MrT I like you have a v6 auto but it is 2003 model year. The fog light is same as yours but my cruise light does work properly!!

I agree with Ivor - leave it on all year round. Anything else just proves to be false economy in my view and at the same time enjoy the benefits of aircon all year round.

Help Please....not Sure
Dally replied to fivenecks's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
MrT My V6 auto is similar to yours but not as bad since I had a new autobox. Even now you can put your foot down and prior to kickdown, nothing happens for a fraction of a second and then all of a sudden you feel it pull. With kickdown, you get all the power instantly on mine, but as you say it does drop down a couple of gears and the free and smooth revving unit will red line very quickly without you realising. Previous autos that I've driven usually drop only one gear at kickdown - not sure why the Gal feels it needs to drop two? The effect of kickdown on the Galaxy is further pronounced by the autobox ecu as it cuts out anything else that may be drawing power from the motor - like aircon for example and ensures that maximum motor power becomes available to the driver at kickdown. I have now got used to these characteristics, and as you say, the tiptronic proves invaluable at these moments! -
It's worth will vary with what people wish to do with their Galaxies but I have found the TIS cd very useful. It did take a while to get used to though. I do feel, however, it could do with an improved user interface and a search facility.

Jim, Get the autobox and aircon problems sorted quickly. I've been victim to aircon failure in my last Gal - approx

Power Time Limited Controller

MrT I really don't know what that blank could be used for. With all options and mod cons fitted, there is still no 'official' use for this blank switch to my knowledge. -
Jim The article inspires some confidence but I suppose we'll have to wait and see! Hope nothing 'too' drastic happens to your Gal in the next few months. Cheers.

You're right, it is a very different machine. My previous was a 2002 model 2.3 zetec. In some respects, the 2.3 was the easier and more comfortable car to drive or ride in. but the V6 rewards in other areas. I agree the engine is fierce but the autobox adds to this when it just lurches forward at times (especially when cold cos the mixtures richer and it's idling faster). The engine does sound great esp at about 4000rpm +!!

I would recommend this to anyone with the RNS sat nav kit. I have used mine for connecting a camcorder and regularly use this for listening to my minidisc player. When I get round to it and buy my kit, it will also connect to a dvd setup! (someday)

Denis How do the conti's ride in terms of comfort? My V6 rides a little harsh and it transfers every little road irregularity into the cabin - resulting in what I would call a 'jittery' ride on most surfaces. It is, however, pretty smooth on some of the newer roads. Just wondering what role the tyres might be playing in this!
-
Denis I'm on Michelin Pilots! They're on the hader side of compounds and hence a bit harsh on the ride - Lets hope they last longer to compensate. Personally, I miss the Dunlop 2020E's on my old Galaxy - They gave good grip and were very supple. Don't know how long they would have lasted though.
-
When I purchased my V6, I took out a Ford Protect Warranty to cover an extra year after the manufacturer's. I was given documentation to this effect but am now concerned at what john_123 has indicated!
-
Denis 3000 rpm is about right for a V6 auto - I thinks that's too high personally and does impose on comfort. I am, however, envious of your 28 mpg average. On a long run at about constant 70 mph, the best I've got is about 26.5 mpg.

nimrod Could you help by explaining how you fitted them. I spent some time 'feeling' around for the hole that would need them to be screwed into but struggled. Is the hole threaded or will a nut have to be held behind?

Only problem is.... They cost

mrtonywade Assume the worst! In my 2003 V6 there was no loom for dvd set up. There is no loom for an auto dimming rear view mirror. There is no loom for rear electric quarter lights...... You'd have thought it be cheaper for them to fit a full loom with bits blanked off than to have different looms depending on options chosen. Will never understand Ford (or VW) logic.

You've got it! The water droplet symbol indicates the water part and the bottle indicates the screen wash part. At the lowest temperature, it is suggesting 2 parts screenwash and 1 part water and in summer (as you have discovered) 1 part screenwash to 4 parts water!

Fitting Dvd Kit Yourself
Dally replied to Taliska's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
nimrod The link to any supplier of the kit you've indicated would be useful. On first sight it does look good but I'm dubious if it will fit in a galaxy. I just can't see that whopper of a console fitting in between the front seats whilst still allowing use of the handbrake and the centre armrests. I may, of course, be proven wrong. -

I agree with some of the sentiments expressed. I don't have that kind of money lying around either nor do I intend spending that much but I was indicating what I had been quoted by nearly all ICE outlets (some even said -

Taliska I'm in the process of doing this at the moment. Some points that may interest you:- 1) Ford (Visteon unit) is not multi region 2) I purchased centre console to fit my own but found that the aperture in not standard din - the visteon unit is very small and there is no way a din will fit. 3) There was no loom under the carpet, all connections have to be made afresh - this will include ground, permanent live and ignition live. If the unit you fit has integrated illumination, then a further cable will be required. 4) I cannot fit a flip down roof monitor due to dual air con vents - they fall bang in the middle of where a monitor may go. 5) Headrest screens are my only option. I have open air - this means A seven inch monitor may not fit - I'm probably gonna go for 6.5 inch. 6) If you want a set up like the factory fit eg playstation on 1 screen and dvd on the other, then you will need a switching unit. 7) All companies in the East midlands are quoting approx -
Angusbbb Yep, my sister has a Gand Voyager with the bench seat in the middle. It works well and provides just that bit more versatility. God knows why they don't offer that option here. The Galaxy could very easily accomodate a bench seat at the back (OK maybe only kids would get good use) and it too could give that extra versatility when required.

Ford 6000 Rds Cd Player
Dally replied to tedwards's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
nimrod Just for info.... the 6000 series and family of audio equipment is much bigger than standard din size and as you say, it won't fit in a 2007 standard slot BUT it is not double din - it is actually about a din and a half. Regards -
Here it is again - The chrome version. I had handles changed in both of my Galaxies but both under 1 year old! Ford CC is 08458411111. Good luck!

smurf The Climate control bezel is the plastic frame that covers the screws that hold the CC panel in. It does look as if it is one unit but if you take out the stereo, you will see a lip on the top of the cc panel - gently prize it off (it just clicks in and out of place).
