Jkspoff The figures you gave are for manual cars My 2006 1.9TDI Zetec Galaxy is an Automatic, and that puts it into the 200 emission bracket, and thus up to the next band (Band F) And thats my gripe - as having driven a manual for two years and now driving an auto, my fuel consumption is about 10% better in an auto, so therefore why are my emmisions higher??? :) This is the same bracket as some Range Rover models and i am driving a 1.9Turbo Diesel engine - Barstewards

Just How Many 115tdi Turbo's Trip Out
davewill replied to Seatdriver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
OK, its happened to me yesterday :) Drove home from work, (about 8 miles), stopped at a shop for two mins, came out, started up, and went to pull away No acceleration at all, just a gentle amount of power enough to do 0 - 60 in August! Only 1 mile from home so crawled along at 20mph Left it an hour then started her up and acceleration seemed OK. Took it out on to a dual carriageway and used low gears to max revs before changing up (its an Auto) Drove around for half an hour or so and all seemed fine Off to London tomorrow so hopefully 140 miles of motorway driving will give it a good "clear out" The car has now done 45,000 miles so bit concerned that the dreaded "limp mode" has kicked in already :) -
Freers, the Galaxy is a great car in many dimensions, however it also has many faults that have been there since "day 1" and that Frauds should have revised and put right :) On the good side, i have transported everything from a kids double bunk bed, a 42U Computer Rack, 200 floor tiles, 30 600 x 600 Garden Slabs, numerous kids bikes, a Garden rotovator, a bath, a garden patio set and 7 people all with suitcases (but not all at the same time) ;) On the bad side i have experienced the inherent problems that the Galaxy "hides" Drive Shaft Failure Air Con leakage Gear selector problems Fallen off impellor Brake switch failure But overall i still love mine, for the practicality, the feeling of being "taller" than most other vehicles and the ease of driving My wife has a BMW 1 Series and still says the Galaxy is easier to park If you buy this one, hope you enjoy it, and join the crowd on here  I met Bleeno through this site, and he's a damn good chap :D

Freers It wont be a 110 it will be a 115 or 130. Look at the tdi badge on the back. If 115, its silver with a red edge, if 130 its all red On this model the cam belt will need changing at 40000 that will set you back

** Galaxy Raod Tax, Whats Going On ?! **
davewill replied to cos140's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I have a 2006 TDI Auto and the emissions on this are higher than the TDI Manual. This is crazy as a) i get more MPG on the Auto than i used to on the manual, and :D the higer emissions puts it into the "Gas Guzzler" tax bracket, meaning i will be paying -
Not happy - is he  :angry2:

I have now had my 1.9tdi Automatic for 8 months, and enjoy driving it much more than the manual I do Midlands to London / Reading on M40 three or four times a month, and find the journey using cruise control where possible very easy My fuel Consumption is 40-45 on a long run and 38 - 40 on short journeys Only down side to Auto over manual is higher road tax due to higher CO2 emissions, and getting more over next few years

Julian No the pump is not covered by a lifetime guarantee If it goes (i.e impellor falls off) expect to pay around

Road Tax Rates For The Galaxy Post Budget
davewill replied to Deanoecosse's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Can someone explain why the Gal Auto model is more expensive to tax than a manual? I had a 2002 Zetec 1.9TDI Manual previously. It did around 35-40 to the gallon Tax on this model from March onwards is -

Going on holiday at Easter with seven up in the Gal. Therefore luggage space is limited so thought i would invest in a roof box Have looked in Halfrauds but they are expensive for the roof bars and then the box on top :D Anybody use a roof box and if so what do you recommend I will also need the roof bars to go on the rails Alternatively anyone want to sell the bars and a roof box (full width one) please let me know, as i could be interested  Thanks

Just How Many 115tdi Turbo's Trip Out
davewill replied to Seatdriver's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have a 2006 (Mkll) 115TDI AUTO with 27,000 miles on it I do a mixture of Motorway and Town driving every week Does this mean i am unlikely to experience this Turbo loss, (as i do Motorway driving) or will it hit me anyway at some stage in the future? My Motorway driving is usually at around 70 -75mph although i do use cruise control wherever possible, so don't do a lot of "heavy" acceleration Thanks -
Had my two front tyres replaced with the Wanli's yesterday Fitter says they sell a lot of them, but then says you probably won't get more than 12,000 miles out of them So what i say, i didn't get more than 12,000 out of the Dunlops and they cost twice the price! First impressions are OK, probably a bit more road noise than the Dunlops but nothing too excessive Steering also feels a little lighter, although they did adjust the tracking at the garage, as this was out of line Will be doing a long journey at the weekend, so will get better feel of the tyres then
-
Thanks for the info Paul, it sounds promising

Airrex It will be interesting to compare our thoughts on these tyres after next week I will have two on the front and you all 4 "boots" Hopefully "Value for Money" will mean just that, and not cheap and shoddy We wait and see! :)
