Hope you sort it soon mate ....... a good quick check ..... if they are binding you can't touch the hubs as I found out ... ruined that holiday as I left the skin off the back of my hand on those lovely chrome hub caps!

Sometimes you'll find the caravan brakes will bind particularly after the first "push" espiecally when the piston hasn't been greased for a while. I clean and grease it every year for the same reason.

With all that neat diesel and water going into the exhaust, I reckon the Cats had it now and the engine isn't breating correctly ..... mmmm expensive on them!

Other than this the engine runs, accelerates and ticks over (approx 9,500 rpm) fine Jeez ...... I'm surprised its running at all msc!!! ;) I'm sure you mean 950 RPM ...... right back to the problem. From my own experience from other cars this sounds like part of the "anti run on" system (someone may be able to confirm this) or from recent experience either the turbo Boost control solenoid which controls the VNT mechanism to adjust the pitch on the turbo vanes. Its common for the VNT mechanism to stick and there are plenty of posts on here to give you some pointers. Hope this helps Chris

Good man! ...... Im having problems with AA Warranty on my sons car at the moment due to a gearbox jumping out of second. They've just told me its down to fair wear and tear and they won't be approving the work! 57K miles ........ B********S!!! My fingers are still frozen from my aircon though ...lol

Sorry to hear that JK ...... I thought you had sorted that. Strewth, looking at your list I wouldn't know where to start. Is it just when your towing matey? If so ...... its not the brakes on the caravan binding is it? Have you tried removing the thermostat completely and see if that makes any difference?

What happens to the boiling point of water if you pressurise it? ...... what does the PRESSURE CAP on the expansion tank do if the water boils? ..... cmon woman ...you've done the course!

Tend to agree with Seatkid ...... sounds like the water is boiling due to an air leak somewhere ... mmmmmm gap between the head and the block and why were you losing oil in the first place? Even if the engine overheats you shouldnt lose oil. So it sounds to me as though the head gasket has gone again and more than likely it was damaged when the head was put back on or the head is warped.

Welcome from me too ............ glad to hear the kids love the car ..... sounds like the temp sensor is U/S on yours, and reading "nowt", looks like an open circuit somewhere and if you follow Insider's instructions, I'm sure you'll sort the problem out. Hi Boozy ....... good post Groundbased. I personally wouldn't even consider putting a young child in the front. This is the first time I've heard that the airbag can be de-activated via the ECU. Perhaps someone with VAG-COM can confirm this? If the garage has said it has been de-activated I would take it back and get them to show you the evidence, anyway what if an adult is sat in the seat? I know the Mk3 Mondeos passenger airbag can be de-activated by plugging the seatbelt in with no-one sat on the seat, but any weight on the seat re-activates it. I know this isn't the case for Galaxys.
