas should be seemless, no cough, splutter or flashing lights and ditto when changing back. Usually the changeover to gas occurs under acceleration and back to petrol on overrun when the fuel selection has been made. There will be a performance drop on LPG because the timing on the Galaxy won't change when running on gas (it needs a lot more advance) but there should still be plenty from a V6 You could always of course do it properly and get a diesel (had to get that in to keep VR6GALAXY on his toes). How Long Is Your Warm Up ?
johnb80 replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thermostat opening too early would seem to be the logical answer. Regards - JB -
If you put your foot on the accelerator does it keep running i.e. is the fault it just won't tickover? If so, you've probably left a vacuum pipe off the inlet manifold somewhere. Regards - JB

Condensation/mayonaise Oil Filler Cap
johnb80 replied to norwichbluenose's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If the aux heater isn't working it will make the mayo situation worse due to very extended warm up times. If you fix the heater the mayo will probably disappear. Regards - JB -
and empties your pockets and fuel tank with even greter ease :P

Disconnect the MAF, if there's little or no difference then the MAF is favourite. Regards - JB

Personally I would not buy any car that had been used for towing.....too much scope for abuse... Mmmm, not sure I agree with you, it sounds to me like some drivers on here drive like the stig all the time anyway, that gives the car way more abuse than me towing my trailer. It's a good anti crumple device for the back end too. Regards - JB

Mine are now 21,500 and still going, almost ready to be changed but still well on the legal side). As I have said many times, I am a gentle driver though which seems is now paying dividends. Regards - JB
