Headlight Adjustment For Europe
chrispb123456 replied to yozzer61's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi there Yozzer61 Welcome to the site, While I agree with you it does say that it doesn't say how to acheive it just refers you to the dealer. Looking in the TIS manual they call it headlamp masking, personally speaking if you are going to live in europe it would be best to change the light units as these dont look a permanent fixture, let me know I can copy the pictures and instructions. -
I'm having the same problem. No heat in the car etc etc. Water pump is ok, there isn't a thermostat so that's not it. All the signs suggest no coolant circulation and i'm sure it's not the head. Water system has retained pressure for 2 week lay up so no leaks. Bought a vag-com and it showed up a fault code 01189 - Front air distribution flap motor (V145) 009 - Open or short to ground. I read somewhere about a climate control fault blocking the circulation of water round the engine?? I have yet to find out but will comment more when i know. Hi and welcome to the site Empty750. You say there isnt a thermostat? why has it been removed, you will get little or no circulation through the heaters if stats been taken out.

Alternator Workshop Light
chrispb123456 replied to gregers's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
yes looks to tight to do it on the car, pretty simple to take off, when refitting tap the sliding collar over on the lower bracket, makes it easier getting the bolt back in. :( -

Blue Smoke After High Speeds
chrispb123456 replied to SpannerWrench's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi again Just had a thought am assuming the smoke is coming out the exhaust at the rear of vehicle and not out of the booster heater exhaust located under n/s rear passenger door area, if it is thats an easier fix. Booster heater only operates at temperatures below about 10deg c thats why if it is that you wouldn't see smoke all the time. If booster is ok then read on. Forgot to ask before does it use a lot of engine oil? also run the engine with the oil filler cap removed can you see a lot of vapor coming out also place palm of your hand over the filler can you feel pressure on your hand, if yes to any of these will involve major strip down. Valve stem seals are located on the cylinder head which would involve removal of the head and valves, if your taking head off may as well drop sump and remove pistons to replace rings, all this is assuming wear limits are within the specification. Personally I would be inclined to take back to where you got it and get your money back as it could be you have a slipping transmission aswell. :( -

Hi again IAC "idle air control" will give a dodgy unstable tick over, usually removing and cleaning it with some decarboniser will usually cure it -
Blue Smoke After High Speeds
chrispb123456 replied to SpannerWrench's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Firstly welcome to the site Spannerwrench. was the turbo changed to cure the smoking? also incorrect timing will cause smoke, was the engine smoking before these changes. Valve stem seals can also cause this. When you rev the engine up does it sound smooth ie, no misfire does it tickover evenly, the juddering may not be engine related, is it manual or automatic? -
Hi look in the FAQ section there is help with pictures there

Well the compressor has given up the ghost. The AC guy who looked at it said that everything works apart from the compressor. Looking for a new one now. I don't know how long the car had not had any gas in and when the compressor was used last, so not surprised it packed in straight after a re gas. The difference in refrigerant between the single and double systems apparently (700 for the single system and 1050 for the double.) should not damage the compressor. Will change the compressor myself and then get it recharged. I will keep you informed. Hi we hope you are going to have the gas drawn off and not let it go to atmosphere

Battery Issues
chrispb123456 replied to louseafur's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi there My advice would be to get a discharge test done on the battery first most places that sell batteries will have one but make sure you charge up the battery first you cant test it if its flat, this may be a quicker fix than looking for a fault on the car that it may not have  -

Hi there lift bonnet look by top of radiator there's two large metal pipes with a plastic cap covering the high/low pressure connectors they are slightly different in size the smaller one is the low pressure connector Hi I've been trying to top up my aircon with ez chill refrigerant with gauge but the clip won't fit in the valve it's loose. Hi thought perhaps that was what you was going to do, personally the price you pay for them tins cos one's not going to be enough, Your better off paying a little bit more and have a specialist and I dont mean kwik fit do it who will draw off any gas left in the system vacuum it and if there's no leaks re-gas the system. I have a mobile man comes to me his last visit was

Galaxy Tdi Auto Gearbox
chrispb123456 replied to richardman101's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi there First thing is this the 4 or 5 speed changing fluid and filter on 4 speed is easy as sump can be removed and filter changed, on the 5 speed you cannot change filter without G/box removal, on both boxes you will not be able to remove all the fluid because of design so to do a good change you need to change fluid 2 or 3 times with a drive between changes the colour of the fluid is a good indication as to the condition of the fluid it should be a cherry red colour. This is all against what Fords say the fluid is in there for life. I take that to mean 300rpm rise with no increase in speed Have you had the car long or just bought it with this fault I think I would be inclined to do a fluid level check first you will also see the colour of fluid also. There is a set procedure for checking fluid level/draining in the FAQ section Hope thats of help to you  hi again - i have read that oil must be ford-specific. is this correct do you know, or can i use dex-3 or dex-2 universal stuff for my oil change if i do one? after all, the properties of new oil surely will outweigh those of brown sludgy stuff if thats what i am running on atm!! thanks again in advance for any advice! Hi again I think I am right in saying the fluid for the AG4 is different from the AG5 mines the latter and I used Mercon V fully synthetic at -
Hi would anyone in the south east with a working Vag-Com be interested in plugging in to my car and seeing if you can get into it. I now have two leads one off ebay and one from Gendan, double what I paid for the first one, to no avail still get comm errors have followed advice from numerous members adjusting baud rate latency and transfer speed none of these make any difference, im now thinking is it something with the car. Car has been OK but wanted to check auto box temp to get fluid level spot on. Obviously I will bring car to you. any offers Guys and Gals. Chris
