  1. Taliska Actually, the UK warranty is 1st year manufacturers and years 2 & 3 is the dealer one - or so it was in my 2.3 (2002) and in my current V6 (2003)! However, years 2 & 3 are given free if you accept the 'classic plan' but this can be enhanced and lengthened by the payment of extra
  2. There seems to be no consistency at all with the Galaxy! My 2002 registered 2.3 Zetec had 2 power points in the back - full UK spec. with 3 year warranty. My 2003 registered 2.8 V6 has only 1 power point in the back - full UK spec. with 3 year warranty. Also my 2.3 had illumination on the cup holders - this is now not the case on the V6 (have to guess where they are at night). I asked the dealers in case it was a blown bulb but they confirmed illumination was removed as part of savings - can this be true??
  3. PS My light works when cruise is on! - 2003 v6 - no multi function wheel.
  4. Ivor, If once your speed is set, you should be able to press the top part of the switch to accelerate (increase) the set speed or the lower part of the switch to decrease the speed. It does this on mine and on a friends galaxy.
  5. Can anyone help with the following? 1) I have standard RNS4 sat nav. Does this use normal ISO connectors for the power and speaker connections? I can't have a look myself as the galaxy is at the garage at the moment plus I don't have any removal tools yet and I would like to purchase a bluetooth carkit that uses ISO connectors for sound through car speakers. 2) Where can I get a video adaptor from for an aux source on the RNS4 at a reasonable cost? I know Jakey (the expert on these matters) said it can be obtained but I contacted Car Electronics in Nottingham and Leicester - they qouted me over
  6. Idris I had a 2007 in a previous ford - I found that I really had to pull the U removal tools apart to unlock the unit before it would shift. AM reception in galaxies is accepted as being crap. There is a fix described on the TIS CD -0 it has sometning to do with bad earthing I think. My current galaxy suffers and the dealers will be looking at it. My last galaxy suffered but was put right by the dealers.
  7. Last month I just forked out near
  8. Dave-G Well It's like this.... I changed my 2.3 Zetec for a 2.8 v6 about 2/3 weeks ago. I originally chose a 52 registered version in neptune green with the normal V6 spec though I really wanted some extra gadgets too. This model was best available at the time and had low mileage (only 5K). During order time and collection time, My wife and I were in two minds as to whether we should wait for one with all the gubbins or accept what we had ordered - we agreed to accept what we had ordered. Anyway on collection day, I was given the keys, log book was completed etc. I played with the vehicle, drove it about for about an hour, had the valeters touch up some bits etc and just at that point, the manager at Motors (Coalville) informed me that a black V6 Auto with sat nav and leather had just arrived - low mileage - (2K) only 5 months old and with curtain airbags etc etc. When I saw it, I knew that this is what I wanted!! - It was worth the extra
  9. Neptune Green it is! - I owned one for about an hour!!

  11. Richmond - you're right about the revs carrying on a bit after releasing the throttle and that is due to emissions control - it helps burn the fuel cleanly. However, this 'flat spot' is unusual that it's making it difficult to drive smoothly. It does it from idle only to lurch forward soon as it gets it act together but also at around 25 to 30 mph, it's affecting the auto gear change - at first it hesitates and then revs shoot up. Iv've also noticed that the tickover at standstill feels abit lumpy, more so when it's in drive with your foot on the brake. I'll see how it goes but may have to pay Ford a call.
  12. Can't be a characteristic as it's only started to happen. First services was done by the garage before delivery - their protocols.
  13. I've had my V6 for just over a week now and am a bit concerned about something it's started to do since yesterday. I've noticed that when you put your foot down, there's a hesitancy for a moment and a second or so later, it shoots off. It's abit like the flat spots we used to get with those old carbs. Anyone know what this might be causing this, considering vehicle is only 5 months old and had its first annual service before I took delivery a week ago.
