I had one on a Pug where an engine mount had sheared. The engine was just sitting on it under gravity. It gave a sensation of slack in the driveline, and a thump when part of the engine hit the bulkhead! Exactly! (BTW, I edited my post - 'does' to 'doesn't' :( Hope it makes more sense now...)

You are not alone (for the second time in one thread! :D ) - I find this irritating too. :(

Oh well, as long a it didn't cost an arm and a leg...

I think I recognise Mof4! By the way, what happened to that thread with all the member's pictures on? Was it called 'Meeee!'? Did a search, can't find it... That's your arm and leg next to Mof4?

It doesn't have to be the roll restrictor. It could be another engine mount. With the bonnet open, and an assistant standing at the SIDE of the car, try putting in gear and try to pull away gently against the handbrake. Have the assistant watch to see if the engine moves!

Nik is right - if you HAVE to give out codes why not do it via PM?

2.0 Galaxy ?misfire?

Re: 2. That clunk, on full lock, is likely to be a worn out CV joint. Search the forums, and you'll find lots of information. Re: 3. Don't worry too much, unless the clatter is still there after the oil pressure has had time to build up. I think it's worn hydraulic tappets, however, even brand new VW engines sometimes do this. (I'm not saying that yours is a VW engine by the way... ;) ) -
I love Partition Magic... Don't like Norton AntiVirus/Internet Security. Now have a Netgear firewall router and McAfee - upgraded Java and straight in... :D I used to use something called Drivel Mage? It's now called Ghost, and I agree with your sentiments.

What Gooner is trying to tell us is that he opened his savings account at the Woolwich in 1886. So, apart from being only 3" tall, he is also 98 (degrees). (Possibly Farenheit, but who knows?). Not many people know this, but the name Gooner comes from Rajasthan, and means 'Gurner'. A bit like Jodhpur, Verandah, and other such words that were adopted into English. Gooner is well known on the Gurning scene, and has won awards. Like 'Best Banana Face 1902', 'Most likely to be hit by a custard pie 1915' and 'Gor blimey, that nearly gone and knocked my socks orf, and I ain't even been ta California 1933'.

Get well soon Mof4...

A Saab mechanic I know showed me a neat trick for changing the chain without massive disassembly - he basically split the old chain and connected it to the new one, then manually cranked the engine around, ensuring that the chain stayed partly wrapped around the cam drive sprocket. I wonder if this would work with the Ford engine? As the camshaft sprockets are side-by-side, might be hard to keep everything in synch... ;) Good advice for keeping the chain in good condition - change the oil regularly, especially if your car is lightly used in cold weather (the dreaded school run), or is used in very dusty conditions.

2.3 are chain cam engines.

Windscreen Replacement
El Dingo replied to pompadour's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
This is VERY good advice... RAC Autowindscreens managed to put a huge slash through the dashboard of my old Audi A4 during their fifth attempt to fit the screen properly. Their use of a non-OEM (in other words a cheap copy) windscreen didn't help, as they could never get the scuttle cover to actually touch the base of the screen. Finally they used a proper Audi screen and got a dash repairer in, but the dash was never the same again. -
