  1. Have a look on the jack, mine is stored clipped to it which does seem to be a logical place to keep it. Regards - JB
  2. Nice one Mof4, well done, take it easy and be safe. Regards - JB
  3. Thats normal operation, if you select airflow / fan speeds etc you have removed it from auto operation. On mine if it's really cold it switches on the heated screen anyway and airflow is directed to the screen in auto mode. Regards - JB
  4. Good luck Mof4, not that you'll need it ! Regards - JohnB
  5. But with a towbar you should worry little about sensors, wait until you hear the sound of the other vehicles crumple zone as you revers or your gal stops ;)
  6. I think I'd have got more than a little physical if they'd trashed my car like that. What a complete and utter bloody mess. Thanks for highlighting DIXONS skills to us all, let it be a warning ! Regards - JB
  7. I agree that going off to another forum would not be the best route to take BUT if people continue to get personal and no moderator steps in to halt the process we're going to lose some of the good ones. In the past we've had FredT who really knew his stuff disappear, Seatkid hasn't been round for a while and now VR6 is getting a bit hacked off. A moderator on here would help these situations by stopping the rot. I personally feel if there isn't going to be a moderator then I will start a Galaxy forum myself. Not sure who owns / operates this system, please appoint someone as a moderator before some of the current members kill it completely. Regards - JB
  8. It's really time (unfortunately) this forum had a moderator or some of us go off to a new forum that does have a moderator, then we could sort out the morons and leave them to their own playpen. Regards - JB
  9. ;) well kiss my ring has previously stated ;) wat a big baby, whose thrown the teddy out now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P :D :D :D :P :D :D VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR 66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666 YOU ARE THE WEAKIST LINK............................GOOD BYE/OR THEN AGAIN SOD OFF  ;) ;) :D :) :) :) I feel this is getting way out of hand and could ultimately end up with the demise of this forum. Some relatively new members should at least have the decency to get to know members of the forum before they start attcking them. VR6 does have his moments and he may not be the most diplomatic member, he is however entertaining and in the main knows his stuff. Piss him off and we lose a knowledgeable and usually helpfull member so then what have you acheived? Just my $0.02, by the way VR6 is always wrong when it comes to diesels ;) Regards - JB
  10. Yes it does....... You'll pay a lot more getting repairs done by VW :) You would sooner have the front of your car hacked off though..... But that's NOT Ford thats Dixons. Fords instruction seems sensible VW's practice expensive.
  11. Slap wrists for smoking, don't shorten your life you plonker, we need you! The 55 Gal was probably a V6 trying to acheive 20+ mpg :) Regards - JB
  12. Yes it does....... You'll pay a lot more getting repairs done by VW :)
  13. WRONG The compressor is not used for heating at all. Air conditioning systems in offices etc can be used in this way by reversing the gas flow and theyre very efficient, typically up to 500% efficient i.e. 1Kw of electrical energy gives you 5Kw of heat. Automotive systems don't work this way though, there's usually a plentiful supply of waste heat. I do agree with you re fuel consumption it's negligible, especially in wintertime and the benefits of leaving it enabled are huge. Regards - John
  14. Often a squirt of oil in the rear bearing (usually a brass bush) will solve the problem. Regards - JB
  15. I don't think you'll find slip rings involved with airbags, what you're looking for is a clock spring type assembly where cables are wrapped around the steering column like a clock spring. Regards - JB
  16. Errr.... Yes it is and you defeat yours too! The compressor is very useful in winter time and controls the humidity in the cabin too. Windows will demist quicker if it's left on auto and strangely, the compressor will last longer. Regards - JB
  17. Shouldn't you now be mum of 5 then?
  18. if you go for a short drive - a couple of miles or so, get out, switch off, you should hear the turbine running nicely and ramping down over a 2 to 3 minute period. It really impresses the baseball hat clad yob's with their Corsa's. Regards - JB
  19. I would agree that it's water ingress and not a leaking battery. How the water got there is another situation entirely. I would suggest you contact Ford customer relations, explain you have purchased your ne Gal and that up to now you have been most impressed. However you are now concerned that this problem has occured and the dealer response will not be attracting you back to Ford next year when you are going to replace this vehicle. Furthermore you feel that the goods were not fit for the purpose for which they were sold, keys should be able to stand a little water, you however have not exposed them to it. See how you do, I got my battery replaced way outside warranty because it failed at 20 months old, you do have to be pretty firm though and stand your ground, you're right, they're wrong. Regards - JB
  20. RON, do you hear a jet turbine type sound near the rear n/s wheelarch (outside) ? If not the Aux heater isn't working. Mine has just been sorted, when it was working less than 2 miles the car was almost at 90 deg without it 20 miles plus. You really need this working, if you have a warranty keep on at them until it's done, it makes a massive difference. Regards - John
  21. Perhaps someone didn't take kindly to his 'slightly' sarcastic comments? He'll be back.
  22. Just had a phone call to say my cars ready, they've taken a new heater off a brand new car and it's working fine. Told them I can't pick it up, I'm working in London for the next 10 days #8o) He started to go on about mileage and they needed the car back, I just reminded them if they'd fixed it yesterday I'd have been here in my car not theirs. I asked if they'd done the valeting to be told they hadn't intended to do any, again I mentioned all of the oil film from the smoke and he took the hing, full valet coming up and they've even offerred me free service vouchers for the next 2 services, that should be good, the cambelt comes up on the second one :D Now should I drive back mid week next week or stay down here ????? Regards - JB
  23. When I turned round to look towards the door I couldn't beleive how much smoke I'd put into the showroom, I nearly died, then i thought b*ll*cks to em, they told me it's OK so it must be OK B) Regards - JB
