I have just put a new Air mass on my VR6,I know the old one was fu#ked,after changing do I have to reset error code in Vag com as it dose not seem to have made any difference to the cars performance. I drove up to nottingham 300 mile round trip it w\as happy doing 80mph but took a long time to get there.The part replaced was original Bosch.

On the odd time I use a garage mainly for service book stamping,I always mark all the serviceble things with a perm marker that way I can tell at a glance if they have been changed.

I know Vag-Com can do a lot of stuff and is quite simple to operrate,but I am sure it can do more , I read someone had altered the way the car locks and other non faut proscesses. Anyone know of a site that lists all Vag-Com can do :lol:

I just remembered when I did my pads on my Chrysler Voyager they had sticky pads on it,so yes I do know :lol: My vw pads did'nt have them though hence why I used copperslip.

...Justice, you did remove the backing paper before fitting the pads didn't you... :lol: :lol: Backing paper, self adhisive, lol!! err no, I have just checked the old one that I took out that were still almost new but replaced becouse I put new disc's on and thet were plain metal with nothing on them. I was not aware that they did self sticking pads all these new fangled idea's :lol: Bring back the starter crank handle and the set of points I say.

The pads shoud have an anti squeel pad on the back but maybe they just need a bit of copper ease on them.

I have just set up my Vag-Com today and when left on tickover for 20 mins the Gearbox temp was 84, when I get more time next week I will start the car up from cold with Vagcom plugged in and see how long before it gets to the right temp to give you an idea on how long to have the engine running, I have the full registered version so wil be able to post up a graph as well. What dose the egr stand for ,Exhaust gas regulator ? I done a search on Elsawin ,Bentley manual and looked though peter russek book but the search just gave me everything relating to egr in spel;t words I need to input the full word

I just fitted new Champion blades to mine and ther were curved one's on there but replaced with srtaight 70cm drivers and 65cm passenger side.

Could be one of a few things, oil contamination, a pully is slightly siezed ,water pump on it way out. If it is off now I would check all the places it runs around to make sure all runs free.

How high were the emissions,how long since last oil change and air filter.

And no fear of the film scratching off.

When you are driving is the gearbox changing as it ment to do or dose it seem to be holding on to long before changing.

You could try using a metal coat hanger, run a magnet around it to magnatise it (an old speaker would do the job)then put the magnet on the end you are holding and put the other end into the hole,it should pick up any loose metal in the box.

There should be only 1 stat listed for the VR6 engine 80c I think but there is a 70c avalable as an after maket to help make the engine run a bit cooler depending on how hard you drive your car,I have just fitted a normal one in mine becouse when I brought the car the thormostat was jammed shut. One bit of advice is when buying the stat make sure you get the rubber seal that goes on the engine block which is not part of the stat kit (stat and stat rubberseal). Total cost for thermostat and both seals should cost you about

when filled with coolant leave the expansion cap off start the engine and let it get warm and any air in the system will be expelled through the expansion tank,make sure the heater is on hot so as to bleed the heater matrix as well.

I was down VW today picking up the wrong hose they got for my car,I told the guy that if he had looked at the picture right he would have ordered the right part, he showed me the screen and said there you go thats the pipe it's showing,I clicked the mouse 2 or 4 time going to another page then pionted out to him "That's the pipe" almost the same but not quite he was gobsmacked and added it is ilegal to have it on my home PC so I just added "yeah and" :lol: ELSA WIN great if you have it at home and know how to use it. and thaks to another member from this forum who coppied it for me :o
