Air Con Clutc ?
Bigjeeze replied to muppetofdoom's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Muppt - what Mirez means is that you take it to someone else who removes all the refrigerant and checks the amount - It does indeed sound like too much refrigerant has been added - The amount it requires should be on a sticcker on the front of the bonnet landing - there are two figures the higher one being for dual air con systems - Unless you have the vents in the rood ( five of them) then you require the lower amount. -
If the leak is from the Air Con Evaporator then no - If the leak is from the HEater matrix I think it might be po0ssible.

Cambelt Change
Bigjeeze replied to big boy stevie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I am just about to change my cambelt - for the 4th time- I will change the Water pump although it has never been done before - I will also replace all the tensioners etc as at 164K there is no point in taking chances! -

Clunk Noice When Shifting Gear And Releasing The Clutch.
Bigjeeze replied to JVelle's topic in MKIII Technical section
It could be a n umber of things - Possibly engine mountings, or even worse the dreaded Half shaft problem. How many mikes has the car done? -
What Size Brake Discs?
Bigjeeze replied to Sammie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Apparently the 15inch wheels have 288mm and 16inch have 300mm...well mine are 16's so technically they SHOULD be 300mm...but i will find out shortly! No need for the extra :P :P :P :P 's i knew ya was jesting  Don't make that assumption!! I did and was wrong! I have a MK2 2001/2 model and it has the 280mm discs - not the 300 that everyone said it should. Do as irez suggests and measure them. -

Air Con Leak Under Drivers Side Bumper
Bigjeeze replied to andy-cad's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Andy I am assuming this is a Mark 1? If it is it may well be the Receiver Dryer which is mounted insdide the wheel arch. I had that on my wife's MK1 - it cost around -

All you need to do is to slide the seat to it's middle position then turn - it should easily avoid the steering wheel. Hooray . Success at last. Brilliant! :( Thanks for all your help. well now while l am on a roll can anyone tell me how l can lie the seats flat please as l have seen that you can make a 6'1 x 4' bed. Patsy Hmmm... sounds like it could be an intere4sting drive!!. The only way you can flatten the seats is to adjust them using the tilt mechanism. I don't think they are designed to be a bed at any point. BJ

Hi we hope you are going to have the gas drawn off and not let it go to atmosphere http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif Chris I am sure all right thinking people will not want to vent any Greenhouse gases to atmosphere - but lets get real here - every system leaks at least 10% per annum - plus every time a pipe leaks or is broken gas is released - it's really not that critical. Lot of PC rubbish dreamt up by the Air Con industry to keep you going to them at inflated prices.

Tdi Air Con Pipes

I had the pipe develop a leak just on the loop as it comes out of the comnpressor. That was 3 years ago. The new pipe then cost just over -
Steering Wheel Vibration When Accelerating
Bigjeeze replied to George106's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have been in the garage this morning again ans as I remembered I do experience some juddering when in the 1st gear going over speed bumps etc. They lifted gal and we tried to release clutch pedal sharply when in the 1st gear and you can hear some noise in differential like something is loose. Also if you put handbrake on when on the ground and try to move forward in the first gear, there is something moving like engine in the chassis. Checked rear engine mouth which look OK. I have been told, they think transmittion removal and clutch, DMF renewal is necessary to sort it out. Now I am puzzled how much would it cost to have it done  George Parts would be around the -
Knocking On Gear Change
Bigjeeze replied to Bigjeeze's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
No I haven't touched the wishbones since January when I did the clutch. Even then all I did was remove the bottom swivel joint. I suppose it is conceivable that there is movement in the top bushes but t doesn't feel like it's in that area. It's seems to be on the drive train somewhere. -
Knocking On Gear Change
Bigjeeze replied to Bigjeeze's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
There are only two - One at the Gearbox end and the other at the CAmbelt end - Both seem fine. The roll restrictor is the third bearer and as I say it looks and seems fine. -
I think that is right - I have the 5000 in my car and the phone speakers (via a Parrit Kit) go via the radio with mute automatically applied as and when a call comes in or is made.

Knocking On Gear Change
Bigjeeze replied to Bigjeeze's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks Paul I had thought to change them but at -
Has anyone any ideas what might be the cause. I had thought it was the bolts or the roll restrictor but no - they are fine. I then thought maybe it's the gearbox flange to half shaft problem with the splines wearing but again I don't think it is. I am leaning towards it possibly being the bushes in the wishbone as I can't see what else it might be. I have done 163k - and as far as I can tell everything else is in good order. Basically when changing gear (once moving) I can if I get the revs right change very smoothly and this is what I mostly do - but if anyone else drives the car or I forget sometimes I get the clunk that feels if the roll restirctor is shot. Has anyone any experience of this on the MK2 Diesel - It looks and feels fine - you can't rock it or move - it has no apparent wear or damage - as I said the bolts are tight and not moving. There is a small amount of play in the D/shafts but there are no other signs of wear, no clicking no knocking etc so I don't feel this iit. Any advice would be much appreciated. BJ

Those are the classic symptoms of the Alternator pulley. Go to GSF and buy a new one for around

In addition to communicating with the local Air Traffic Control facility, all aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute 'heads up' if they will be transiting Iranian airspace. The following conversation was heard on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz. Iranian Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.' Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.' Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!' Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait.' Air Defense Radar: (total silence)
