  1. How many of us have checked what chip is fitted to our secondhand Galaxy's when we bought them ??????? Caio - JB
  2. Are you serious ? Is there an ECU that really does monitor current ? I just find this incredibly hard to believe. If it does you would think that it would have several attempts to restart the wipers rather than just giving up at the first sign of trouble. Regards - JB
  3. I presume with Tomtom / PDA approach you don't have the gyro's and the speed signal of the built in one and therefore accuracy will be significantly reduced. The VDO MS5000 that I have on my van I could consistantly stop a metre away from my garage door with my eye's closed. I know this level of accuracy is not guaranteed nor really necessary BUT when I tried navigation software on a laptop alongside the VDO unit, the built in unit was miles (pun?) better. I feel a lot depends on what you want SatNav for, if it's just occasional use for the odd journey then the PDA approach would be ok, if it's for more serious, everyday use then go for a built in unit. Regards - JB
  4. Hi Guys (& Gals #8o)) Unfortuantely, again my new Galaxy is inexplicably delayed. Due to collect at 3:30 on Friday, dealer called at 2:00 to say don't bother, it's not ready. Now we're only 6 weeks late, not bad eh. This time apparently the SatNav people are holding the delivery up, they need another sensor for the speed on the Galaxy. All of the SatNavs i've fitted before have had no problem picking up the pulses from the electronic speedo. Clarion and Galaxies don't seem to get on. I will post the pictures when it finally arrives, if it's not ready in the next week I'm going to cancel this order. Caio - JB
  5. Hi, If it's a new(ish) Galaxy it will lock itself IF you have unlocked it AND not opened any doors or tailgate within a minute or so (not certain of the time). You need not worry about putting the keys inside, once the door has been opened the system won't lock without the door locks / keyfob being operated. Lots of new cars have this security feature including my new Smart car. Regards - JB
  6. The Clarion unit does in fact have TMC though I'm told that it doesnt work round here (Lincolnshire). The Galaxy factory fit units are in fact the older Bosch units. Should have my Galaxy tonight so piccys to follow. I've never put piccys on this forum, do I just post a URL of the pictures or is there somewhere to upload them to ? Regards - JB
  7. My dealer isn't in the slightest bit bothered about company users nor are Ford. I ordered a Galaxy at the beginning of September and at the time there was a special promotion for company car buyers - order before the end of September and take delivery before the end of October and get
  8. Hi, I'm just going through a Sat Nav saga at the moment. I ordered my Galaxy at the beginning of September, at the time there was a promotion on for business users
  9. Can the timer be fitted afterwards ? I should be getting my new Galaxy next week and I have a loan one at the moment that takes for ever to get warm on these cold mornings. Regards - JB
  10. Perhaps it was a foreign battery ???? Not certain on the Galaxy but on other Ford models if you hold the trip reset in (10 secs ?) it changes over between metric and imperial. Caio - JB
  11. Hi Carl, Thanks for the reply, my dealer said it was VERY urgent and a MAJOR safety problem and therefore would not release the vehicle. I thought they were messing me about and that maybe they'd damaged the car in some way and needed to make excuses for the late delivery, seems now that I'm wrong. I actually cancelled my order with them due to none delivery etc, within 2 hours a Galaxy arrived on my doorstep to use until they could deliver mine which was already registered, taxed etc. I have said I want a full copy of the recall work schedule so that I can inspect closely the work carried out, IF and only IF I'm 100% happy with the work will I then accept this vehicle. TTFN - JB
  12. Hi, I ordered a new Galaxy about 4 weeks ago, 115 TDi/Auto/SatNav/Xenons. It was due for delivery last Friday (10/10/03), my dealer called and told me that they could not release the vehicle because Ford had recalled the Galaxys and furthermore the parts required were on back order with no set date for delivery. I telephoned Ford Customer Services and they knew nothing about any recall. Have any of you heard of any recall or indeed do you have any comments to make about exactly whats going on here ? I have told the dealer that I will not accept the car until they have shown me the recall documentation and I have closely inspected the work detailed in the documents. Regards - JB
  13. Hi, If it's the hot wire type of MAF a lot of success has been acheived on Ford Scorpio's by cleaning the hot wire with Carb Cleanes. See www.fordscorpio.co.uk for more details. Hope it helps, Regards - John
