  1. Im guessing it down to dodgy data in the database as three of the members are 99, 101 and 102 years old today !!!!! I am tech admin on another board and that was showing 4 people with birthdays on Jan 1st however in that case they were all going to be 7 years old today.... that is until I sent them each a PM asking them to set their birthdays to the correct date! LOL
  2. Forgot to add... cant have cable anyway. They run past the end of my road but not down it. Asked if I could have cable and if not, why and they said..... No, Too Lazy
  3. Its so fast he didnt realise that he had already sent it :16: My 8Mb BT Broadband also work fine. Downloaded a 192Mb file the other night in under 15 minutes and thats with SWMBO stealing some of the bandwidth for her surfing. I can remember when it took me that long to download some images when I had my first 14k4 modem !!!!
  4. How about Microsoft's Computer Related Automotive Project
  5. Norfolk and Suffolk are immune to that problem. We havent got any motorways  Havent got many dual carriageways either :16: :)
  6. .... they just werent going in the right direction !!!!! Glad everyone was OK. Its very scary when it happens. We have several places round here where surface water accumulates in heavy rain and people still go tearing into it at speed. I try to watch for excessive amounts of spray from vehicles ahead to give me some advance warning, and of course, slow down a bit anyway. Much better to get there late than never !
  7. Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "Car Crash"
  8. OMG !!!!! What has the forum upgrade done to Matt's post  Originally it was a brilliant article with all the steps of the install listed along with a photo of each stage. just popped back to the first page to have another look and all the steps are listed without any photos and then at the end of the article there is a whole load of photos where you have to guess which photo goes with which step :) Or is this one of the new Games on the forum ???
  9. Hi MJR Is that lead Ok for a Mk1 2.0 Petrol Galaxy as well ? Thanks Keith
  10. ROTFLMAO ;) I recon he has the answer ;)
  11. Well said that man !!!
  12. Do a search for "Relay 30" It can cause non starting problems. Had it happen a couple of times on mine. Was working perfectly then next time I tried to start it it took 4 or 5 attempts. did the same as you got in and out a few time including locking doors. als turned ignition on and off and remved key several times. Bought a new relay for under a tenner and it has been fine since. Slamming the door is probably a slight red herring in that it is the vibration of the door causing the relay to unstick.
  13. Why are they called "SPOILERS" when people use them to "IMPROVE" the look if their cars ??? Surely they should be called Improvers !!! Having said that, a few years ago there was a Mk3 Escort driving round here with a Cosworth Sierra spoiler on the back and that did nothing to improve the looks !!!!
  14. Mine actually has 3 set of 6 FM plus 6 AM but here on the East Coast there arent that many radio station to listen too. I tend to keep so other stations like Galaxy and SmoothFM on the FM2 set for when we travel up to Lancashire/Yorkshire so that we dont have to keep changing the settings. Not interested in DAB yet as all that is on offer in our area is Stations that I can already get but dont listen to, or stations that I have no interest in whatsoever. If they ever put Smooth FM on DAB in East Anglia then I will get a DAB tuner straight away. Tend to listen to that at home off Freeview or Satellite. Quite handy because Freeview carries the London service and SKY carries the Manchester one  The last time I listened to AM radio for any length of time was for stations like Caroline, Laser 558 and Atlantic 252. Very occasionally I tune in to 675 Radio Tien Gold from Holland but it has to be a good tune to put up with the awful quality of AM. Tend to use the iPod quite a bit now as well.
  15. Ive got 6 presets Radio 1 - never used Radio 2 - always used Broadland 102.4 - seldom used The Beach 103.4 - seldom used Radio Norwich 99.9 - seldom used Kiss FM 106.4 - seems to self select * * There seems to be some strange electrical problem on my Galaxy. If I leave the radio on Radio 2 whilst filling up with petrol, when I get back to the car the radio has mystically changed to preset 6 Kiss FM. It must be when I open the door I think. Strangely it only happens if the other half is in the car!!!
  16. Have you been replying to those "enhancement" emails again
  17. Reception of Radio 1 was fine last time I listened to it... but that was about 1991  Where about in the country are you. It could be that engineering work is taking place in your area http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/transmitters/today.shtml Okehampton in Devon died this afternoon so if you are in that area maybe it was ropey prior to death !!!
  18. How will you get on for the emissions part of the MOT as the test figures will have to be based on a Diesel Galaxy NOT the engine you are fitting. Surely a written off Diesel Galaxy as a donor vehicle would make the job easier.
