  1. :D It's magic! :D (Hmm, yes, now that I think about it.... :D )
  2. BigJeeze reads the DT while watching the BBC on TUTV and DAB. Once a great friend of R2D2, they had an acronymonious disagreement over a TDi1.9 and a 2.8V6. (It was the MAF, NSF and OSR ABS with ESP.) C3PO gave BJ the old 1-2, and he went out like a light sabre. ODBC1 felt connected, but VAG-COM was US. Ah, well. SNAFU. TTFN.
  3. Wow, that's stunning! Much better than the cut and paste I was trying to do with Maz on MSN... I've gone off clutch for now... :D
  4. I'd check belt driven ancilliaries... water pump, aircon compressor, etc. Wierd one this...
  5. Yes, it does sound like a 'roll restrictor' issue. Try a search, Paul, and you'll find out quite a lot about this.
  6. Well now I'm stuffed. Maybe it's not the clutch! :D No power after the turbo lag... Hmmm. Maz, please put us out of our misery. Did you do the simple test we asked you to do? Then we can finally eliminate the clutch... (Post no. 1,354,839 about clutch - do a search!) :D
  7. David Hasselhof is really getting a bit pi**ed off at being driven round and round by the 3 inch tall Gooner. Those fog lights are annoying people and Daviid doesn't like it when they drive at Gooner on full beam to try to get him to turn them off. Also, the Galaxy is beginning to smell, as they are eating in there and sleeping together, and they haven't changed clothes or had a wash in over a week. Yuk!
  8. BJ suggested this on live chat, and I rather too quickly told him no. (No offence BJ!) I just couldn't recommend doing this, as it's a bit too brutal and (just a remote possibility) could be dangerous. Just get the car along a quiet road at 30mph in 3rd and 'put the pedal to the metal'. If the revs rise in proportion to the speed increase then the clutch is OK. If the engine races, it isn't....
  9. Hi Dave, I've had a look on ETKA but can't find this item. (I always thought one used VAG-COM or similar to check the temperature when refilling, but this doesn't mean that there isn't a temperature sensor...).
  10. Very sensible advice! What Bleeno added about the release bearing also makes good sense. So take it easy until you have a firm diagnosis! :D
  11. Well, is it the clutch? (I've had live chat sat there for ages, and you lot are on MSN! Well I'm on MSN too, so there!)
  12. Just don't go as far as Switzerland... (The Black Forest is very nice. I'd go there instead.)
  13. Sic Galaxy Gloria Mundi?
  14. Ouch! I missed your birthday - I was in Manchester... Hope you had a good one! (I'm third in the queue to donate then... )
  15. Does it go into gear OK? Does the clutch pedal 'feel' normal? Has the 'bite' position changed? Does the 'windmill' sound increase with engine revs or with road speed?
  16. Does it rev higher just when you press the accelerator? Does it happen more in higher gears? If these symptoms sound right, it sounds like the clutch is worn out. The 'flapping' sound is a strange one, and that fact that the symptoms happened suddenly, suggests a component failure. Maybe the pressure plate has failed?
  17. Anadin was in the news for making love to fifty women in a launderette and then running away. The headline was "Nut screws washers and bolts"...
  18. Yes, 8" sounds about right. I wouldn't describe it as a lure, though. Perhaps more of a frightener! ;) (I've seen the El Dingo lure on that US web site...)
  19. I've never known anyone in my area (Southern England) run anything other than summer tyres. From my limited experience in this matter, winter tyres wear more quickly and are much, much noisier than summer tyres.
  20. IIRC, with VAG-COM you can set: 1. Distance until the next service. 2. Distance until Inspection 1. 3. Time until Inspection 1. 4. Time until Inspection 2. These are set in 1,000 km units. So I suppose the dealer could have set anything he wants... Edit: Variable servicing - I don't know how that works... anyone?
  21. Why would I fill a washing machine with petrol????? ;)
  22. I totally agree with HPE on this. (Does this make me a power poster, as I have added nothing? No, I've just added my opinion...)
  23. If you can hear it all the way down the street, it's a diesel. This is where I got my parts... http://www.euronicscentrecamberley.co.uk/ Camberley, GU15 3SG Tel: 01276 692222
