Just looking in from the outside, what does it matter to you if you were happy to throw it away? It could be argued that it's more environmentally friendly that useable stuff is taken out of the skips and used again. I personally make a point of anything that might have value I mention to the operators and yes they normally take it, the plus side is that if I take my towavan trailer on the back of the Gal, they will raise the barrier for me  Regards - JB

Hi, I didn't receive your mail  john@lincit.com is my email address of PM me on here. Okay, small claims court, a few obvious points really you must catalogue and document the events from start to finish, copies of receipts, reports etc crucial. The one thing I havent asked is where did you buy the car from and have you had it from new? The way the law works is that you take action against the retailler who will pass it on to Ford. It is for the retailer to prove that the goods were not faulty rather than you to prove they were, so simply asking them to explain how a clutch can fail so early if it wasn't faulty should leave them high and dry. When / if you go to court, the case is normally heard by a magistrate in the chambers at the back of the court, you all sit round a conference table so it's not as intimidating as going into a full court. You (the plaintiff) will be given chance to give the full story, the otherside (defendant will give theirs) you can question each other and the judge may ask a few questions before making his decision. You can do all of this online to start the ball rolling, I prefer to do it by post to the court for the supporting documentation. Details of how to make a claim and fees etc can be found here. It does sometimes look like a lot of bother, it's not, the court service is very helpfull and when you leave court having won you feel great. What you need to do now is:- 1) Send them a recorded delivery letter giving them 7 days to settle and warn them about court etc. 2) If they ignore that then send another stating that you are forwarding papers to the court 3) Send the papers to the court and enjoy your day. Regards - JB

Often on this sort of display, the connections are made via conductive rubber. If you're brave enough, take the unit out, take it apart, clean the pcb, rubber strip and display with meths. Re-assemble carefully and I would gamble 90% it will work. Regards - JB -
I have found in my experience that it's straight forward for the retailer to forward the action on to the manufacturer. In all honesty I don't think it will get to court, every time I've had a go at Ford they've paid at least 95% of the claim. Regards - JB

Amazing that absolutely no-one has had a clutch fail at less than 60K  Remeber it doesn't matter what the Ford warranty states, the LAW states that goods "must be of merchantable quality" i.e. not faulty. Clearly your clutch did not meet the criteria and you therefore have a good case. If you need help on the small claims court procedure, let me know. I'm not a lawyer but I do use the small claims court regularly and so far I haven't lost a case  Regards - JB

I do think there's a 'slight' case for Ford to answer  Keep em coming guys. Regards - JB

Looking good so far :D

Yep....... Ring them back, ask for their address and to whom a court summons should be addressed. Then go to the small claims court. Your case will hinge on the perceived 'normal' life of a clutch. Ask around on here for instance and if for example 60,000 was the average, that would suggest it must have been faulty from day 1 and thus Ford should pay. Simple and effective, just go for it. They will back down and offer part or full payment in my experience. I've just had 4 new alloys after 30 months wear due to the laquer failing. I got all the normal - 'Its bodywork therefore not covered' crap. The above sort of response did the trick. Good luck - JB

NOT SO A lot of incorrect information has been given out here (must have worked for a Ford dealer at some time :D ) The panel flashes with any error NOT just low gas. It is quite likely to be low gas. It's also not true that you have to find the leak, automotive aircon usually loses the gas via the compressor shaft seals. You can reduce this by running the compressor regularly, winter and summer. Panels that flash and then don't can be caused by low pressure, when the ambient temp rises the pressure increases and the flashing stops. As far as I know the aircon does not have to be reset following re-gassing The Auto / Econ modes Auto, will handle all of the fan speeds and air distribution, it also on later models controls the heated screen. Eco will just disable the compressor. IT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY START UP THE COMPRESSOR AGAIN Regards - JB

Did somebody just leave? Who cares? so long as mumof4's still here it's all just fine. Regards - JB

When your aux heater fails you will know, I did nearly 100 miles on the motorway with -4 outside. Everytime I turned the heater on the temp guage fell to cold, it was horrendous. The TDi's are so efficient they produce very little waste heat. Regards - JB
-
No thats not the case, if the engine can't maintain full temp the aux heater will continue to run on a lower power setting. If you drive gently and it's cold outside it's very likely to be running. Regards - JB

This is really getting boring now. For heavens sake can some administrator / moderator delete this thread and threaten delboyt / vr6 that they have to either kiss and make up or get a divorce. Regards - JB P.S. You both get -1 vote from me, grow up.

Check for water in the fuel (drain the filter), also check for air leaks into the fuel line. Regards - JB -
On the other Ford models this feature can be enabled / disabled with the equivalent of vag-com, it's a country specific item (some countries don't allow flashing of indicators etc). I don't know if thats the case with Gals though. Regards - John

If you want a real fun course to do, Grimsby Institue in the media section do a games design course all the way up to a degree. My son did a taster day there and it was really enjoyable, he's gone there to do a media degree and has settled in really well, they have top marks from Ofsted and have COVE status. Regards - John