  14. Denis I've just changed my 2.3 to a 4 month old V6. I live in the East Midlands and was prepared to travel to find a decent one. In the end, the best place was Motors (Coalville) Ltd - Ford Dealer. They have several in at the moment ranging in price from
  15. I'm with SA here. If there is one thing where we shouldn't compromise - it's tyres and brakes. Two personal experiences have shaped my views - 1) I have always previously used Pirelli P6000's on my vehicles but in the interests of efficiency, I once had some Hankoks (or is it Hancooks?) fitted on the front these were midrange and not your cheapest but they lasted half the time of the Pirelli's, had less grip in the wet (dry was OK) and worst of all, the tyre noise that they generated was outrageous. So I was back to spending more but getting more! 2) I have always used main dealers for servicing (might not be the best use of your hard earned lolly but) On one occasion, the dealer called me during a routine service telling me my pads and discs were worn and he explained the cost. For that moment, I thought that's too much and for once I'll try some independents. I contacted a local garage and had them replaced. I do not remember the disc manufacturer but the pads were by a company called 'Padgett' I think. The bloke explained that these were better than OEM parts and that padgett were oem manufacturers for Porshe etc. - Job was done at less than half the price Ford had wanted. It was apparent from day one that these were, perhaps, not as good as claimed - they squealed plenty and I noticed the greater stopping distance - I shrugged it off as the need for 'bedding in' still. Some weeks later, I had to come to a sudden stop and noticed that after slowing down a little, the car speed shot up again and I had to swerve to miss the car in front. Luckily the right hand lane was clear otherwise ??? The brake fade was so severe that the braking force had dissappered completely. This was the last straw as this, coupled with the squealing and uneven braking that I had started to notice caused me to lose confidence. The next day I went to the local rapid fit and had both discs and pads changed to ford bits. Surprisingly, no more squeal, straight line braking and no more brake fade....
  16. The deal is dione guys! It's the V6. Thought I'd take Ivor's advice and 'live a little'. Hopefully take delivery on Thursday all being well. Thanks for your advice and comments guys. Just hope it's not to painful on the wallet!! Cheers
  17. Thanks for your help so far guys. Today I managed to get to a local ford dealer and had a go in both a v6 auto and a tdi auto (115ps). The tdi was a definite surprise - much quieter and nippier than I thought. I did, however find that there were times around the auto gear change (on inclines) that it seemed to struggle a little. Also the driving pleasure was marred by poor tracking (or something more sinister - there was a big chip in the nsf alloy) and the constant veering to the left. It was expensive
  18. PS Dave-G.. I don't have an expense account - every penny will come from my pocket!!! I am worried about the costs and that's why I'm asking for peoples experiences - any V6 ers out there???
  19. I don't have that much money but I've been looking at some deals for 52 and 03 reg models - they're coming in at around
  20. I'm interested in changing my 02 2.3 galaxy for a 2.8v6 52 or 03 model. I'm worried about fuel and other running costs and was just wondering whether anyone out there might want to share their experiences. Also does anyone know of any good deals going? cheers
  21. Thanks for your best wishes gazza007. Will let you guys know what happens after Thursday. Andy Fitzgerald, I agree with you about regular maintenance but the galaxy issue is more sinister and perhaps a design failure. This is further compunded by the Ford mechanics not really understanding the system properly. I've had several cars with air con and they have never given me problems. In fact my wife's current fiesta ghia was the first car to give me an air con problem - but that was just a loose wiring connector - this was sorted and does blows much colder than the galaxy. Regards
  22. I,m fed up with my Aircon. I was really pleased that I got a ford garage to accept that my a/c was faulty. Yesterday it had a new compressor, condensor and a/c clutch. But on the way home from the garage, I noticed that it seemed to be over revving. On inspection, I found that the cooling fans on the radiator were running (would go of for a second or two and restart again and again) constantly but stopped when i switched of the a/c. Perhaps they were supposed to be like that but just didn't work before? Anyway they're loud. on constantly and cause the car to vibrate. Furthermore, the a/c wasn't any colder than before - upset!!! Anyway, I went back to the dealer in the morning who had a look and suggested that the fans should cut in but not like this and did feel that something was wrong, He also stuck a temperature probe in one of the vents and we found that even with recirculate on, the lowest temprature was 7.9 degrees. He said that it should go below 7 but has had some that went right down to 1 or 2 degrees. It's booked in again for thurrday for a full diagnostic - the garage now suspect a pressure switch within the a/c system. Guys-please pray for me and my aircon. Amen
  23. I've finally got a Ford garage to accept that my Air Con is naff! Booked in again for Friday to have the the 3 C's changed ( That's Compressor, Condensor and Clutch). I nearly collapsed when they told me it was about a grands worth of work. Good job warranty covers it. All those of you out there with warranties - keep pestering till you get a result.
  24. Electronic sliding doors that require no force other than that to press a button are available on the Chrysler Voyager. In fact, they also have an electronic tailgate opener too. I had a play with these at the local chrsler dealer some months ago. They work well if a little slowly. Electronic sliding doors are very common on MPV's in the states also - SO FORD have no excuse...
  25. Just to back up what SA Intruder and Ivor E Tower have said - The Galaxy is a great vehicle that is well styled and excellent to drive. I'm currently in the United States - Home of the MPV!!!! and I can assure you that The Galaxy is truly one of the best looking MPV's, Has brilliant build quality and not that bad reliability. I feel I can say this beacuse in the week and a half, I have had the chance to view a multitude of MPV's ranging from 3.0's to 5.3 Litres and try several of them. The US could certainly learn a lesson or two from the Galaxy/Sharan and Alhambra trio!!!