  19. Apparently this Urban Myth has been caused by something that is actually available in the states. Just as in the UK, American satellites carry radio stations in addition to TV stations. A company has launched a new radio which FORD is fitting to several of its cars in the US to enable people to receive RADIO from SATELLITE. http://www.carradio.com/ford_sirius_satellite.html Some plonker had interpreted this as being.... steal a car radio from a British Ford and there is a chip in there that will let you watch SKY TV for nothing. .... sadly as this myth spreads there will be thousands of cars suffering damage and loss because of people too thick to understand that it is impossible. SKY DIGITAL HAS NEVER BEEN CRACKED despite people trying for many years. The guy who was talking about cutting wires and the reference to a 9 volt battery are also myths about getting SKY pay Per View events for nothing. All they do is prevent the box from contacting SKY with information about the event you have ordered. Because the box doesnt successfully "phone home" it stores the info in the digibox for when it can succeed in phonng home. If the amount of stored transactions reaches a preset limit then the box will refuse any more PPV or Box Office events until it downloads it info. Once it phones home you then get billed for all the stuff you ordered irrespective of how long ago it was. I suppose if you NEVER reconnect a phone line then you have "Got SKY for FREE" but you will only get a limited amount.
  20. I would guess not :D Many moons ago I had a Mk2 Transit with a 1600 engine. That got similar MPG to what I get in the Galaxy. IIRC the 2.0 Transit used to get better fuel economy than the 1.6 presumably becasue the engine was more powerful and you didnt have to change gear as often. At the time Diesel Transits were few and far between. Seatkids comment about the fuel could well be valid, I always used to use Esso in my Tranny and could definately notice a difference in perfomance if I used cheap fuel but that was a vehicle with a normal carb. I think modern engines will run fine on most fuel as they adjust the mixture all the time. You may get more MPG with brand name fuel but it costs quite a lot more so overall does the cost per mile work out any different. My Gal is using Tesco (because of the clubcard points) at the moment but if the queues are too long I go to Asda. Current fuel cost is 15 pence per mile, back in July it was 21 pence per mile. I couldnt use Esso now even if I wanted to, all the garages are shut :o The supermarkets seem to have killed many of the old filling stations and if we get another fuel shortage r even a rumour, I believe it will be far worse than the one a few years ago as there arent the tanks in the ground with supplies :D
  21. Hi Bagpuss, I have been using my spreadsheet since July and round town in Great Yarmouth I get as low as 21/22 mpg :D In August we went on holiday to Filey and had a day trip to Leeds as well so lots of long runs. MPG improved to 27/28 for the tankfulls we used on that holiday. A couple of weeks ago I looked in the handbook and realised my tyres were under pressure so pumped them back up to correct values and MPG has improved. Round town we are now getting 23/24 and at half term we popped off to Blackpool of a few day so similar trip to yours. This time we got 29/30 per tankful. My spreadsheet calculates a running average over the last 10 tankfuls to help minimise blips and current average is 25.45 Best has been 25.89 and worst 24.40 so your consumption is very similar to mine. It really hurts to look at the figures because I used to use the same spreadsheet for my old Pug 309 GLD that used to transport me daily between Great Yarmouth and Martlesham and with that I was used to seeing about 49/50 in winter and 53/54 in summer. Regards Keith
  22. I dont think he is running it at home. If you had this on your own server you probably wouldnt create a directory called GTEUK. Other reasons for believing this is hosted somewhere else are that the IP address for the forum returns a lookup of *******-******.net This board is being run on a machine with the following spec Windows 2003 Server/PHP/MySQL/IIS as far as I can tell  Probably needs a server reboot
  23. Over Quoting is nothing new..... Insurance Companies have been doing it for years !!!!
  24. What happens in a school with multiple veil wearing teachers ??? Do they have a number or name on the front and back like footballers so you know which teacher is which ?
  25. Hi Oggy, In your first post you said you fitted a "Booster". The adapter that Steve pointed you to is a TOTALLY different beast. The Aerial on the Galaxy is in the rear side window and has a built in amplifier. This amplifier needs power to operate. The standard radios fitted to the Galaxy feed power up the coax to the amplifier. When you replace the radio with a normal one, the power no longer gets fed to the amplifier so it doesnt work and will actually attenuate the signal that is being recieved. The adapter Steve poined you at is a "POWER INJECTOR" which feed the aerial amp with power thereby restoring normal listening. HTH Keith
