  1. Well its not a big issue but the trim that runs along the doors has always been a bit iffy on the rear offside door. Both ends have begun to lift away from the body but the centre section is firnly 'welded' to the door. Its clear that it is originally stuck with some double sided sticky tape but that is difficult to insert in the bits that are 'peeling'. So I have tried superglue without result (pretty true to form for superglue i find), epoxy resin with a damned big wooden block forced aganst the trim for several hours, began peeling away again within hours. Can't think of anything that I could use to make this stick. Any ideas welcome. cheers
  2. thanks Saif, could you let me have those part numbers - i assume they will be the same for mine -1.9TDi Zetec 2006 (55 plate ie MK2) 6 spd manual - only difference is that its a 130
  3. Thanks for that daddy, will take it back and see what happens..
  4. Hi everyone, Last week I had new rear pads fitted by Vauxhall dealer - my gal goes there for annual service as they are a lot more friendly than the local Fords. They identified siginificant wear on the rear pads so I got them changed then. But looking at the rear disks now, about 60% of the outer part of the disk looks normal and shiny, the inner 40% is rusty as if the pads are not making contact there. Same on both rear wheels. Pretty sure they were not like that before the change. welcome any advice before taking it back - don't want to be fobbed off with some lame excuse. Cheers
  5. Have suffered for years with Oldham trying to build the bloody Metrolink tramline but I think they're just taking the rise with this one
  6. Local Vauxhall dealer quote for a Sharan £300 for front and rear disks/pads but that includes fitting.
  7. Thanks Dave, I didnt expect that would be the way to do it but trim came up easily. I was trying everything with the ashray but that hadn't occurred to me. Thanks again Paul
  8. Cheers Dave, Yes, its one of the last MK2s (Jan 2006) - appreciate the info Paul
  9. Thats a good 'un. Having just backed into someone - "sorry guv, I didn't have the radio on" - lol
  10. Looks like you won't need the aircon the way the weathers turning - glad everythings working again.
  11. I had one of the back windows smashed couple of years ago by some low life while on hols. Can't remember who fitted it but i was at pains to point out to them on the phone that it needed to match the original tinting. Fitted and a perfect match - spot on. So i would suggest that you're being told a porky - not sure how you would proceed with this one though. You could complain to your insurance company that the job is not satisfactory because of course they will be paying the bill direct apart from your excess. good luck
  12. Sounds like a slipping drive belt to me LLoyd - assume you've checked that?
  13. Almost certainly the 'hedgehog' resistor pack - plenty of advice on here - try link below http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/21351-air-con-turning-off-when-moving-fan-to-position-3/page__p__157719__hl__resistor+pack__fromsearch__1#entry157719
  14. I don't know about the rest of you guys but this about sums up my experiences! http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/shoppers-rank-halfords-lowest-high-155745941.html
  15. Its amazing the number of unconventional tools to get round this stupid design. I remember fashioning the end of a wood strip to fit the bulb holder. Its a pig of job. Incidentally, anyone know how much labour Fords charge for this? Spread some grease round the flaps afterwards else they can become seized with all the crap flung up the wheel arch.
  16. Think its between 8 and 10 litres. I get the concentrated stuff from VW - you dilute it so it should last though a tad expensive. I've heard some scare stories about using the wrong coolant so would hesitate to stick in any old stuff.
  17. 5 minutes! No need to worry about that - sounds more like a petrol engine, my 130tdi never did it faster than 10 mins on the hottest day. Calm down Lloyd, there are greater things to worry about ;)
  18. And now I'm in memorabilia mode. Just recalled the car cost me
  19. Tdigalaxy90 Hi, what you actually need to do is buy a 5 litre can of top quality motor oil and pour it liberally over the water pump and any drive belts you can see in the region. If you cannot find the water pump, just pour it into the engine compartment ensuring that it covers all visible parts. This will cure your squeak.
  20. yeah- it was tongue in cheek - still waiting for global warming to arrive here. Surely it must be happening somewhere? Same as the rainfall - hardly ever stopped raining since December in Manchester and they're talking about drought in other parts of the country. So wiper manufacturers should be ok up North. Sorry, getting way off topic.
  21. My aux heater hasn't worked all winter - takes quite a while to reach 90 but it eventually gets there and then I get full heat output. ok - if you have blower on 4 with full heat, the engine temp falls back a little but by then you're roasted anyhow. (with global warming, aux heaters will become redundant, I'm just biding my time rather than repairing)
  22. no sweat - sounds like you've got good reason - anyhow no worse than my rants - ask the wife!
