  1. If you want Auto, you don't have a choice it's 115 only. Having said that I haven't had any complaints at all about mine. Going manual you can have any, all the way up to the 150. It has been said a few times that the 115 is smoother than the others but I can't comment on that. Regards - JB
  2. I'm pretty sure that someone has added the gear for nearside to open electrically as well. My question is why on earth would you want to open one yet alone both  Regards - JB
  3. Hi, I have a clarion unit mounted in the centre dash top storage box, it works well, easy to fold away and no evidence of Sat Nav fitted. The disk unit is under the passenger seat, there's a carpeted recess, mines installed with velcro straps and it's been trouble free in there. Regards - JB
  4. I used to be a member of the Scorpio group. We had a few get togethers and specialists came along, for example an aircon specialist was there doing repairs, regassing etc, people were there with ODBII equipment (similar to Vag-Com). it really was good to compare notes etc. We used several venues, the first was in Brighton (too far for me), the second was billing aquadrome. There's plenty of locations, Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire would be my suggestion, acres of wooded parkland, loads to do cycle hire etc but we could reserve our own little area, BBQ etc. Regards - JB
  5. Remember the Volco adverts years ago, they had dummies driving their cars protraying that Volvos were the choice of dummies  Good luck mate, I'm sure you'll be impressed. Regards - JB
  6. Hmmmm, what can I say, it seems he spends a lot of time talking about himself. Many posts are offensive and therefore if he was moderator he would have to chuck himself off, RESULT!
  7. The engine wouldn't tickover if the fuel pump relay was u/s. I would think it's time for a specialist with code reader or fellow member with vag com to get the clu's for you. It's entirely possible that sensor(s) were damaged when the wires shorted but at the minute you have no way of knowing. Regards - JB
  8. I've had no problems with any GPS system, including TOMTOM through my heated screen. Regards - JB
  9. Emmisions is a pretty broad description so more detail is definately required. It's unlikely that the airfilter would cause the problem, if it was so bad that it affected readings at the relatively low rpm and no load that the test uses it would be undriveable on the road. If it's that close, take the air filter out and retest. Pretty much the same with the oil, if a significant amount of contaminated oil was killing the readings you would have killed the CAT by now so that too would need replacing. The air pump is used to bring the cat up to temp quick but isn't used under normal running so again, I wouldn't think it was that either. Lets have the details and then we can go from there. Regards - JB P.S. The garage thats linking ABS to engine emmissions should be given a very wide berth, in fact I wouldn't pay their bill, thats gross incompetence.
  10. I can understand your frustration but may I respectfully suggest that when you want to accuse someone of being a con artist you add 'In my opinion' in front of it. I spend a lot of times in model flying circle forums and one forum got very close to being sued for hosting text that was deformation of character. I don't know who owns this board or even if they look in, if a summons dropped through their letterbox I would think they'd be pretty hacked off. Regards - John
  11. Don't short change yourself, it's more likely to be a 2.3 unless there's a lot of carbon build up  Can't help you with the oil though  Regards - JB
  12. Thats right, the sidelight will backfeed from the brake lights, trust me on this one. Regards - John
  13. Change the brakelight bulbs. One of them has failed and the filament for the brake light part is touching the side light part OR there's a bad earth on one of the rearlight clusters. Regards - John
  14. I think you'll find the clue is in the user information, 2.3!
  15. Having spent a fair bit of time in the small claims court (as the claimant I must add), I don't feel you have a leg to stand on with this one. If I were defending myself against you I would simply state my clear terms and conditions and that the unit was working when despatched, how do I know you havent damaged it / installed it incorrectly? I know it's annoying and I feel you've backed a loser here but cut your losses, sell the unit on ebay again as not working correctly and at least then you will minimise your losses. Regards - JB
  16. We probably will, I know what the dummies show but I'd take my chance in a Gal 'v' Zafira any day of the week.
  17. Which ones? I've never heard of that on a vehicle. The aux heater on the Gal kicks out 3Kw which is only just enough, to get the same from an electrical system you would be taking 250 amps, that vehicle must have an alternator the size of a power station.
  18. I couldn't have put it better myself. The Gals fuel consumption is so frugal I can't see any benefit going to something smaller, especially a 307. Regards - JB
  19. Don't bother, theyre a complete and utter waste of time and money on a Galaxy. I used to have a MKII Espace and the swivel seats were superb for picnic's etc. The Gal doesn't compare, no room when the seats are turned round, awkward to swivel the drivers seat. Save yer money. Regards - JB
  20. And obviously you have a good internet connection from cloud 9
  21. Some people of very weird ideas, my neighbour takes his thermostat out for wintertime and replaces it for summer! No amount of explanation and reasoning will convince him it's a daft thing to do! Regards - JB
  22. Consider: 1) When the engine is below running temp the thermostat will be closed 2) If the thermostat is closed there's no waterflow through the radiator. 3) If there's no water flow through the radiator there's no heat in it either So the short answer is don't bother! Regards - JB
  23. I don't see why it would need to be reset, it's not like a MAF or other sensor. A switch is either closed (short circuit) or open (broken wire) there are no in between conditions that the ECU would see as out of range. Do you have direct experience where VAG-COM has been needed to reset this? it's the first I've heard of it. Regards - John
  24. Have a read at this months Car Mechanics mag, covers the 405 and parts prices will make your hair curl. NO THANK YOU Regards - JB
