Need asap the manual type window lock or latch for the drivers side rear quater, this is the window in the boot that only opens a few inches or so the lock is actually held on the glass by a screw. Don't think it actually matters which side to be honest poss both the same. My 9 stone dog thought he could fit through it and now it opens all the way lol.... sorry it's a mk2 gal

Windows Opening When Doors Shut!
mikej replied to supermarriott's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
As the all seeing and all knowing Mirez has said, my money is on the wiring being damaged. Had the very same thing on my own 2001 and it turned out to be the wiring in the front drivers door between A pillar and door, very common and when knackered creates all sorts of mad faults with windows and locks doing their own thing etc... best of luck mike.. -

Temperature Gauge
mikej replied to icecoolpsycho's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I think i would be tempted to check the connection at the actual sensor first, not quite sure where it is on yours but this happened on a other car of mine when the wire came off and shorted to the block, reconnecting it sorted problem. Just a thought but maybe worth a look. :46: -
Water In Footwell
mikej replied to victor meldrew's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
lay a load of old new papers under carpet and change them once wet through, carpet will dry in no time. Well mine did anyhow :) -
I do hope you all bought the genuine Ford jobbies because if you didn't you'll be doing them again very shortly lol.. :D i put three pairs of aftermarket ones on in twelve months and then had to bite the bullet and go to Fords, all is now well.
-
yep tried one before , forget it and get the car vac'd out and refilled properly even by quickfit so you have proof of how much is in the system, the gauges on these cans are crap.

It is a peice of cake, tiny push in jobby, a few pence at a local motor factors

Hi mate ,thanks for the reply i am actually looking for a few bits in silver as mine is starting to look very tired, for the right price i would be looking for a few doors, rear bumper and maybe bonnet but only in silver due to the age of mine it's not worth spending too much on it at the moment. I have a sticky o/s/f brake caliper which could be just the slider needs cleaning/greased but if a caliper comes in cheap enough i may just change it. Mine is nothing more than a workhorse which gets a hammering it's also LPG'd so it's too cheap to chuck, anyhow feel free to PM me if you get any bits in always looking for spares to prolong it's life (2.3 petrol) Cheers Mike.... :)

This Zetec you have aquired what colour is it, is it a petrol, diesel etc, what exactly have you left please cheers mike. :)

How To Remove The Top Passenger Storage Box..
mikej replied to bofus's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Very strange i have a MK2 Galaxy and it has torx screws inside, didn't think the Alhambra was any different obviously i am wrong ? -
Had this issue when i first bought the galaxy, a garage over filled it assuming it was dual aircon not single ( label is on the front panel next to the bonnet catch, i have now totally blanked the larger figure to save any future confusion ) the result was heavy loading on the engine when engaging the compressor and the intermittant sound of gas escaping through what sounded like a relief valve ? aircon did not work either when overfilled. The end came the very next day when the compressor seized resulting in a snapped belt and one hell of a screech . I have this morning just topped up my gas ( new compressor and condensor fitted last year) with a can and overfilled it again by mistake with the same symtoms heavy loading and gas escaping, had it corrected and it's now working a treat FOR NOW :o mine only lasts approx 5 months or the summer before needing a topup so i guess i have a leak elsewhere, i would say that the figures you quoted for the amount of gas you had left are bloody good after all this time and it simply needed topping up to the correct level, if i were you i wouldn't use yours untill the gas amount has been corrected. If it was quick fit that did it just take it back and tell them they shouldn't charge you. One last thing even when mine is working correctly i can still feel the compressor when it kicks in and out as it puts so much load on the car. just my ten bobs worth mike.

You mention 16v in your first post so i guess you have the Ford 2.3 petrol like myself, this has a timing chain Not belt! :D
-
Hi Mick sorry for butting in mate but i would guess you have the 2.3 petrol if so you should have the five speed box mate although as already mentioned how could you not tell :) Anyhow is yours a manual or auto and if you have just bought a new downpipe i persume you bought the two gaskets for it, one for the manifold end ( round steel jobby )and the one prior to the cat? Just changed mine and what an absolute pig to get the bolts out at the cat end, had to use a torch and loads of heat. Remember to change the rubber hangers whileyour there, if like mine they were the original jobs ! I do have a original Ford steel gasket for the manifold here if your interested. mike...

Dashboard Dials On A Mk11 Removal
mikej replied to Justice's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
:) What do you want to do ????? reset the engine management light thats getting on your nerves or take your clocks out just for the sake of it. Just reset it, NOTwith vagcom because it's a ford engine not a vdub! The easiest way to take your clocks out is not to remove the wheel as there is no need , it's been covered on here many times try searching for it. :) -
Dashboard Dials On A Mk11 Removal
mikej replied to Justice's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Use the OBDII to reset the engine light or if your ever over the seven bridge i will do it for you and tell you why it came on in the first place ! Vagcom for your airbag light.... -
No, no need to remove the door card at all they will simply pull off, there is an insert fitted exactly were you hand grips the handle, pop that out first and then just pull up the whole lot, swap switches over and job done. Less than a minute if you have done it before. From looking at your first photo it's the long rubber strip inside the handle cup to the right of the switches.
-
If it's any help, in your first pic the interior door handles that hold your window switches can be bought for peanuts from the main dealer, i am sure i changed both driver and passenger sides for less than

2001 2.3 Idling At 2-3000 Rpm
mikej replied to Paul walker's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi mate i have the same car and if i unplug my MAF the engine will run like a bag of nails not better, my money is on the idle control valve as mentioned, very simple to remove and a 10 min job to clean out with carb cleaner etc. just my pennies worth best of luck mike. :16: -
Quote : you still need to remove the pully to allow the non a/c belt to fit as i had to untill i fixed it. Are you sure this the case for the petrol engine ? ;)
-
If your aircon compressor pully is u/s and you don't have the time or money to repair it just yet, pretty sure you can fit a belt from a galaxy without the aircon to get you going for now! ;)

Drivers Door Switches
mikej replied to sparky1000's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Had the exact same issue on my 2001, the cause was a split wire in drivers A pillar. I know you have checked it but it may be worth rechecking ?
