  1. I've just handed back a 2.0 TDCi zetec after having it for two and half weeks courstesy of my local Ford garage. Loved the car dynamically, plenty of space and refinement but confirmed my personal view about diesels - glad my galaxy is the V6 petrol kiddo! Generally though, my wife was waiting delivery of her new fiesta hence the loan of the Mondeo - having had the loan car, it really did make us think twice and see if we could come up with some extra cash and get a mondeo but non was forthcoming!! The fiesta is delvered and it's a great little car but not in the same league as the mondeo.
  2. The console does sit between the drivers and front passengers seat and overhangs slightly beyond and over the warm air vent behind the handbrake lever. As Ivor says, it is not standard in any model and you only get it if you specify a multi media pack. They are available from the parts counter and when I bought mine, it cost about
  3. As Ivor says, I was one of the contributors. My gearbox packed up with only 2500 miles and only 5 months old. In the end, a new gearbox was installed under warranty. Been ok since. Like others, mine does like to hold on to a gear longer than it should at times but never 5000rpm - well not even 4000 rpm. Good luck.
  4. vr6galaxy Where should the engine bay light be on a 2000> model?
  5. Thanks for your guidance. Will continue my search for knowledge and wisdom.
  6. Dave-G, I think you're gonna struggle if you've got a cd changer fitted. I know that you can buy an aux input device that plugs into the the cd changer socket but this means no cd changer. One or the other I suppose.
  7. mawashi77 I have a 2003 galaxy with the factory fit sat nav but I don't have the multifunction wheel. Can you offer any advice as to how I could fit some sort of audio controls on the steering wheel column for example?
  8. If it is the factory fit RNS navigation, the visteon unit will not fit/work. This unit is a VW unit and has different connectors. You will need to ensure that the cable lying around in the back cubby hole is the right VW/Audi type and not the ford visteon type.
  9. That's about right for me too!
  10. VAG parts sell HID kits complete with H1 and H7 bulbs & Ballasts - take a look. http://www.vagparts.com/ johnb - any tips on installation?
  11. Mr T, I agree with your points on the auto box and climate but despite this, the lumpiness is there. I find it hard that this would have got past QA processess in the design and development stage as a characteristic because it does impact on driving at slow pace in traffic when the rpm is in this range - you can feel the roughness through the drive train, slight though it may be. I agree that beyond 3000 rpm, the motor is silky smooth but I am getting that intermittent missed beat and flat spot feeling when accelerating hard. With regards to VAG COM, C&R did say that they have had a number of motors in where coilpacks were deficient and it had not shown up as a fault code. I got a quote from may local VW dealer for replacement plugs and coils just in case Ford say no -
  12. Mine occurs between 1000 and 1100 rpm. I've also got a missing beat every now and then when accelerating. Took to a VW tuning specialist (C&R enterprises) they say coil packs are playing up and recommended 6 new coil packs and six new plugs and they know that it won't necessarily get picked up as a fault code on VAG COM. It's booked in with Ford next week to see if they will do this (last time they said no because there were no fault codes). Let see.
  13. I have a psone under the drivers seat. It's pretty deep down there under the seat and so far has had no kick marks etc on it. It's also well out of the way and out of sight too.
  14. Why this advice?
  15. jn_rowe_uk I have a black galaxy with an anthracite leather interior (dark grey) and I think it looks great! The only drawback is that whilst a dark interior is resistant to marks etc, it does need vacuuming regularly because every bit of dust, grit etc really shows up. Like Ivor said, can't upload any pics yet because of problems with the site. But if you pm me with you email address, I am willing to email you some.
  16. I get over 300 miles on the V6 Auto without the warning light coming on. On a long motorway run I can stretch it to about 300 out of tankful but on average home to work and local stuff, I will sruggle to get much over 200 miles. Considering changing the plugs and coils!
  17. See my response to your email. Contact BDM2510 who has just done such an install. Regards
  18. Had a look through the manual at all menu options - no switchable option for pal / ntsc. Perhaps this is why so many people have tried to multi region them and not succeeded.
  19. bdm2510 Seems like the classic ntsc signiture! Not all monitors have a physical switch to change from ntsc to pal - some are auto switching or have a setting in a menu. It may be useful to see if there is an on screen menu available with this option. If it hasn't, then your stuck. You may want to sell it on because there are many dvd players out there that can push ntsc or pal signals and you might just find a customer. Awaiting your install feature!
  20. There is someone on this forum who has added a sony changer to standard satnav - hope they will answer but If I'm not mistaken, I think it's the one that works with the Passat Sat nav option and is listed in the pdf document that I have posted a link to (the connects2 site) - it should help you or give them a call. http://www.connects2.com/pdfFiles/english%...DMDMP3001_1.pdf
  21. If your sat nav unit is the standard VW one then you will need a VW/audi to sony converter!
  22. ICE section will give you lots of tips but just a summary of what I have done may help. -Sony monitors fixed in headrests -IR transmitter is built into the monitors -I have installed a pioneer av selector (3in 3out) in a ford standard console plus a power socket for games consoles, mobile phone charging, minidisc etc etc -I have mounted the dvd under front passenger seat (this allows access at all times. If you put it in the back, you will struggle if you have a loaded boot!) -I have installed a psone under driver seat -All the kit, monitors, dvd, psone, front sat nav screen have been connected to the av selector unit -I can (or rather my kids can) select to watch a dvd on one screen and play psone on the other. I can choose whichever on the front screen. Usually connect my minidisc to it for music. -Sound is courtesy of IR headphones or the car speakers -I sourced power for the additional power socket from the front cigarette lighter, power for the monitors, dvd, psone, av selector unit from the battery direct. There is a grommet (vacant low down on the passenger side (a real bugger to get at but it does the trick), and switched live (or ignition sense as it is sometimes known) from the back of the headunit. -Works a treat! Good luck!
  23. No, it's not!
  24. The infra red on the ford monitors is a receiver for the remote control signals only. The sony monitors I have, are equipped with a transmitter and receiver for both remote control signals and headphone output.
