Newbie Here - Thinking Of Buying A 99t Ghia X Tdi Auto
El Dingo replied to a topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Yawn. I've seen a Mk 2 on a W plate. (But then I've also seen a Audi 200 on a J plate, which is impossible.) -
Could be compressor about to fail and loading up the belt... Does this smell also resemble burnt rubber? hi again, thanks to you all....my speedo is mainly the only problem on the dash, all else works fine, the smell is definately exhaust type smell..didnt know if it was the rear blower unit sucking in fumes but it really smells more at the front.. thanks again ade If it smells like unburnt fuel, you could have a pipe popped off your carbon canister... It's in the FAQ. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...304entry64304

You could always install VAG-COM on your home PC, then make a *really* long extension cable... :( It does work with serial versions, but not recommended for USB. I tried it - I made a 8m long serial extension cable, and VAG-COM works just fine. Not recommended if you want to use VAG-Scope on the road. :(

The phrase I use is 'Loved' :( or 'Unloved' :( . That's a lesson I learned about second-hand cars... Never buy one that looks or feels 'Unloved'. Same goes for potential Singapore brides ..... :( :D But I just luuuurve those bots!!!! :(

Auxilliary Drive Belt - Looking at the engine, on the left hand side. It's a 'poly-vee' belt, which means that it has lots of grooves. Not too hard to change. The risk of damage is if it breaks and you keep on driving. BTW, do a search on Air Conditioning, as problems with the belt can be related to imminent compressor failure - but any component can sieze - e.g. water pump - and cause belt problems. But it might not be this causing your noise... -
I.m old enough to remember the Tories Me too - and I can't wait.

The 2.3 has a cam chain, not a belt, so no worries there as long as the oil is kept clean. I agree with Scorpiorefugee - Quote: It turned out to be nothing more than worn drive belts but that did it at standstill if you worked the steering hard. Unquote. So check the auxilliary drive belt. I think it's unlikely to be a CV joint - this would be a knock-knock-knock-knock heard on full lock that increases with road speed. BTW, that's a great price if the car's in good condition, even for a Mk1. How many miles does it have on the clock now? -

ETKA... (ErsatzTeil IIRC...) ekta is the first part of that well known chav formula 'ektaplasm'. -
If you could post a pic? From your description, this sounds like a failed CV joint, however, I'm happy to be proved wrong again.

Yes, it has got slower. If I watch my cable modem I can see a delay in replies from the forum server. I was wondering if NTL was playing up again...

I think that the quoted text requirement is much smaller than the amount of space used recently on photos It was a laugh and relieved sum pent up aggression..frustration....and was fun.... :D ;) So, how does this quote in a quote thing work then?

...just in time for Christmas! Hope it isn't too expensive. I guess it could be worse than a CV joint... :)

I've only ever seen a Police Galaxy in Basingstoke... or should I say Boringstoke? It was being used as a support vehicle, so tbh they might as well have used a Transit and saved some money.

Oh, so you two want me to get rude and nasty with you, eh? See you in live chat later... :)

You're right Gooner - I take it back. Some people do need editing sometimes. :o (And TBH I'm not edited very often...) :)

HPE's animation took more than fifty takes to get right. While trying to hold those blue balls on sticks and running then side to side on the dashboard, it made his arms very tired indeed. Naturally the balls dropped frequently, and much swearing ensued. Of course, if he had been a real professional, like Tom Hanks (who was rumoured to be interested in the part), it would have been 'in the can' in no more than two takes at most. Dennis Norden is said to be interested in seeing the rushes for material that he can use in 'It'll Be Alright On The Night 113'.
