  1. Tim Where did they fit the aerials?
  2. Denis I changed from a 2.3 to a V6. Felt more than a 10% change - Used to get about 280 miles out of a tank on my 2.3 - get about 210 out of my V6. But I agree, it is worth it for the drive if you aint doing too many miles per annum! Richmond I called virtually every insurance company when I took out insurance and they were all more expensive then Frizzell (Liverpool and Victoria) bar Tesco who were about
  3. Vodkas All above are talking about 2 wheel drive versions! 2 Wheel drive versions do not have a viscous coupling between the front and rear wheels because of this. This is why electronics are used to carry out this operation.
  4. Main Dealers. I was quoted
  5. Richmond I pay more than twice that for my insurance!
  6. New model Galaxy mirrors are different from Sharan/Alhambra. Replacement glass will not, therefore, fit.
  7. Jus I tried that on mine but did not work. The problem is that when travelling at any speed, the air pressure inside the vehicle is greater than the outside air pressure. This causes the doors to push out and this effect will be greater the faster you go. The seals do have a bit of a job on there hands if they're to cope with this amount of movement.
  8. jus There are mixed views on this. Ford thought that it was the door mirror - so they painted and fitted a new one - no cure. They tightened the door - no cure They played around with it a bit more - no cure I was at a vw dealer - they reckoned it was in need of adjustment but to tell you the truth, it looks true to me. They can't do it anyway because of warranty - I'd have to pay if I got them to do it. I'm pushing for them to change the seal - lets see what they do when it's next in!
  9. jus I think you may have a problem. Mine's been back three times for wind noise around drivers A pillar but to no avail. Just booked it in again today but got to wait till end of march for a courtesy vehicle. My previous galaxy did not have this noise. Ther is no noise around passenger A pillar.
  10. Thanks for that nimrod. Think I'll carry on using it then. Yet another example of Ford using VW stuff but know nothing about it!
  11. Davetheref I only asked because I got my current galaxy from Motors Coalville too and when last there, I saw an oyster variant at the price you indicated. I know I've had my share of niggles with the car but, I like you, think the guys down there are very helpful. I know the service guys pretty well now and every time I book it in, they try and get me something bigger than a Ka as courtesy. With regards to the Ford Direct website, it's downright disgraceful! It is so out of date all the time that it's unbelievable. There were a number of cars on the site that I liked but when I called they had always been sold. In fact my car was on their site and remained there for about 10 weeks after I had bought it!
  12. Davetheref Is it in oyster?
  13. This is what they look like!
  14. dumpie NIce! but what have you got attached to your rear view mirror?
  15. FYI guys. Many months ago, I was in a VW garage and saw this screenwash - The guy told me that it was a must for jets that were of a fan type like the galaxy or sharan. I must admit that I have used this stuff since then and none other. I did use normal stuff in my previous galaxy and I did have a problem with one of the jets. Probably a coincidence but do any of you know why VW recommend that only this stuff be used?
  16. Andyjflet You have to press the front fan speed down selector button a couple of times. When the fan speed is zero, the systen switches off.
  17. They don't adjust! Ford ended up replacing a jet on my last galaxy because they realised it couldn't be adjusted.
  18. nimrod Oops! I meant 12 of course. Cheers!
  19. The current V6 variant with the 24 valve 204ps engine definitely has one coil per cylinder - 6 in total - they're called "coil on plug" The old 8 valve V6 variant had the all in one coil pack as nimrod has already stated. V6 owners - keep that extended warranty rolling!
  20. Italiastar I fitted some genuine ford ones on my previous 02 model galaxy myself. They were very "compact" and way off the ground. infact they only hung some 2 -3 inches or so below the normal sill height. When I fitted them, I really thought they would make no difference bacause they were so compact but actually they did keep the rear bumber cleaner. I do know that the vw flaps are different and do seem larger - perhaps it's a combination of the two ie lowered suspension and larger flaps! I decided not to bother putting any on my V6 because it's so much hassle taking the wheels of etc (shredding the locking nut in the process) to fit them and if I'm honest, I think it looks better without them!
  21. My Galaxy manual does not say that - in fact it tells you how to put it off! They do, however, suggest that you set it and forget it. (mine is a V6 though and not a diesel) You say:- "Huh? Why shouldn't I switch it off regardless if I want to. Say for example when I've just started up and I don't want to have any air through the vents until the engine warms up" I think you're worrying too much about this. The ATC is intelligent enough to not blow cold air - it only starts to do so when it's warmed up sufficiently.
  22. Turbo I just bought some clip in covers for the seat anchorage points a couple of weeks ago from my local vw dealer. Ford do not list them and don't even know what they are. If I remember correctly, they were about
  23. nimrod You're right about that image but that's not all the anomalies in the brochure - there are several. Many of the images are computer generated and simply pratted about with. If I remember correctly, this is really apparent in the new galaxy booklet where some of the images are identical to the old but somehow the ghia now has all the chrome bits added. There's an image in the old gal brochure that shows a ghia but has a zetec trim that was never available on the ghia. The new brochure shows a zetec with rear electric windows but does not qualify this by saying it's an optional extra The new brochure shows switches on the centre floor console for rear electric quarter vents but it now has dual air con - this isn't possible, the two don't go together!
