All doors must be closed. You need to turn and hold the key for half a second and repeat up to 5 times until the light stays on. You then press and hold the lock button, then also press and hold unlock and then release both buttons simultaneously. This must be carried out within 15 seconds. The proceedure must be repeated with the rest of the remotes before the red light resets.
There are two versions, one does and one does not. What you will get though, I don't know, but the unit with the timer and run on delay is indeed independent of the alternator/engine running.
My MK1's battery went flat when I left my (Halfords) fridge plugged in overnight. Thankfully I was parked on a hill. The battery was new and showing a full charge on the indicator before I did it BTW, I thought it would have a sufficient AHC to do it, I was wrong.
Where is your shop Steve? I remember seeing a modded shalaxy outside an car audio shop just outside the town center when I was looking for an Aux In lead for my Blaupunkt.
The power to the positive side will be wired in reverse. Don't know what else as mine had a bodged set of ISO connectors fitted that by-pass the Ford Amplifier.
You need to use a silicone remover, and then a plastic primer (this is a clear spray)and then paint that has had plasticisers added. Bumpers are much easier, they are prime and paint.
A guy I work with only ever has a basic service done at the main dealers, everything else is done at a trusted mechanics garage before the service. That way he does not pay over the odds for anything extra they decide wants doing, but still gets a stamp in the book.....
My poverty spec 1998 Alhambra has it. Sounds like your buzzer is knackered, check the interior light works with the drivers door. If it does then it is your buzzer that is faulty.
I have thought about it but that is as far as I got due to problems sourcing Methonol at a suitable price. But the way fuel prices are going the gap is closing.
The cruise stalk is very easy to fit. Two screws. Then you turn on on the ECU if required (some do, some don't) and you have CC The stalks are rare though, I got mine from a breakers yard. They had about 15 Galaxy/Sharans/Alhambras in and only one stalk.
Your car is still wired for cruise control, only the stalk is missing. Are you sure the switch has two connectors as some have 3 and are a dual purpose switch. If it only has two wires then make sure there is not another switch behind it.
