You can try Ebay (look for people breaking Galaxys, sharans, or Alhambra's ) or your local breakers. Check it is the correct version....there are at least 2 different ones. However these are very common failures and a lot of people are looking for them......good luck. You may be better trying to repair it !

Flashing Climate Control But Full Gassed
big_kev replied to Russ1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You need to find out why your Climate Control unit is flashing. It could be one of many faults.....any of which could stop the compressor starting. I would suggest running diagnostics on your air con system to identify the problem. This can be done either professionally or diy using vagcom (look it up) or similar. -

Mk1 Galaxy Windows Keep Opening
big_kev replied to big matt's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Nope ! Assuming you are using a remote key it could be a key fault. It is most likely to be a fault with the controller unit under the passenger seat. -
Actually its not that bad.......most vehicles have a lot more recalls.

Hello And Q. About Cruise Control
big_kev replied to Cripes's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The "piston" on the clutch (and brake) switch is self adjusting. Hold the clutch ( or brake) pedal down and pull the switch piston out to it full length ( can be a bit stiff). When you let go the pedal the piston will be pushed back in to its correct position. Its on a ratchet type movement. Sometimes if something gets wedged ( I'm thinking big feet here ! ) between the pedal and the switch piston it can be pushed too far back in and this causes the original problem. -
Hello And Q. About Cruise Control
big_kev replied to Cripes's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
An update. Go into Engine .....Meas. Blocks Go up to group 06 You have 4 sets of data. 1st set is your speed... 2nd set is the brake/clutch pedal switches 1st Digit is the clutch 2nd and 3rd are the brake switches....don't know which one is which....will find out sometime. 3rd set is binary digits representing the output state of the switches. 1st Digit = 1 when clutch pressed. 2nd Digit = 1 when brake pressed. 3rd Digit =1 when Reset switch is pressed. 4th Digit = 1 when Accelerate/Set switch is pressed. 5th Digit = 1 when cruise is on and = 0 when cruise is off or when off button is gently pushed to deactivate but not turn off the cruise control. 6th Digit =1 when cruise control switch is set to on. Any of these behaving incorrectly would indicate a faulty switch or wiring... 4th set is cruise control state not sure of the logic behind the numbers on this. 0.0 definitely means it is off but 1.0 doesn't necessarily mean that its on ? All the above refers to my MK1 Tdi but is likely to be pretty much identical in the Mk2's. Hope this helps :) -
Hello And Q. About Cruise Control
big_kev replied to Cripes's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If you use vagcom and go into the measurement block ( I think under engine ) there is a section where one of them is for cruise control. It has binary bits ( 1's and 0's ) that relate to the various switches and pedals. You can use this to check they all work. ie if you press the brake pedal a certain digit changes from 0 to 1 ( or vice versa ). The same for the set/reset on/off switches and clutch pedal. Easy way to eliminate any electric faults. -

Aircon Problem But Not A Leak!
big_kev replied to Ogben Schmutzel's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The aircon system has a condenser ( big radiator at front of vehicle ) which gets hot and requires cooling. The condenser is in front of the ordinary water radiator and they are both cooled by a large fan ( possibly 2 fans ). It is likely your aircon is ok when the vehicle is cold but as the condenser and radiator get hot the fan is unable to cope ( will be worse in hot weather ). The flow of air through the radiator when driving at speed should be sufficient to cool them down but the fan may still be needed. At low speeds the fan is definitely needed. -

Galaxy Iii Zetec - Rear Quarter Light Window
big_kev replied to Lamont's topic in Questions about the New MKIII
I believe they disabled the rear quarter lights as they deemed them to be a security risk. -
Most likely the key is faulty......it is not communicating with the vehicle. The 5 flashes just means the key has gone through the programming sequence it has no means of detecting whether the vehicle has accepted it. You need to watch the led on the drivers door to see if the key has been accepted.
