  1. Where is it???? It's only 9:13 - did you take it off early??? Whaaa!! Missed it AGAIN!!!!!
  2. HA HA HA HA :D
  3. Camera batteries on charge. I read that it's hard-standing, so no need for wellies?
  4. So, when you can't see where you are going in the rain, you stop and have a quick swig of vinegar to pass the time?
  5. Damn it - I've been off line most of the day and I miss all the juicy stuff!!!
  6. Well, let's just say it's Sunday and I'm *very* fashionable!
  7. Aren't you trustworthy T??? BTW, weather forcast for Sunday has improved significantly. Could even be sunny, and light winds. (P.S. Please don't count on me being there at 9am... I'm aiming for 'fashionably late'.)
  8. Go on Mof4 - 5001!!!!
  9. I drove one with the 2.5 - 5 cylinder petrol (which is not available AFAIK in the new Galaxy). Great engine, and the S-Max has enough room for me. I liked the ride and handling. Didn't like the rather small seats in the rear, the stupid flimsy cover for creating a flat load bay and the generally rather cheap interior build quality.
  10. :D :D Neil, is that real, or is that one of your 'amendments'?
  11. Then it might be an ABS fault. Seems to be fairly common on these cars. Do a search on ABS and you'll find quite a lot...
  12. ...all you need is axle stands, jack, wheel brace, security wheel-nut adaptor, 13mm socket and arm, 10mm spanner, piece of pipe, can to collect fluid in, a fresh can of DOT4, caliper wind-back tool, new brake pads, new 'nylock' prepared caliper bolts, a small quantity of copper grease... as T says, it's not too hard a job. ... or you could stop reading and keep enjoying! :)
  13. Your description of a grinding sound of metal sounds to me like no brake pad material. The VW floating caliper design is well known for locking up (especially on the offside rear for some reason). It could be that the inner pad is down to the metal, while the outer pad still looks OK.
  14. I'm with Madbaz on this one. My son recently asked me to set up port forwarding for MicroTorrent... :)
  15. I've had a number of VAG cars before the Galaxy.... Oops, (apart from the engine) looks like I still have...
  16. I don't think so - anyway, excess pressure would normally vent via the pressure cap on the header tank, unless there is a blockage in the system somewhere. Edit - Ah ha, thermostat housing, eh? Could be...
  17. My opinions... 1. ABS problem - well documented on this forum. 2. I think this is the auxilliary coolant pump; they can get very noisy when they are about to expire. Again, well documented. However, when mine failed, I noticed it because it went quiet (had stopped). Easy to find under the bonnet. Hope you enjoyed Gibraltar!
  18. Yes, that used to be the letter of the law. However, pick up a newspaper/magazine these days, and unless it's a 'quality' product, you'll be unlikely to find any information about the printer...
  19. I'd make a 'clutch' joke here... but no, I'm in a benevolent mood!
  20. what month was it registered el cos mine was a 2001 with 7 seats, but no roof reel... May 2001 registered. However, the relationship between registration date and build date may vary. (Terms and conditions may apply, subject to status.)
  21. This used to work a treat on my mother's old car. You know the story; car driven only around town, never got revved. She used to ask me to 'give it a tune up' when it got a bit clogged up, so I used to go down to the dual carriageway and hold it in a low gear at high speed for a mile or so. Worked every time. :10: Now she has a (VW based) Skoda with fuel injection - never has any problems... ^_^
  22. Good pics BJ. This is a surprising wear part IMHO. Maybe a material problem... or poor QT by the machine shop?
  23. Mine is a Y/2001 and has the roof mounted belt, but then ours is (and always has been) a seven seater.
  24. if you hadn't had told us we would have never known :P Golly!
  25. ..reminds me of that Penguin joke, as told by the monkeys... (If you've seen it you'll know what I'm on about)
