Steering Kicks To Left When Accelerating
Topbloke replied to Grandad's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
it's called "torque Steer" the manafactures spend fortunes trying to stop this happening but they have left a little bit in so you boys with money to burn (vr6 owners) dont forget how much fuel your burning. lol -
if the arms will move by hand then it aint seized, so that leaves the motor, two problems that i can think of is, there is a nut that locks the linkage to the spindle of the motor, or as you sugest eletrical. turn the motor on full speed you should be able to here the motor turning , if the motor is turning then turn it off, ing off, push wipers to there parked position and see if you can tighten the nut iirc it is 13mm,can be a bit fiddly but worth checking especialy if the motor runs.

disregard the previos post as i have had a quick search and all i can find is where the ball comes of the end so here goes, easy way to check if its seized is grab hold of the wiper arm and turn on wiper at same time and see if you can "help the motor" or you could lift the blades away from the screen and see if they work . if it works correctly ,but slowly, then one of the spindles is seized, two courses of action new linkage or strip out the offending spindle clean regrease and refit, let me know if you want to strip it and i will give you detailed instructions
-
sounds like the imfamouse "seized spindle" syndrome try a search there are various threads that have been posted , i have un-seized one myself and will post it on here if you cannot find the details on here, as it rather long winded but fairly easy

Rear Electric Passenger Window.
Topbloke replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
i woud take a guess that it is the switch if it goes up and down via the drivers switch it cant be the motor can it so that leaves the switch or a broken wire between switch and motor as the wire for the aformentioned does not go via the door pillar its unlikly to be broken so my final answer is switch (can i phone a friend !!!!!) -
Engine Warning Light Problems? Auto Trans?
Topbloke replied to a topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
if you are a member of the AA allpatrols carry diagnostic's (vixen tis its name)they should be able to get the codes out for you then clear them, make sure that you record them, they should but some times dont, its a bit hit and miss as to how good the patrol is but you will probbly get the standard answer needs to go to the dealers mate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. if you are not a AA member i am sure that you must know some one that is and was traveling with you when it just came on (wink wink nudge nudge) saturday afternoon is a good time to call as the dealers are shut when you have the codes post them on the forum and some kind soul will tell you what they mean and possibly point you in the right direction -
The Old Gal's Falling To Bits.
Topbloke replied to greg_68's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
lift the cap on the bottom of the wiper arm and tighten up the 13mm nut the arms are suposed to give when frozen to the screen rather than strip the motor gears the only other thing that may have happened is one of the rods have jumped of the ball not unknown and has been covered before, usually involving self tepping screws , if you lift the bonnet you should see the mechanism, word of warning make sure that the wipers are turned off and ing off when working with the wipper motor mech as i have seen peple lose fingers, when it suddenly starts working :D -
it all depends when the light comes on if you turn ign on, abs light comes on, then go's out, drive away and then abs light comes on it will be a sensor if it comes on and stays on without the vehicle moving it will need hooking up to a code reader/vag com. if its the first scenario then reply and i will give you further tests that you can do if you have access to a voltmeter. there are various threads on this site with same problems try a search !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
from the symptoms that you described it sounds like it was flooded . did the vehicle get started or moved on / of the drive prior to you not being able to start it , typical scenario man parks car in garage friday eveing sunday morning decides to clean car/ get some thing out of the garage , starts car moves it back out of garage turn of engine does what he needs to do then starts car drives it into garage turns it of monday morning trys to start it but wont start . what happens is extra fuel is injected at start up (loads of fuel in engine) no heat generated from combustion process , then next time its started more fuel injected (loads more fuel) no heat generated, third time plugs soaked with fuel wont start , not to much problem during summer months as ambeint temp vapourises fuel before next start up. possible that the mech thought that wrong fuel removed the float/sender unit then put it back catching float on wiring etc. if done in warm workshop the plugs will dry out on there own, hey presto it starts

question 3 Yes the caliper does have to come off question 4 eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dont understand the question, just unbolt the caliper, the abs sensor does not have to be touched question 5 if you have some thing to clamp the flexi pipe do so and then loosen the nipple as described (the one at the top and front of the caliper)then push the piston backslowly if you can find a small bore pipe of some kind that will fit the nipple this can be put into a can/jamjar and will cause a lot less mess with the excess fluid, when piston fully back, close nipple, fit new pads, refit calliper, important bit PUMP UP THE BRAKE PEDAL and dont forget to top up master cylinder with fresh fluid (that bit is the fun bit)

we normally just bleed it and thats it , seem's a bit strange but give it a try for a few day's/ week's and see what happens if you aint happy it will be under warranty anyway
-
possible not the car at fault, were you near a radio mast, fire station or police station, we have a area in our town that has all three and its not unheard of to have to tow the vehicle out of the area and then try the car again with the right results . just a thought <_<

These F*****g Locking B*****d Wheel Nuts!
Topbloke replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
if you are in the AA most of the patrols carry a removal kit explain that you have a puncture and have lost the key or better still tell them that the fraud dealer lost it , if you are not in the AA you must have a mate whom was traveling with you when you had the puncture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
sorry did not read the details ,still it makes perfect sense to have to buy a new jet just because it missis the screen, ahh being able to adjust my jets on a mk 1 priceless

2.8 Auto 1st Gear Problem
Topbloke replied to greg_68's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
autos can not be checked by the home mechanic properly, the fluid has to be at or above a set tempreture, this is only checkable with the diagnostic kit, when the box reaches the temp the level plug is removed and if no oil runs out then it needs to be topped up, if oil runs out then when it has stoped running out it is set at the correct level, it sounds as if your level is incorrect and was not done properly if however it is correct and there is a fault with the gearbox then surrely this would be covered by the insurance . hope this helps ! ps dont leave this to long as an incorrect level wont do the box any favours -
GSM GUY not to argue for the sake off arguing use and construction law and an mot are two different things but i will contact vosa with regard the washer/level system and pm you with the answer thats if you wish to know of course !
