Will it fit a Mk3 Galaxy ? A few of them seem to be lacking spare wheels LOL

Im begining to think this forum should be renamed Ford Galaxy EX-Owners Club !!!!!

Sad day indeed :D :D I have had mine for almost 3 years now and would be gutted to lose it, even if I was changing it for another Galaxy. It is definately the nicest vehicle I have ever owned.

I know modern cars are being fitted with more and more gadgets but I think having a catalytic converter with built in CD player is going a bit far  :) Glad you are mobile again MO4 :)

I actually used that site yesterday because the MOT on my Lantra was due but not entirely sure when !!!! I found the previous years certificate which ran from 8-Jun-05 to 7-Jun-06 but I couldnt find the current one. I knew it had to be valid until at least 1st June 07 as the DVLA let me get the tax disc online and if it ran out before June then I wouldnt have been able to tax it. Stuck the car in for its MOT having done nothing to it since last years MOT (when it needed a new number plate light) and it passed first time with one advisory.... nail in ofside rear tyre. Went to get the tyre repaired and had to have a new one as the pucture was too close to the sidewall. Hope the Galaxy does as well in about 5 or 6 weeks time!!!

Cable Through Bulkhead?
katman replied to Manxman's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
So do I but where I was looking there was no way to get your hands in to tie to anything. As it transpired, I had "mislocated" the grommet in the engine bay. when I drilled through from the inside and poked a wire through it did come out where I thought it would!!!! The grommet I found inside the car was about 6 inches higher that the one in the engine bay and hidden further behind the coolant bottle. The resultant cable run was less than a foot and there was nothing anywhere near it for it to rub against. I ran two 10awg cables in black nylon mesh sleeving and straped the harness to the to of the black plastic near the coolant bottle and then tied it to the existing harnesses. I now have cables from the radio and battery to under the passenger seat. Just need to remove the seat to see if my amp will fit in there, i not it wil have to go under the drivers seat. -
I had to have the roll restrictor bolt replaced because mine snapped and the exhaust did hit something but I also had an annoying rattle which sounded as you describe. It turned out to be a broken weld on the CAT heatshield (or thats what the garage said). Quick bit of spot welding and it was nice nd quiet again.

Cable Through Bulkhead?
katman replied to Manxman's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Just been looking at this and I have located the grommet on both sides of the bulkhead but one thing is still puzzling me. How the hell do you secure the cable to anything to stop it moving around and rubbing on things. Getting it through the bulkhead and fishing it upwards will be easy enough but it needs to be secured. In the same area are the heater and aircon pipes and the last thing you want is for a loose cable to be rubbing against them. I can see any conceivable way that you could possibly get your hands in far enough to be able to strap the cables to anything  -
Are you sure the switch is definately faulty and that it isnt a fault with broken wires in the rubber boot ?

I think that is VERY irresponsible. You could cause loads of blokes to have accidents if they catch a glimpse of you driving around with your baps out ;) -

I voted "Galaxy" and "other" Other being a 1997 Hyundai Lantra. I "own" it when it comes to registration, insuance, repairs, fuel etc but 99.9% driven by the wife. I get strange looks when I drive it because I keep wiping the windows instead of indicating. I wish there was a standard layout for stalk controls. Imagine the chaos if Clutch,Brake,Accelerator were in a different order in different makes. I also try NOT to drive it because the headroom is very low and I also get strange looks from people due to the pink seat covers, steering wheel and seat belt covers. Give me my Galaxy anyday. The Hyundai has superb Aircon. I thought the inside of the windscreen was misting up last summer but then I realised the window was so cold it was steaming up on the OUTSIDE !!! -
Mk2 Galaxy Parts Onto A Mk1 Galaxy
katman replied to twinkle's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hmmmm! Nice. A stretch Galaxy Limo! :D (Like on Top Gear recently.) Now that's an idea... :D I once saw an Escort that had been stretched exactly as described above. It was on a low loader heading for the stock car track. Looking at the outside it looked exceedingly well done and you couldnt really see the join unless you looked inside and saw the steel plates stitching the two halves together. It was obviously a "quickie" job just to make a unique car for the banger race but it made you realise just how undetectable a "cut and shut" can be when done by people with criminal intent. That Top Gear episode had me in tears... as do most of them. Best program on the TV. Watched the "Espace Convertable" the other day :D The one where they hit an Espace with a train was the most scary though. The train was almost all the way through the vehicle before the thing started to move at all !!!! -
Mk2 Galaxy Parts Onto A Mk1 Galaxy
katman replied to twinkle's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I could go with that - I like the Mk2 front end but prefer the Mk1 back end. Helmsman, set warp to Mk1.5! Go the whole hog. Chop a Mk2 Galaxy behind rear doors Chop a Mk1 Galaxy between the doors Weld the Mk2 Front to the Mk1 rear and you have one very unique Galaxy with 6 doors and 8 or 10 seats depending on whether you have 2 or 3 seats in the middle two rows.   -
And the "air" that you exhale, except that it will be an even higher rate of tax due to exhaled air contining high levels of CO2 :angry2:

