Is that until the bell rings at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning? Congrats to Mr and Mrs B.  Andy. You're right - Nik's back to school in the morning (he he he). Congrats to the Bagpuss!

I might pop in later...

Seat Kid is right. I shouldn't have posted 'Araldite' because it makes it look like I'm recommending that as a repair. Personally, I would be 'phoning around OEM suppliers, like Garrett-Wright in Slough to buy a new one. Or if money is tight, 'phone around the breakers yards. But, of course, it's not up to me to tell you to repair or not to repair...

Araldite, at your local hardware store.

Please Suggest A Suitable Car

Then you'd be wrong! Take a look in your price range. Fabia is basically a VW Polo, and the market has woken up to this. -
Looks good BJ!

Please Suggest A Suitable Car

Skoda Fabia 1.2 in bright red. Low running costs and very cheap insurance. I kid you not!!! Currently seen as a *really cool car*. -

I nulled my vote. I will say that IMHO the forum is better since the moderators were appointed. As for the 'three word joke', that's what General Discussion and Nonsense is for, isn't it? Keeps the silly stuff out of the techy bits. Kind regards, -

Accelerator Response

What is your car? If it's a turbo diesel, this sounds like 'turbo lag'. It's quite normal. Edit - I've just read your profile, and I think you know about diesel engines. Sorry to patronise. -
You are still on Boston time, as your post put you at 09:06, but you thought it was 04:00. I'd get back to your doctor, as it's a bit rich to make you wait three weeks for replacement medication. Do you go Business Class? My company doesn't allow this, but we have recently been allowed to travel Premium Economy, which makes a big difference. I can sleep better in Premium. Plus, the cabin crew don't turn up the heat so much, trying to make the 'cheap seats' sleep and thus get an easy life.

Classic jet lag. :( Next time from Logan take an early evening flight, try to sleep on the flight, then stay awake all day when you get home.

It could also be a partly melted fuse box (the one by the battery). When ours melted, lots of strange and seemingly unconnected faults showed up on VAG-COM, various dash warning lights came on at random including the ABS warning. The VAG-COM faults all showed 'short to B+ intermittent' which is the alternator output point. The short was in the melted fuse box - there was arcing between the alternator connection and the main fuse box connection. memyselfandI - do you know where this fuse box is located? You need to remove the battery cover - the fuse box is in front of the battery and connected with a red lead to the +ve battery post. You can open the fuse box easily by squeezing the latches inwards and lift up the hinged cover. Have a look - it'll only take 5 mins. to disprove my theory... :(

I had a look at the new model the other day. There is no spare wheel and thy are not run-flat tyres - just a can of repair gunk. I wouldn't be happy either, as I am one of the few people I know who actually has had two punctures within a month (I know, I must be careless! ) and one of these damaged the sidewall, so this gunk wouldn't work anyway. Both punctures actaully required new tyres. As a family, we did like the fold flat seats but didn't like the cabin quality, the narrowness of the seat base, flimsy seat materials, the flimsy mat that forms the 'flat load bay' with all the seats down and the fact that you have to lift the head restraint to make the seat work for an adult. (The old Galaxy seats may be heavy but they are tough.) The new car seems a bit more 'built to a price' than the old Galaxy. I suspect that the new Galaxy will be a better/quieter ride than the old, but I didn't drive the new one. What I did drive was the S-Max (as we couldn't see the point of the Galaxy over the S-Max apart from the extra interior height, which we are not sure we need) with the 2.5 litre 5 cylinder. Wheeeeeeee! Lovely engine (not available in the Galaxy either). The S-Max is a quieter drive than our Mk2 Galaxy, which felt a little harsh after the S-Max (but then ours is four years old...).

Stinking Water Washer
El Dingo replied to norwichbluenose's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Wierd... I had this when we got our Galaxy about a year ago. I flushed out the system - not easy to get all the muck out - and replaced with screen wash concentrate plus water. My theory - *cough* - whatever the factory originally put in the screenwash bottle reacts with what Ford uses at service time. Do Alhambra or Sharan owners get this problem? -
Maybe the 05 galaxy was fitted with Xenon headlamps? If Mk1 was available with Xenons you could check at the breakers and do a swap, however, this might be more complicated than just changing the lamp units, as the Xenons in the Mk2 have an automatic levelling function.

You only get pulled into the train if you break down on the platform Ah, OK. They were stopped just after the loading barriers, so I guess that would count as the platform, and they were last onto the train loading to the left - we were then loaded to the right. No one own up???? :)

Hello to the family in the silver Galaxy that got towed onto the 16:40 from Calais this afternoon. Are you on this forum? I wonder what broke? Obviously not the aircon. The MAF wouldn't need a tow truck. Not drop links... Melted fuse box? Interesting, that broken down vehicles can get pulled into the tunnel trains, and, I presume, pulled out the other end for the AA/RAC/Green Flag/etc. to take over at the other end? Was it you Matt Jnr? Coming back from Spain? (Serves you right for being so rude about the Spanish! :( )
