I just had a Philips Blue Vision bulb fail on me last night and it had only been in for a year. I've never had standard bulbs blow before and I'll be buggered if I'm going to pay top prices to change these bulbs as often as that. Back to standard for me !! ;)

Opinion Please.
buford_t_justice replied to HullHornet#30's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
It sounds to me like you're about to start doing some decent mileages in your new Galaxy, so if your 100% confident that the last oil change was done using the correct oil then I would just stick to the next recommended service. Any problems that may have occured through the low mileage in the last 3 years or so would have probably reared their ugly head by now. For what its worth, and I know there are plenty who would disagree, but I change my oil and filter every 5000miles. I appreciate that oil technology blah blah has improved over the last 20years but hey, that's just me! -
Another Idle Problem
buford_t_justice replied to bigdaddy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
looking at this link it says, "the PowerBoost can be applied directly into the inlet manifold at the connection where the rubber feed pipe from the intercooler joins the manifold." Does anybody happen to have a photo of where this location is because I can't find it for the life of me. Even a diagram if a photo isn't available. -

sounds like you might have dislodged the mechanism that moves the headlights when you changed your bulbs. can you hear the motors moving when you adjust the beam level ?? -
Poor Performance
buford_t_justice replied to romseygalaxy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
if it only started once you got the car back from its clutch replacement then the finger would definitely be pointing at them for something they haven't reassembled correctly. if I were I wouldn't delay any further and get back onto the garage as leaving it too long will reduce your bargaining power. even if you can't get to the garage just yet because of circumstances, I would phone them and highlight your problems with the car. -
Intermittent Brake Pad Warning
buford_t_justice replied to MrT's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
have you physically checked the brake pads themselves? in particular the one on the off-side because this is the side the sensor is on. -

assuming your spark plugs are in working order, have you checked the condition of your HT and LT leads ?? -

Aux Heater ?
buford_t_justice replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Many thanks to Ivor for his pictorial work (on page 6) with his booster heater. Today I replaced the glowplug in mine to hopefully restore some warmth to those journeys where its just not possible to get a decent speed up and aid the warming up process. The original plug (as shown in attached photo) was not looking too great in comparison to the new one that was replacing it. The tip was severely rounded with numerous sooty deposits. I got the replacement from Ford for just over -
Brake Light Switch - Changed Again
buford_t_justice replied to tim-spam's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Mine was replaced with a purple one a few months back. Original one was black. Not heard anything about a recall but the supplying dealer was well aware of the issue. -
Airbag Light
buford_t_justice replied to rockkeeper's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I got mine from www.ross-tech.com They are selling them for $349 plus you get stung for import tax about a month later. Others have bought cheaper leads through EBay and used the unregistered version of VAG-COM. Still gives you the fault codes but without the description. Easy enough though to find out what the codes mean. -
Airbag Light
buford_t_justice replied to rockkeeper's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hi Hijacker well that could be sorted after the mot, just wanted to know if the gal will pass the mot with them removed, fault code hows that found ? I wouldn't expect it to pass with this light remaining on, but I've been wrong before ! To get the fault code you need somebody with either VAG-COM or a generic fault code reader. I'm a bit too far away from West Yorkshire to help but others are nearer and may be able to help. Reading the fault code would identify the source of the problem. -
