Nice one, the job will be done by lunchtime then? Regards - JB -
Wrong clue, mines AUTO and thus no clutch :o I did try it last night, Rev to 2000, brakes on drops to tickover. If you then take your foot off the accelerator and then press it down again it will rev quite happily with the brakes on. Not quite sure what use it would be other than you could get home if the brake light switch stuck on. Regards - JB

lol, just read this.... Great minds think alike does that mean I'm now reaching your standard MM ? Regards - JB -
sounds like yet another bunch of hapless mechanics. There are no sensors fitted in the "airbox", the MAF sensor is fitted between the airbox and the turbo in the pipework - always has been. Come on Seatkid, pay attention it's a V6 and doesn't need a Turbo, it can waste enough fuel all by itself :o

Usual one for crank pulley nuts is get a socket on it, wedge the tommy bar near a chassis member and flick the starter. My method is to get a long tube (3 to 4 ft), get a fair bit of pressure on it and then hit down near the end of it with a hammer. Usually a couple of good hits will loosen the nut. Regards - JB -
It doesn't on mine

Glad you've found the problem and hope it's not too expensive to fix, have you done it yet? Regards - JB -
Well it's nice to have you back even if you are just a tiny bit sensitive.....! By the way, I've got this funny jet like noise appear from the back of my TDi :( Regards - JB

Jeez you are Grumpy, you must be back home then making do with a weakling V6 compared to a V8 :( Regards - JB

Do you get more power each time you fit an extra one ? Whats the maximum number you can fit  JB

Surely it wouldn't control the fuel pump, engine management yes but fuel pump? If it had control over the fuel pump the engine wouldn't be able to idle if you kept your foot on the brake? Are you back in the motherland now? jetlagged maybe? Regards - JB

still getting plenty of smoke out of the exhaust but I did drop a nut down the exhaust pipe when I changed the manifold gasket a few weeks ago  If the nut you dropped has passed through the Turbo it is a real possibility that the compressor has been severley damaged buy the nut and debri is likely to have either entered the engine through the inlet valves or indeed may have caused one or more to be jammed in an open condition hence you would get unburnt clouds of diesel smoke from the exhaust. My suggestion would be to get a compression gauge, remove the injectors and check the compression, on the early 1.9 TDi the injectors are conveniently at the front of the block. Indeed you could use the glowplug holes if the injectors are siezed (normal). Clearly cranking is not a problem but the valve seats may already be damaged and reduced compression and leakage would be occuring. It is possible for the engine to run with assistance as the speed of compression may overcome the leak once the engine is firing, have this on a Gal with a leaking injector seal at this very moment. If the nut was dropped down the exhaust how on earth would it get back to the inlet ?????? -
Fuel lines NOT heated as standard or even an option to my knowledge. You'll be fine unless it gets really cold. When the engine is running there's always a flow of warm diesel back to the tank so whilst travelling it's unlikely to be a problem. VW used to recommend up to 10% petrol in with diesel to lower it's gel point, it definately works, I had a VW Jetta Diesel in the 80's before 'Winter' diesel and had problems until I added the petrol. If I were in this position I think I would consider mounting the spare wheel on the roof in a nice enclosure. The other option that can get you out of a mess is the aerosol tyre sealants or the tyre treatment that stops them puncturing. Regards - JB

A man walks into a bar and orders a triple scotch. The barman gives it to him and he gulps in down in one swoop. "Hey buddy, you must be having it rough. Whats up with you?" says the bartender. "Well, I got home early from work last night and found my wife and my best friend in bed with each other!" "Thats terrible pal, the next drink is on the house." So the bartender gives him another tripple scotch and again he gulps it down. "If you don't mind me asking, what did you say to your wife?" "I told her I've had enough and I want a divorce!" "Good for you! You said the right thing. So what did you say to your best friend?" "Well, I walked up to him, looked him straight in the eyes and said......BAD DOG!"

A recipe for Making Love Ingredients: 4 Laughing eyes 4 Well-shaped legs 4 Loving arms 2 Firm milk containers 2 Nuts 1 Fur-lined mixing bowl 1 Firm banana Directions: 1. Look into laughing eyes. 2. Spread well-shaped legs with loving arms. 3. Squeeze and massage milk containers very gently. 4 Gently add firm banana to mixing bowl, working in and out until well creamed. For best results. Continue to knead milk containers. 5. As heat rises, plunge banana deep into mixing bowl and cover with nuts, leave to soak (preferably NOT overnight). 6. The cake is done when banana is soft. If banana does not soften, repeat 4 steps 3-5 or change mixing bowls. Notes: 1. If you are in an unfamiliar kitchen, wash utensils carefully before and after use. 2. Do not lick mixing bowl after use. 3. If cake rises, leave town.

Lots of people have and why risk shoving any debris from the caliper / pistons / seals back up into the ABS system ? Regards - JB

The sensors won't 'learn' anything, theres no intelligence in there artificial or otherwise. Regards - JB

Air Conditioning - Constant Leak - Any Ideas?
johnb80 replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Perhaps you need to give it a bit longer to let you down - another year maybe ? Should be gone by then and one of the new ones in it's place (if I like it that is). So it might even be yours if you're upgrading? Regards - JB -
The aux heater can't be turned off manually. It is quite normal for it to be running all the time if it's cold outside and your driving is relatively gentle, the engine just does not produce enough heat to keep the Galaxy cabin warm. On my Gal it will start up when the temp is less than 11 deg and the water temp is less than 90, it stays on with normal driving i.e. 40 - 50 mph when the temp is 0 or below outside. Increasing the speeds to 70ish it will eventually go off but comes on again as soon as I slow down. Regards - John

So you did have faith in it then  I stand duly corrected, hows the new motor going ? Regards - JB

There are one or two horror stories around as there are with any car, I think it's fair to say the majority of diesel auto owners are happy and have not had the unfortunate experience mentioned above. I thinks if I remember correctly that GSMGUY chipped his Gal to produce loads more power...... maybe that too has some contibutory factor ? Regards - JB
