Post By Ddhh33 About Swivel Seats
big_kev replied to NikpV's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I find the swivelling front seats very useful......or at least the passenger one. When travelling long journeys the wife sits in the left hand middle seat with the front passenger seat turned around so she can stretch out with her legs on it. Also this gives her some extra space to put all her crap....magazines, sweets etc. It has the added bonus in that she is not in the front nagging me about my speed....driving too close to the car in front etc. Plus also with the old tdi belting down the motorway I can't her the much anyway. Another added bonus is that I can put all my long distance important stuff, fags, drinks, maps etc on the front seat without worrying about them shooting off into the footwell when some git in a beamer or merc cuts me up. And as mentioned previously it is handy being able to quite easily get 8 foot + timbers etc from b&q into the vehicle. OK in the event of an accident the deployment of the passenger side airbag ( not fitted in the very early models ) will most likely have some dangerous implications but as this does not affect the driver I couldn't really care. p.s. did i mention that this means you can put the wife in the back  -

Some of these figures only apply if you have a B + E ( pre 1997) license, or if you have obtained the E in addition to your B license. Please be aware of the legalities of driving with a trailer/caravan heavier than your vehicle kerbweight.

What Tyre Pressures Should I Have In?
big_kev replied to jamesey's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
36 to 38 psi at the front. 40 to 46 psi at the rear. Low figures are normal and higher are fully loaded. These are minimum figures....a few pounds over won't matter. Check the sidewall of the tyres and make sure that they will handle these pressures.....if not remove them. -
Galaxy Ld Tdi 1.9 Registered 2000 (6 Speed)
big_kev replied to Raggedy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Why not ? I thought it was only the auto box the 90 couldn't handle -
Vag-Com won't speak to the engine but will to almost everything else including the aircon. You need to check the flap to see if it physically moves when switching between recirc and normal.
-
Didn't think it was Glen.... as it appears the same mistake was made twice..
-
The fault is with the motor that controls the flap that switches between outside and recirculated air. Can't remember which flap this is on the unit but two of them ( items 3 & 4 in the pic below) are visible when you remove the glove box. Check these and see if they move when the recirc. switch is turned on/off.

No Heater, Possible Air Lock?
big_kev replied to boffa's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The run pump and radiators have probably been knackered for ages with little effect. Most likely losing all the coolant killed the water pump which caused the overheating and upon inspection the other faults were noticed. -
And we all know who it was.......don't we :( Nik, Think you should have a word.......

Galaxy Cruise Control
big_kev replied to caiblue's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The cruise control light may have been disabled in the ECU although this does not affect operation. Also it may not exist at all on early MK2 models again this does not affect operation. Cruise control will work at speeds greater than about 20mph or 30kph if your johnny foreigner. see link......LINK TO CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEMS -
Coil Light Flashing On Ghia X
big_kev replied to Davebirdi's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Check the adjustment on them first.......they self adjust...with a bit of help. Push the brake pedal down as far as possible.....engine running helps ! Then while it is down pull down the plungers on both switches....they are on a ratchet type system and may be a bit stiff. When the pedal is released it will push the plungers back up to the correct position. Sometimes the plugers can accidently get push up to high.....big foot jammed on top of the pedal ? Try this first before replacing any. -