AARRGGHH !!!!!! Got round to looking at the drivers door speaker today. Had a set of brand new Sony speakers to fit having done the rear doors a few weeks ago. The drivers door speaker has been dead for a few months but I thought it was a blown speaker as wiggling the door harness had no effect. How wrong I was  One of the speaker wires was completely snapped in half and the other was cracked with half the strands broken. But there was worse to come. I saw a thin wire hanging off having snapped at the point it entered the crimp terminal of the plug and guessed that this was why my passenger door window couldnt be controlled from the drivers door. Then I spotted the "biggies". The main power feed for the window motor had also snapped off at the connector, must have happened as I removed the plug and pulled the boot back because the window had been working OK. The earth for the window motor also had cracked insulation but the wire was OK. I tried to remove the pins from the plug housing but there was no way of releasing the pin from the shell :( Luckily the two pins that had wires broken off had empty spaces adjacent to them so I could cut some of the plastic away and solder the new wire to the side of the pin. Had one hell of a job trying to get the plug back in and the retaining ring popped off the socket with the result that socket then disappeared inside the door pillar thereby neccessitating the removal of the trim from the inside of the drivers step to put everything back together. Finally got everything back together and I now have a working speaker, windows are OK and I can control the passenger window as well. Now I just have one more speaker to change in the front passenger door and I can then fit my new head unit and get the iPod working properly  Why oh why couldnt they use better quality wire when it is in a situation where it is constantly flexed ????? GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Beware: Defective Fuel In London Area
katman replied to Gteuk's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Well, yesterday I was wondering if the affected fuel was in my area. Today on the BBC local news they interviewed a mechanic from the Peugeot garage a mile from my house. They have about 20 cars waiting for new Lambda sensors  -
Petrol Problems In The South East
katman replied to midhertsgalaxy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It would be interesting to know the definition of "South East". The BBC news website has a couple of stories about this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6405051.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6405701.stm "I think that we've got a corridor in east Anglia, London and the South East where somehow a dodgy batch of petrol has crept into the system. " It doesnt say how far into East Anglia but I have noticed a few times in slow traffic recently that my engine has suffered a momentary drop in power as if I was about to stall but it then recovered. In all cases I was doing very low revs and just assumed that I let the revs get too low but as far as I am aware my driving style hasnt changed so why I have had these hesitations is a mystery. It does say "Drivers from across south-east England believe they may have been sold petrol containing ethanol, which has damaged their cars. " so maybe all the affected people have been bying some of the newer Green fuels rather than normal petrol. I used to have a transit in the 80s and it it ran fine on good old 4 star until the amount of lead was reduced in the run up to the introduction of unleaded fuel and it then ran like a pig. I had to have a new carb fitted to cure the problem and the garage said loads of cars had suffered similar problems. Because of that I am vert wary of trying any new fangled fuels particularly on an older vehicle. It will be interesting to see the final outcome of this because when I saw the original warning on here yesterday I googled for more info but didnt find anything. -
You know its overloaded when the exhaust is dragging on the ground and the headlights are only good for spotting aircraft  When I first started DJing in the late 70's I used to hire a van. The local hire company would do an Escort van for

Guess I wont be seeing you round here anytime soon then. No motorways and our A roads are worse than B roads in other parts of the country. One of the insurance companies has just declared our road to London (A12) as the worst in the country :P

From a personal point of view, it doesnt really bother me whether we have a map or not. Several sites that I am on have Frapper or similar mapping features and I usually find that people end up so far away from each other that face to face meetings arent easy to achieve, or that there are several people in the same area but the resolution of the map is then not high enough to allow your pin to be put where it ought to go. My wife has a map on her chat forum and the resolution of that is awful. It relies on people knowing exactly where to point to on the map to be able to place the pin rather than using say the first part of the postcode. Once woman on there stuck the pin in CHINA on her first attempt, second attempt was closer to home but it looks as if it is Stranraer in Scotland, she actually lives in Doncaster!!! Obviously she was taught Geography by the same person who taught MO4  It wont allow multple pins to be in the same place and someone from Bury St Edmunds placed their pin around Ipswich/Colchester but the head of the pin covers Great Yarmouth where we live so the closest my wife could place her pin was approximately Kings Lynn !!! With just three pins for Norfolk/Suffolk it would appear that East Anglia is now no longer available for anyone else!! Apart from the difficulties of actually joining a map, does anyone ever look at them after the initial "excitement". Given that we now have the regional forums as well then maybe a thread in each forum where members can say "This is my region" and for those close to a border eg Midland/East Anglia then maybe a "but I have a passport (and Satnav) and can make it to your area" :P

I have only seen one new shape Galaxy so far. Not many round here at the moment. I saw some other people carrier the other day, dont know what make is was but it looked awful. Looked like some had got a hatchback and stuck a dormer window on it !!! Even worse if it happens after about 4pm on Christmas Eve in a year when 25th and 26th are Saturday and Sunday !!!!!!

I read a copy of it posted elsewhere long before I received my own email. I guess with 1.6 million emails to send it will take a while :P :)
