  1. Sump withiout pan, has chain and tensioners, i thought the sump was the pan with the drain bolt in the base and the chain was fitted inside the block, think i need to have a closer look ? i need the pan myself as the drain bolt has just stripped
  2. Now sorted although could well be up for sale due to change of plans :D
  3. Ok in very simple terms look at the top of your engine for the yellow filler cap, the valve should be roughly 3" to the back of it and maybe 4" to the right. It's alloy fixed with two bolts and has a paper gasket under it so be careful also has a plug on the end.Very common issue they simply sludge up inside, get yourself a can of carb cleaner and blast the crap out whilst moving the valve back and forth with your finger, refit and jobs done. Also cheap enough on Ebay to buy should you choose to do so. The issue with the lights has to be the wiring in the tailgate boot ( upper top right corner on mine ) pull the boot and have a look at the state of the wires inside you will be suprised just how many are damaged, well if it's any thing like mine you will :) Best of luck mate...
  4. As above, sounds very much like the heater matrix is shot, a simple way to prove it would be to join the two rubber pipes entering through the bulk head to the matrix (water in and water out)with a bit of old copper pipe etc this would then effectively bypass it although you would not have any heating and you may still have some water left in the matrix leaking on to your floor,i have found that old new papers are great at soaking this up,just lay them on the floor under the carpet and change them when then become soaked works great. at least you will know for sure if this is the issue before spending your hard earned :)
  5. Looking for a CHEAP set of original only alloys for the mk2. Tyres not important but always welcome, anyone got a set lying around ??? ;)
  6. Switch no lomger required thanks all sorted ! :42:
  7. Sorry can't help you with your intercooler as i don't have a diesel but don't see why a couple of cheap ramps or even axle stands wouldn't do it and they don't call them FRAUDS for nothing :42:
  8. Also on the lookout for a front drivers side brake caliper if you have one hanging about :42:
  9. NOooooooooooo not now lol, i've been looking for one all week and nothing and today have just bid and won one on the bay for
  10. Looking for the electric door mirror switch for the mk2 galaxy, this is the one thats fitted to the door panel and has L & R and a small round knob for selecting the desired mirror. anyone ?
  11. From my own experience if you car is running ok apart from when idleing then you may want to remove and clean out the idle control valve with carb cleaner as this is prone to clogging up with muck and sticking. There are only two bolts to remove it. This will cause irratic idle and stalling when blocked up so it's a quick and easy check!
  12. I used a liitle light oil when checking for bubbles on mine (which just happened to be knackered) you should see a little crust around the circlip which is inside the tube top, this crust is also a good indicator that's it's been leaking at some stage. If you do have to replace the drier beware some will sell the drier and condensor seperate but there are those that sell a condensor with the drier already fitted for little difference in price. I purchased one a few years back and it was less thabn a
  13. Yes it is
  14. Don't suppose you have a light board to try? I have fitted a bog standard factor sourced 12N to my own (2001 model) a socket with the wires attached to be spliced into existing loom, it came with the audio alarm for the indicators and that's it from what i can remember. I have been using it for the last few years without issue untill last week well most of the wires came loose or snapped hence my comments earlier. Is yours any different than this as seatkid has already mentioned there are dedicated kits and i am not really sure which you have? If yours is the same as mine it will not be difficult to sort out, you could simply try for the voltage at the socket while someone is operating the various lights etc. I think it's a case of check your wiring on the black one first, make sure you have a good earth etc especially if you are not getting anything. I hope you had better luck with the mounting bolts lol  sorry couldn't resist, how soon do you need it up and running?
  15. Can't see anything mate ?? But it's basically a black plastic cap that is fitted on top of the drier on the left hand side of your reciever rad, you can just pop it off with your fingers. If memory serves me right it has a diameter of roughly a 2 pence peice
  16. If you don't mind me asking what are you towing as most caravans today have the later single socket not two, what happens if you just plug into the black socket, do you get any lights, indicators at all, is the ignition and lights on, black socket wired as the top 12N diagram, sorry got to ask?
  17. Dead easy for a man of your talent, quick tip for you either crimp or solder the ends of the wires before you srcew them into the relevent terminals it will save you alot of headache later trust me been there and done it, last week actually
  18. Pretty sure you can pick up a condensor inc drier already fitted for approx
  19. I Have no idea why but i was lucky enough to have all the fuse links included with my new fuse box, maybe luck don't know ? :)

  21. Hello again does anyone know if this :01596 Motor for outside/recirculated air flap(V154) is accessible from below the dash or has the whole dash got to come out, the up/down ,hot/cold flaps all work fine but this one keeps throwing up a fault causing aircon controller to flash, anyone on here every changed or repaired it? thanks in advance mike...
  22. Hi Matt and welcome to the forum mate, like many others on here i have changed the fusebox myself in the past, mine totally melted almost taking the car with it lol. Straight forward swap mate and as you mentioned change the large alternator cable or you will be doing it again, the only programming i had to do was the stereo so make sure you have the code. Just for info i have the same car and found vw alot cheaper than fords at the time for the box, it's a vw part anyway best of luck mike...
  23. Well just chucked the vagcom on the old girl and this is what keeps coming up, reset it a few times but reappears shortly after: 01596 Motor for outside/recirculated air flap(V154) 35-10 intermittant Any ideas, location?
  24. Hi chrispb123456 how is the pressure switch changeable without degassing, how does it monitor the pressure ? does it simply plugin then ?
  25. I know Norris he was a regular on tv in my younger days ;) . Yeh i also know all about the loss of PAS due to the water on the lower pulley, pretty sure i have posted about this myself after after taking a short cut over a roundabout a few years ago, i drove 200+ miles last sunday in all the rain and felt it going off and on again, my belt squeeled for 3 days after so bought myself a new one to fit and guess what it stopped before i had chance :) i'll change it anyway. Mirez i have a cheap Vagcom will that pick up the codes if there are any, only ever used it for my brakes and airbag ?
