Fit Cruise On 2002 Tdi
big_kev replied to arryp0tter's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The tdi cruise control is purely electronic, very simple to retrofit. Do a search there are various threads on it. -
My first advice would be to state the simple facts to the insurance company. You were reversing down the road and the other driver pulled out of the petrol station into your path......almost certainly he would have crossed give way lines to do so. The fact the road was one way should not really be relevant....what was your option.....stop and permanently block the road....... or move your vehicle. With regard to the injuries all you can state are the facts of the collision, the insurance companies will be best able to judge whether the collision was sufficient to cause any harm. You are unlikely to be medically or scientifically qualified ( and I doubt you know the medical history of the other driver) to comment on whether any bodily injuries could have occured......and to be honest it would be best not to get involved in this.

Assuming the object you hit is substaintial ( brick wall, or a stationary vehicle ) the airbag will deploy at speeds greater than 10-15mph. The same for a side impact small car hitting you at greater than 15mph or larger vehicle at greater than 10mph.

Fitting A New Brake Light Switch
big_kev replied to tim-spam's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Don't worry about linking to another site ( as long as its relevant......or contains pictures of naked women..."did I just say that aloud !" ). Some nice useful photos. Your lucky you didn't get frauds to diagnose the problem they would most likely have said faulty ECU and charged you about -

Loss Of Brake Power Galaxy Tdi 2005
big_kev replied to ddhh33's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
There is absolutely no connection between the brakes and the aircon system. Ignore the aircon until you have sorted out the brake issue. If you have a remote key then you will have remote central locking....if you have an ordinary key then you most likely just have manual central locking. -
Yeh....that happens with age as well.... :P

The Cruise Control Light Poll!
big_kev replied to Mirez's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
As a footnote it should be noted that on the Mk3, or so I am informed, that the cruise control light is only illuminated when active.....which seems to be the correct setting. Still think this is something that can be changed on the Mk2 gals. p.s. if ressurecting this annoys anyone.....tough !......you know who you are.... :P -
Cruise Control Tdi 2005 Not Working
big_kev replied to markleaver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The money would be on the clutch or brake switches ( as mentioned) having become unadjusted....you got big feet ? Push the pedal down and whilst down pull out the piston on the relevant switch above the pedal....its on a ratchet and may be stiff ! When the pedal returns to its normal position it will reset the switch. Do this for both pedals and all switches. The rocker switches and the brake/clutch switches can easily be tested using vag-com and suitable lead.......and obviously Laptop or similar. This can save a lot of time faultfinding.....as well as having a lot of other useful features. Well worth the minor investment......check ebay for cheap leads....basic software is free. -
It sounds like the starter solenoid is not fully engaging. If the pinion gear is not fully inserted then the solenoid will not close its contacts and no power will be applied to the starter motor. Either you have the wrong starter motor or something is blocking the gear from being inserted. Is something stopping the pinion gear.......is it hitting the flywheel ( or is the ring gear on the flywheel broken ) or is there bits of the previous starter motors pinion gear in there ?
