Hey Dave thats dead useful ......havent done one on the Galaxy yet but on every other car I've owned. Is there an oil breather Maz will have to disconnect?

Would this be any good Ageless? Courtesy of Gooner http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=9789

If it is the rocker cover gasket Maz its a doddle and the majority of oil leaks on any engine are usually from this. Even the tester stated it was from there and they dont cost an arm and a leg if you shop around. Just dont go for the real cheapies because they're rubbish.

That clip wants replacing dave.... :o

No probloads ...... yes if you remove the main Tdi badged plastic cover its the big black metal square one underneath with the oil filler hole. The bolts holding it to the head will be around the outside as opposed to the two in the middle of the one in the piccie above.

I would agree with Nik on this one ....... the other thing to check is the radiator as it might be partially blocked. The way to check this is to feel the back of the radiator when the engine is cold and then starting it. As the engine warms up you are feeling for hold and cold spots. IIRC, as I havent done this for over 20 years, a cold spot indicates a blockage. It should feel slightly hotter at the bottom than the top but even throughout its width. BEWARE though ..... DO NOT FEEL IT WHEN THE ENGINE IS UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE ..... it will burn you.

Must have been the fluttering of the eyelashes or the coats of creosote Maz. ;) Thats good news anyway. ;)

Rear Suspension Springs
Smilge replied to teresa's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I would T ....... if anything goes on the same axle I would change as a pair, espiecally suspension parts. -
Bleeno, this thing about the wipers going intermittent when you stop is it on all mk2s or just on the later models?as mine doesn't seem to do this ;) Well mines the same age as yours m8 ..... I assume that all Mk 2's do it ...... arrrrrrr ..... its a VAG COM setting isnt it I think?
-
Just make sure you knock a few nails in them loose panels Maz and you give the tester the door padlock combination to get in; he'll need to move the mower and tools out of the way. ;) Good Luck anyway
-
mmmmm ... I seem to remember someone saying that theirs didnt a little while ago jk? "Mine doesn't but when mine is fixed yours will stop working ! " :(
-
Im glad you're pleased with it m8 .....yea the cruise control ...be careful if you use it to stick to the speed limits cos if you cruise down a steepish hill doing 30 it doesnt stay at 30 and you end up with 3 points like me mate. :D Oh and the wipers .... if you select them to continuous wipe, when you stop they go onto intermittent until you pull away ...dork here thought there was a problem.... :) Anything else you need to know give us a shout mate.
