  1. Are any of the aircon pipes under the bonnet getting cold?
  2. Bet it was a diesel and the lobes had spun on the camshaft.... Yes, spun! The cams are not single machined parts, but have the lobes fixed on afterwards.
  3. Oh aye, and the turbo Zaf has a habit of getting stolen as the engine will fit in almost any other Vauxhall and the ECU can be re-flashed wiping out the key transponder security.
  4. Yes it will have transponder keys, so you will be looking at up to
  5. Our childminder has a Zaf and was absolutely amazed when she saw us once when loaded up our Alhambra. She now considers her car as just that, a car and not an MPV. Just out of interest, does anyone know the maximum permitted mass and train weight of a Zaf?
  6. I could be wrong, I am not at home to check, but there is something on the TIS under Technical Bulletins about power steering belt slip, and IIRC it covers all engine variants. Even water ingress through the towing eye hole can cause it if the cover is missing.
  7. Am I the only person who holds no desire to go any nearer France than this side of the channel? We should never have given them it back after either of the World Wars.
  8. Wait for the letter chap. It most likely won't come.
  9. I would have said that for a small garage the cost of VAG-COM is a bargin as it works on VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT cars. They would only have to use it 5 times to be quids in.
  10. Check fuses 2, 19, 20 & 25 if your car is a pre-August 2000 model
  11. It is the only way I'm afraid. I have heard of this happening before, but never heard of any other fix for it.
  12. Will do as soon as I get home from work. But right now I am stuck in a car park with a puncture waiting for ATS to turn up, so I don't know when it will be.
  13. Other them the special tools to lock the camshaft etc. And a pair of 90 degree circlip pliers do turning the tensioners then no. For the price of a couple of quid you may want to renew the four bolts that hold the pullies to the crank sprocket though.
  14. Most likely the connector on the switch on the dash. Unplug it and re-plug it and see if there is a difference.
  15. Yes, they are a bolt on skin.
  16. ETOS, a more advanced version of ETKA
  17. What sender are you looking for, the one for the fueling or the one for the guage although they may be the same one. The part number for the one above points to one for the gauge and is mouinted in a hose on the front of the engine. Did you want the one for the radiator fan switch?
  18. 251 919 501 D temperature sender for coolant temperature gauge for vehicles with electronically regulated air condit.
  19. 5/6 way for his garage? Why does anyone need a 5 or 6 for their garage, most people manage with lights and sockets on a 2 way.
  20. You need to find out if they have done this:TSB96101.pdf
  21. It will be fine. Make sure you use the air con regularly though!
  22. Do you know when in 96 your vehicle was built?
  23. http://www.screwfix.com/sfd/i/cat/42/p1223842_l.jpg http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.js...=18983&ts=27911
